I think the reason why Caitlyn picks these specific officers for her squad is because they were the only ones who stayed and fought with her, everyone else either died instantly or ran, so they are the only ones she fully trusts.

About Singed .. What we saw in the end it might happens during Season 1 and he travel to Fjelord to capture those wolfs. Because we can't see any snowy mountain near Piltover-Zaun if you check Runeterra map. And we can tell it doesn't took 2 hours to travel Piltover to Fjelord. :)

(It's also a camp in the in-game blue-side Jungle) Singed's burn mark in this, is too fresh, meaning this scene takes place after the events of episode 1x3, thus explaining how Singed made a trip to the Freljord which takes around 3 weeks to a month by the sea.

Actually and this could be a possible spoiler for the game and for the future of what remains of this season and that is that in the scene where Salo (the guy who was left in a wheelchair) looks towards the sky in the first chapter right after the meeting they have with Cait, Mel and Shoola, you can see a perfect circle on the ground where no damage can be seen right where Mel and Jayce were in the last episode of the first season, that is because Mel has a important role and It is rumored that she may have powers and it is also rumored that she may be added to League of Legends as a support champion

I am 100% confident that this season is... going to hurt. A lot. I've learned well enough from Season 1 that it is difficult to second-guess exactly _how_ it will hurt, but I am confident that it will hurt quite a lot. I still feel Mel protected Jayce in the explosion so that's how he got unscathed. Her armor glowed gold at the end of the first season AND when this first episode opened. IDK what's going on with that.
