Ha Penn's delivery of "to-do-sie" made me crack up 😆 Then his speech about 11th grade made me tear up. It couldn't have been my own emotions about my son starting his last year of elementary this year creeping over. Because I already cried about that 2 days ago. So that couldn't have been it. ...*sigh*... The time goes so quickly. But seriously, Lola was so young when I started watching you during covid! How is she that old already!

Pencil tip: Buy the Dixon Ticonderoga brand pencils (not a sponsor). I have bought these for decades and they have been consistent in quality - and the pencil leads don't break nearly as often as the no name brands. I buy the black ones so that I can tell them from the others on the store shelf (but the yellow ones are just as good). And if you get the rounded triangle shaped ones (labeled "Tri-Conderoga") they don't roll away.

A couple of weeks ago we all went together to buy school supplies to my eldest son who’s starting elementary school next week. My son was very happy and excited and at some point, I looked at him and felt so emotional. It seems to me he was born “yesterday” and there he was with strong opinions on pencil’s cases. I looked over, at my husband and clearly he was having similar feelings. God help us when the time for the 11th grade has come. 😅 Hold on tight guys! 💗

As I watched this, my husband was in a whole other state with my youngest helping her move into her college dorm, only she is a junior in college. Thanks to COVID, she did her first two years here at home, so this is her first time away from home. I was totally fine, figuring I survived my two oldest being gone and looking at the excitement she was feeling, but then Penn had to go and have feelings. My BABY is now gone, has left the nest. She may be her fathers daughter and my strongest bond may be with said older children, but man it sucks. Enjoy this time with your children. And thanks for letting me vent. I could really resonate with 3:46+, sending your kids to college. Been through it twice. Learned: it is entirely possible for a human being to feel two exactly contradictory emotions at the same time. One part of you wants them to grow up, leave, find their own lives. The other part wants them to stay, never change, be your child forever. So sorry you're facing this. So grateful you're facing this. Life. It's not easy, as you know.

I love these videos of your parodies of each other. Your kids may roll their eyes now but someday they are going to be so glad they have them. Oh God, my brother hated school, so he loathed any kind of back to school shopping, even for boring ordinary stuff like clothes. The process seemed to start earlier and earlier every year (it didn’t really; Mom just wanted to take advantage of sales and put everything on Lay-a-way so she could enjoy the rest of the summer and not have to think about school shopping). My brother would snark things like, “Why don’t I just start camping outside the school doors in July?” Mom would tell him to stop being such a drama queen. It’s a miracle he made it to actual functioning adulthood. These videos are so funny because they’re so relatable and bring back so many memories.

I just did an IEP for a senior, which was the last IEP that the parent would go to and it was emotional. The amount of growth a student goes through is incredible. Just a warning, 11th grade can be tough academically. Especially if they are college bound. Usually, 12th is a little less demanding on students.
