What happened when my wife read "The life changing magic of tidying up"
My wife gets obsess with things, and when the doctor said I had to have less stuff because of my dust allergies she went on a bit of a minimalism craze. After reading Marie Kondo's life changing magic of tiding up she convinced me to go trough the Marie Kondo method, now all my stuff fits in my back pack. This is the story of how we got rid of 90% of our possessions and what we learned along the way.

What's wrong with having pictures of your children? If you're really worried about house fires, save them electronically on a flash drive and keep it in your safe deposit box or other location. You are depriving yourself in advance because of your fear of losing things. Counterproductive. Loss is part of life. Accept it.

hihi, Nothing wrong with having pictures of your children if it makes you happy, pictures do not make us happy. Getting rid of things like my wedding photos and my wedding dress and other sentimental stuff was very nice for me and it does not feel like we are depriving our selves. Why on earth do people feel compelled to do Marie Kondo or anything just because it's a fad? Do what the heck makes you happy - that's the whole point. If you're happy surrounded by crap and you enjoy wasting money on said crap, yay for you. More importantly, do you spark joy for your wife? Does she spark joy for you? If so, yay! If not, Marie Kondo won't help you. Go to counseling or divorce and then find someone else. Maybe they'll let you keep your books. ;)
