Thank you for speaking about losing a dog. I lost my dog and it sometimes feels like we aren't allowed to let that loss affect us because we diminish it as being "not as hard" as losing a person. Amber told me at a meet and greet earlier this year that a loss is a loss, and you are allowed to be sad about a loss, and I've hung on to that on my hardest days. I hope anonymous knows that they are not alone in grieving their dog, and thank you guys for answering that question. I agree that a puppy is helpful. I did get a puppy after a while and it has been a joy in the hurting. It in no way replaces what you lost, but brings you a new kind of joy. Thank yall for all the encouragement you bring to us. You may not see how you are being used by God in the midst of the storms, but we see it in you. Love you guys so much!

I would like if that anonymous ptsd guy would see or hear this, it’s rough bro my dog that helped me with mine died unexpectedly a couple of years ago. If you ever want to get a ptsd dog Warhawk ptsd dogs in Oklahoma is run by a Marine veteran and these dogs have helped a lot of people and the guy really goes out of his way to help people because of his ptsd.

You two have so much wisdom to share on wide variety of topics, and I think your greatest strengths are shown when you are advising people in how to deal with loss. I am so grateful for your willingness to open up about what you have been through and what you've learned from it. Thank you for the "walking with a limp" metaphor regarding moving forward from loss. Your chicken & dumplings recipe made me think of the dumplings that we have with every Thanksgiving and Christmas meal. It is a tradition started by my Grandmommy as I was growing up. We make dumplings for our meal, then add in the turkey or chicken to the leftovers (if there are any) the next day. We use chicken broth since we don't mix with chicken or turkey initially. Then we cut biscuits into four and dip them in flour for a creamier gravy before dropping them in the boiling broth. Then comes lots and lots of stirring to keep them from sticking. My grandmommy (paternal side) passed away when I was in 7th grade. I remember all of the years after when my aunts would mention skipping the dumplings and I begged them not to because of the great memories they bring up. Now I find myself in that place where I consider skipping and my kids are the ones begging. I love that they have become such a great memory and tradition for my kids even though they didn't get a chance to meet her and you can bet that I continue to make them. Only now, they help me so that one day they can carry on the family tradition. It is beautiful to think that such a small thing can provide such great memories for all of us. What is also amazing is that over the years, my kids have intentionally shared the dumplings with close friends and shared the story of why we make them. My heart smiles each and every time I see it happen. She has been gone for years, but her legacy lives on each day.
