I am 100% on OP's side in the situation. Imagine how traumatized their hypothetical children would've been if they witnessed their mother die from an allergic reaction. I am glad OP's wife is starting to take her allergies more seriously and her mental and physical health is improving.

not to mention how expensive epipen and medical treatment is- that's money that should be going into the couple/family finances, not wasted on preventable allergy attacks

I’m glad they were able to patch things up but I hope she doesn’t make self destruction a reoccurring issue when times get tough, props to OP for sticking around

I could not imagine being super allergic to something and STILL eat it 😭 I can’t eat tree fruits but all it does is make my mouth and lips super itchy. But if it caused anaphylaxis? I’d never touch them again, even cooked.

I’m someone who has anaphylactic shock and still every now and then will eat something I shouldn’t

@ sometimes I just miss eating food that I was once able to have. then I just stab myself with my epi pen and go about my business 😂😭

these people live in America! can you imagine the medical dept... I fully understand why OP was very angry.

What she described isn't actually "rebellion", it's self harm. Harming yourself isn't rebellious or enjoyable. Being rebellious could be blowing a bunch of money on a fun trip or on buying something you want, or screaming at her boss or something rebellious. Self harm is just self harm and she's just making up a complicated story to explain it

When I have confirmed allergies, I STFA from that item. Being miserable and itchy sucks. But the biggest thing I take ftom this story is that hospital visits are expensive

I hope op's wife will continue to do and get better. Maybe she could benefit from therapy or something like that to make her feel more in control of her life.

She treats her severe allergies like it was the same thing as being lactose intolerant OP did the right thing.

I find this story extremely difficult to believe. How could anyone take such a casual outlook on their life?

My dad is extremely allergic to squid and octopus and he would order calamari a lot when I was a kid until I was 16. I've never been a good sleeper so I would wake up when the ambulance would come. I saw my dad get wheeled away multiple times and when I was 16 and had to call the ambulance myself, I think that was his wake up call. He doesn't eat that stuff anymore and hasn't had an allergic reaction since.

Whomst has the money and time to just be fast and loose with their food allergy?? Epipens and the ER are so expensive!

Honestly mixed feelings. I have severe allergies. I wasn’t born with them so my favorite foods were taken away from me. So sometimes I eat food that I’m not supposed to. But I always take my Benadryl, hydroxyzine, and epi.

I'm not saying OP is wrong but ain't no way someone is telling me I can't go back to MY home because THEY are upset with me. I have always been the one to leave the situation as I'm the one with the issue. If I was op's wife I would've just gone home I don't need permission to go home

Yes let the moron go home, have the husband leave. See if she survives her allergies alone for a few days...
