I've been using this product for about a year and a half now. It works extremely well. Forget the dollar store crap. I got great results the first time I used it. My feet were terrible....callus and dried skin. My feet are now soft, smooth and healthy. I also apply a good quality foot cream twice a day and use a pumice stone. I knows longer feel pain in my feet when walking or standing. I used to take my feet for granted. Not anymore.

Pedicure graters are not so scary after all. I just got the Rikan, grating my heels without water. I've been happily grating now for two days. Heels are dry and cracked. Previously I had been using a pumice stone that was barely working, the stone wore down in the center, kept getting thinner and thinner, I couldn't say the same about my hard cracked heels. I woke up one night because my 'sharp cracked heel' scratched the opposite leg and left a nasty scratch. My feet and toes are normal but the heels are a freaking mess. I figured it was worth 9 bucks (free Prime shipping) to try the Rikan foot grater. I watched some videos on YT and people said that the graters are a tad messy. I stood in the tub and slowly grated my heels. All the foot debris falls into the tub for easy cleanup. Cracks/ridges/peaks/valleys are not easy to grate. You have to go really slow and gentle. I was afraid that I was going to cut way too deep so I've decided on removing a little bit every night and not try and get it all done with one go. (If you only have calloused feet you will have an easier time than I did.) The next day the Rikan grater was moving (sliding back and forth) a lot more smoothly because the skin is much more even now. Rinsed down the tub and got rid of the foot debris. Took a shower. Feet now wet and I used my old pumice stone. I think I've going to buy some moisturizer with aloe and put it on my feet at night. If you are overly worried about cutting yourself like I was you probably aren't going to cut yourself (slow and steady wins the race). If you get overly excited and try and get your feet 100% perfect in one sitting then you are probably going to get a few nicks from being overeager. Be aware if you have jagged calloused heels then the grater/rasp is going to make some scary sounds. You will be transported back to high school wood shop and you will hear a noise like a saw going thru wood. lol I think I'm going to have normal looking feet in a week or two. I personally like how large the Rikan grater is. But I'm doing my heels so a larger grater is ideal for my needs. If you have to do the inside your toes then you might want to get a smaller grater. I was really nervous that I was going to do some serious damage to my feet so I never bought a foot grater in the past. But I got sick and tired of heels that could be used as lethal weapons in a karate match. I don't know if one grater company is better than another but I am pretty darn happy with the Rikan grater. A backing on the Rikan to catch the foot debris would have been useful for not making a mess. Buy a Rikan grater, start off slow with it, don't try to remove all callouses in a single day, you don't need to have any dread about any Hellraiser scenarios occurring. I've seen some videos where they are using literal razor blades to shave off callouses, shaving planes removing callouses and snipping with pliers. I'm happy with the steady progress with the Rikan, I'll just take my time and remove layer by layer. I've removed more dead skin with the grater in 2 days than I did with a pumice stone in 6 months. I had to learn how to use this file. It is extremely sharp once you get it; over time it does dull out (slowly, I’ve had mine over a year or so). I literally could only use the bottom corner of the Rikans file. It works extremely well with all of that being said; gets all of the unwanted dead skin off leaving behind nice smooth skin. I use mine while my heels are dry otherwise I would completely maul my heels.

Hey sis, what do you mean you could only use the bottom corner? Because it was too big or..? Trying to decide if I should buy it or get something smaller! Thanks

As a nail tech I was always told these tools are so so horrible for use of feet. With this rasp “cheese grater” is only cutting the skin off, which in turn encourages the skin to grow back thicker and quicker meaning you need to use this tool more. A foot file is more effective, and if needed can be used with a chemical product that helps soften the calluses prior to the foot file. For at home just soaking your feet or after a shower the callus should be soft enough for the foot file.

I bought a cheap one for about 5 dollars, its smaller but it comes with a catcher that clips on either end of it, i found it was a little dull if my skin was dry but I had a massive buildup on my toe so I showered and it slid right off but I did rub my skin a little raw, no blood. for smaller callouses I still use a pumice stone, these things work great for really rough areas though I love it, my toe is a little raw but my feet havent been this smooth in years, also glad that skin doesnt fall off my feet after showering anymore

I always use mine as soon as I get out of the shower. When your feet have been wet for a while the skin gets much softer and all that dead skin comes off very easily. I prefer to use a pumice stone to remove the skin, next I used a foot brush to knock off the skin. After my foot has dried a bit more I use the foot sandpaper to smooth the skin.

Yeah that's why these things have been around for decades.. the number one reason people have foot problems is because they are wearing the wrong footwear, or no footwear causing them callous and blisters. You can attribute diet to just about anything.
