It takes us 1 and 1/2 days to get to those roads each year and it's so worth the drive. FYI, whatever lens you have on that camera, it captures the roads/curves perfect. Just imagine LIVING in one of the homes along that first stretch of road you were on...getting to enjoy it every day! I think Michelle would prefer the Blue Ridge Parkway - much less technical, but beautiful, clean and scenic. We've been exploring the smoky mountains for 15 years now and have found a lot of incredible roads that don't have names like "The Snake", "The Dragon" or "Diamondback". The entire valley around Cane River (19W north) and Burnsville NC are insane. You can spend days just exploring the endless curvy roads up and down the mountains. Nothing brings me more joy than mastering the rhythm of the road - pure intoxication! Thanks for sharing.

It's not fair for people who are out on these roads, families drive this all the time, especially in the summer. Had a girlfriend that grabbed the wheel when i took her for a windy road cruise just like this. I kindly asked her to get out of the car for a minute so i could calm down and decide how to handle what had just happened. I debated on just driving away but i told her to get in. @@danielpeters9125 Patrick Ross is correct, this area is East Tennessee, and Western North Carolina. As Patrick says, he leaves the Fontana Village Resort, heads down Meadow Branch Road to Hwy 129, where he takes a right and heads towards the part of Hwy 129 known as the Tail of the Dragon. Before he reaches that, he takes a right at the Deal's Gap Resort onto Hwy 28 that he refers to as the "hellbender". That road is better known as part of the Moonshiner 28, and will take you back to the other side of the Fontana Village Resort. These are the greatest driving roads in the country, and every car fanatic should drive them at some point. If you have a Porsche or BMW, there are events every June where the groups drive these roads as part of a weekend event.

Enjoyed this video. I drive these roads annually in my 991.2 with my son. He always comments how his mom would not be able to handle it. Just returned from a trip to Germany and Austria. Was able to drive on the Autobahn and in the Alps. We also went to Stuttgart and toured the Porsche Museum and had a tour of the factory where our 911’s were made. They were fantastic experiences that I highly recommend and know you would enjoy.

You need to buy yourself a used 2007 MK5 VW GTI, to run the Smoky roads that have no shoulders and no guard rails. Paddle shifters, DSG, lots of grip, max fun on about $5,000! If you slide it off the edge and into the trees you're not roasting a car that costs 50 times as much. You'd get the same screams out of Michele, and Ryan would love it just as much. And since it's cheap you can give it to Ryan when he's old enough.

take it from someone who doesnt get carsick and drives like this every chance i get. Being in the passenger seat of a car like this reliquishing complete control is far worse than actually driving. especially when you dont really trust the skills/expertise of the driver. I've ridden with some of my buddies that drive slower than I do on roads like this, and they scare the shit out of me because I know they lack the skill to correct the car in the event of an over/understeer. I don't ride with them anymore lol
