The 3rd movie is really funny and then the rest aren't worth watching, in my opinion. Now Hunchback of Notre Dame however, is a must watch! I don't think Jen is prepared for how dark that one is.

What I like about the first two in particular is that, they're kinda low energy, not too loud, scenes take their time, not too much random score at all times. They're pretty chill.

Scrat is my favorite part of these movies. I enjoy the slapstick comedy he brings. I also like the mini sloths. It's funny, to me, that they are scientifically advanced enough to understand how volcanos work (in the prehistoric age), but they also tried to ritual sacrifice Sid. It was a funny little irony. Overall though, I do agree with the sentiment on these movies. Definitely simpler stories and humor more geared toward kids. I enjoyed them more when I was younger, but find them kinda tedious to watch now.

Mammoths do have a little toupee. This one, is made to look like Ray Romano's hair. I think the main reason I find these funny is because I watched Everybody Loves Raymond

I think there is definitely a nostalgia factor when it comes to these movies. I grew up with them and can probably repeat most of the first two verbatim. But even I acknowledge that some of the stuff is just plain weird. I actually really like the fourth one, but I like it because I think the creators threw up their hands and said "Screw it. Let's just do whatever the hell we can think of"

There are two extremely underrated films in the animated pantheon I think you would genuinely enjoy- Sinbad, which was early Dreamworks and I must have watched over 100 times as a kid And Atlantis, which was far more adult (and featured the first black Disney princess, though she gets next to no recognition despite being cooler than 90% of them)

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is my FAVORITE in the franchise because of the progression in Manny's story, his chemistry with Ellie, the soundtrack, Sid's advices and his funny moments, and Scrat's sacrifice.

SId is a giant land sloth. The thing that doesn't make sense to me is why they didn't go with the other mammoths. There was no reason to not stay with the herd. Sid, Diego, and the opossums could have stayed also.

Also even if he did manage to kill a baby solo, which would still take a lot of effort, adults would either see it or hear it and he sure as hell can't drag it away. So it would be a pointless kill because he couldn't eat it.

I wanted to say for the first movie, but all of the animals there are pretty much based on real prehistoric animals. The thing that looks like a llama with a trunk is off of Macrauchenia. There are also glyptodonts (Stew in this film), platybelodonts (the shovel mouths), and so on. Funny enough Scrat the saber-toothed squirrel wasn’t actually based off of anything, but later a small mammal that lived during the time of the dinosaurs (Cronopio dentiacutus) actually looked a lot like him. And the “sea monsters” are very loosely based off of marine reptiles that lived alongside the dinosaurs. Specifically marine “crocodiles” and mosasaurs most likely. Also yes, wooly mammoths very likely had that toupee look; or at the very least it wouldn’t be unheard of. Asian elephants are their closest living relatives, and if you’ve seen an Asian elephant calf you can definitely see it. And on a further note, you two should ABSOLUTELY see “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.

Scrat is like classic animated slapstick comedy, like Looney Tunes/Tom & Jerry style animation, but in a 3D CG format, but maybe not at that level, because you can't beat the classics, but his shorts are up there.

im not lying its 1st time i hear dialogues in english and to be honest some jokes are softer and some are change due to differences in culture if ti was 1 to 1 translations in jokes and stuff people who are not from the U.S would have hard time catching it especially kids. But ik sloth started to have noticable lisp in 2nd movie onwards i think in first one only in my language he had sucha lisp idk why but they allowed actors here to kinda change it
