In this video I go over the Warbonnet Cloudburst and Warbonnet Thunderfly tarps that I use for all of my outdoor activities requiring a tarp. The Cloudburst is for gear and/or shelter and the Thunderfly is for my hammock. Both have thoughtful features that make them great tarps and I have thoroughly enjoyed using them with a few aftermarket additions to make them super easy to rig up.
Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or feedback of any kind! Thanks so much for watching!

Thinking about the Cloudburst. Had a few occasions where my 12’ ENO tarp is slightly too long after I found the perfect hanging spot. Got it when I used the ENO Double and Single Nest without the ridge line and the extra length was needed to have adequate coverage - especially when hanging side by side with my kids. I have a Hammock Gear hammock not which is shorter with the ridge line. The Cloudburst, being more of a straight cut on the ends, looks like it would still have adequate coverage. Also, I like that Warbonnet makes a door system that can be attached specifically to the Cloudburst for when I’m solo and pretty much hanging centered on the tarp.

Nice review. Can you add links to the gear you mentioned ? Thank you. I still did get how tarp sleeve works but it looks good. Does it make sense to buy only if you have a ridge line?

Just put links to everything for you! The tarp sleeve has 2 open sides, one is tight and narrow, the other is wider and has a drawstring to shut it. You run the ridgeline/Dyneema through the openings and string up the tarp, then simply slide the sleeve off the tarp and it'll stay bunched up at one end, where you can just slide it back over the tarp. I think it could still be useful if you don't have an integrated ridgeline, as you could keep the ridgeline and tarp in one bag, and even though the tarp will slide on the ridgeline when you're sliding the sleeve, you should still be able to get the sleeve over the tarp without it falling off. I hope this helps!!

I've really been thinking about getting the same Thunderfly but I keep earing mixed things about that 20d silpoly. What are your thoughts on the durability of that tarp?

Sam Smith So far it hasn’t been an issue for me. It’s a little more crinkly sounding and I think if it ripped it might rip further than the silnylon, but it seems durable enough. I try not to pitch the tarp with branches poking into it. I have had small pine tree branches or needles pushing on it a little but again try to avoid that at all costs. I pull my tie outs pretty darn tight with the shock cord but with the reinforced corners I don’t think I’d be at risk of ripping except if I got insane winds, and even then, I am confident in it. It’s a well made tarp. Just out of curiosity what negatives have you heard for the silpoly? Truthfully I didn’t do as much research as I normally do before getting it over the silnylon but I didn’t read any horror stories or anything from what I did see.
