I used to make coffee tables, end tables, stools & benches just like your stool with developmentally disabled in Michigan, we bought the Bay City Bridge. The pilings were massive. I can’t remember what kind of wood the pilings were. They were so beautiful! We sold them to the public. The clients were employed by the company. It was their joy to work with wood and earn money at the same time. Great job on your stool! I loved it! Love to see more videos like this one. ♥️♥️♥️

The seat being a touch moist actually works in your favor, it'll shrink around the leg holes and give you a super tight fit. I learned a lot from Rex Kruger's hand tool woodworking channel.

Nice rustic stool Slim. Great finished product! The next time you're drilling holes for stool or chair legs, you might like to try drilling your angled hole in a small scrap board for a template. You can mark it's orientation and move it from corner to corner for your bit to follow through for each hole.

your cabin has such personality and is going to be one of a kind... everything you've done has been from the heart and it shows.. the warmth is truly mesmerizing... the stove, the stool, the porch, the loft.. just wonderful to see someone who is so industrious really enjoying the fruits of his hard work... speaking of that... don't you ever take a break??? you seem like you prefer not sitting still.. and like you said taking care of yourself...a break and a nice cold beer should do the trick...thank you for the new vid, wondering now what's next....

I agree with everyone else about finishing the deck, just makes more sense You can set the canoe on the ground just in front of the deck, it will still look nice with the same design plan. And....if you use the canoe for a planter, you'd want drain holes in it and don't think I'd want it draining on the deck. Then later, if you put a roof over the deck the canoe will already be on the ground taking advantage of rain, less watering on your part. Love the stool, I really like the slight indent in the top, it's a super handy little stool. Hope you don't leave it out in the weather. The cedar siding looks really good and coming along with the dry wall, it's getting there!

Awesome stool, Slim. As for the “Brunswick Pigeons” you forgot to mention one thing - actually two things. One is they make a mess! They get up on my deck railing to eat from my songbird feeders and it becomes poop city on the decking. The second thing is, if you feed them too often, they will call all their buddies. One winter I was feeding about 20 turkeys daily because the snow was crusted over. In no time at all, I had a rafter of about 80-100 hanging around. If they saw me in the window, they would come running! I had to stop feeding them.

The heaving is likely because of the retaining wall allows some snow to build up against it and when melting the water wicks into the soil which traps it. That little extra snow which mounds up directly against it naturally holds more moisture and the heaving likely depends on how much is there even be less when there's snow doesn't collect as much. Indeed its like a shoveled sidewalk with snow heaped up along its edges versus that beyond it since it will melt before the mounds do and on a slope the outside wall gets some from runoff too. Keeping it clear should help but the wall is a dam and it should be more of a nuisance as long as the wall isn't lifting as well. Kudos on the stool and the ratchet straps are ideal because they also act as what are called web clamps which apply pressure because the conformed to the legs. Good thing Slim doesn't eat meat because his breakfast guest might be on his plate instead of up just visiting and not feeding them every day to intermittently is best.
