My Workflow When Editing Drone Videos

WOW that was so helpful and One of the first of its kind that I've seen. I recently bought both the mavic pro and the phantom 4 pro. Funny because I've never flown anything prior to Christmas of this year when a mavic pro was found sitting under my Christmas tree. FOR ME! I loved the hobby so much that I went ahead and bought It's bigger brother so my mavic wouldn't be lonely. LOL. With that being said, I'm a newbie to drones and movie making however, I have a great eye for photography and videos in general, I just never done them myself. SO, thanks for this lesson on where I could start my work flow and in the order in which to get started. At least now I have a base line to follow until I find my own way of doing things. Please do more. I got a lot from your video. I also noticed that you're not far from me. ie, cape may. I live in South Philadelphia and plan on doing some videos down the shore whether it be cape may, wildwood or Atlantic city, all are within An hour of my home. Ok well thanks again for your hard work and great videos. I'm always waiting for the notification bell to go off to watch another one. Lol. THANKS Michael D

Thanks for posting. I'm using Power Director 15 and recently started doing as you suggest by starting with the music first. I need to start getting more into color correction/enhancement flying with my new Mavic Pro. Quite a bit different from using footage from my Storm Antigravity with GoPro Hero 4 Silver.

I think I liked the Hero 4 Silver footage color better (straight from the camera), but even with the DJI Zenmuse h3-3d 3-axis gimbal on my GoPro, the video was not as stable as I get with the Mavic. I ended up doing some post-processing stabilization in some shots. I definitely prefer the Mavic video but I think it requires more color correction/enhancement when producing my edited videos. With the Hero 4 Silver I was pretty well limited to 1080p whereas I have been filming in 4K with the Mavic.

Thanks for the tips. These apply not only to the (few) all-drone videos we do but also for full videos we make but with just a few snippets of drone footage. One thing i want to point out though: 100% of the time I have uploaded a song to KZbin as a test to see if ContentID picks it up or not, I got burned. I'll upload the song, wait a few hours and get no ContentID/Copyright notice.. Then after uploading the full video with the song, BOOM, copyright notice. Is it because i upload the test videos as private instead of public or am I just unlucky?

+NotaRubicon Productions That has to be unlucky. It works for me all of the time... that's super weird. Make sure you don't use popular songs that are in Apple Music, Spotify, etc.

I need Help.... I'm between a soft and hard spot, I have a mavic pro, not 100% sure weather it's the software, When I record some footage edit it via DJI GO 4 app then preview it looks fine. But when I upload say to facebook or play on pc it looks terrible as in footage seems to be laggy, is the dji go 4 app not processing it well? Do I need to use another software e.g adobe premiere

Great videos, Billy! I am now subscribed. I purchased Premiere Elements 15 because I do not think I am quite ready for Premiere Pro. Have you had any experience with that program? Do you think it can do basically the same thing you do with Premiere Pro? I am a fairly experienced user with Lightroom and Photoshop CC, but new to video and drones. Thanks for the suggestion. The only problem I have with that is that now I get Lightroom and Photoshop for $9.99/month (Photographers plan). Adobe wants an additional $20.00/month for Premiere Pro. Maybe I should have said something about the cost previously.

FYI your logo on the thumbnail is completely covered by the time stamp. typically don't wanna put anything of importance on the bottom right of a thumbnail for that reason.

Hopefully you're correct, I Googled "Drone and OCNJ" and couldn't find anything that would confirm the current standing regarding drone flights. Last year a few "very nice" officers told me it was illegal to fly a drone in OC, subject to a $200 fine. Did some research and confirmed that in lieu of an FCC rules (which obviously they've issue), they were banning all drone flights based on proximity to the OC airport. Not sure about anything else but I'm not aware they closed the airport. Hopefully you're correct and me, my family and my FB friends can enjoy my video's from OC.
