Songs like THIS not being their popular hits are why the general public will never truly understand what sets BTS apart from other groups. They have absolutely beautiful songs.

That's not necessarily how The BTS Effect works though. He didn't particularly like Blue & Grey at first. The 'click' that makes you like BTS can be quite random, and it often takes a while to kick in.

@@djlivvy46 I can see OP's concept as level 1 - the very first thing to explain Local's prejudice, and your concept as level 2 once someone gets to Yoongi's "if you listen without prejudice, you might find something you like". Then comes level 3 - I just want to learn their names, Level 4 - wow these lyrics are amazing, and I'm starting to like rap/ballads/choreo, Level 5 - what amazing performers. I might go to a concert, Level 6 - they have their own variety shows?!, Level 7 - they're brilliant, nice, activists, and give sincere inspirational speeches?, Level 8 - there's a storyline universe spanning their videos with themes of trauma and mental health issues!!?? Level 9 - they're underdogs and targets of bullying?, Level 10 - ARMY is family, and ARMYxBangtan is a symbiotic exchange of energy and support, Level 11 - I have the motivation to be a better person and love myself, Level 12++++ - I'm in this Bangtan shiii for life.😅 Edited to add levels 10 and 11. @@djlivvy46 I think also the language. First listens you're brain is still getting acquainted with unfamiliar sounds, especially for english or 1 language only speakers. It takes a few listens for the flow of the words to be assimilated by the brain, and once it does, wow its beautiful. Also the adjustment with traslations, but once you surpass the hurdle, then well welcome to Army haha. Its the 1st prejudice too, gotta be open minded first, I was one.. a skeptic, glad I pushed through and here I am, watching 7 guys sometimes eat, sleep, play games during lives 😂

On their variety show Run BTS the members had to guess ARMY’s favorite songs. This song was pretty high on the list. The guys were so shocked because they had never performed this song live and there isn’t an MV. They learned that ARMY loves their lesser-known songs as much as their popular songs. ARMY generally asks reactors to react to their popular songs, but we know and love most of the b-side and hidden songs. They often have deep lyrics, are more “haunting,” and have signicance to BTS’s story and ours.

8:26 the first I heard this with the lyrics, I cried. I have been battling depression and this just ripped the bandaid off, made me face it and seek help. To me, they’re saying they understand and that they have it too. That the face we show people is not the real one deep inside. That we suffer in silence. That to them, they see it - it’s louder than bombs. And they encourage us to keep going, “don’t give up your life”. That it may not go away, but keep going on.

@@skgm7420yes, I've felt the same and the popularity of Korean language learning went through the roof with the rise of BTS's popularity. For those who don't know, HYBE's education subsidiary, Cake, has a Korean language program with workbooks and an electronic pen that speaks. Some parts are recorded by the guys for motivation. One note: Your Eyes Tell is one of their Japanese language songs. The Korean alphabet, hangeul, is known as one of the easiest to learn in the world. It literally takes you half an hour. Seriously. There is a comic "learn hangeul in 15 minutes" you can look for that starts you with the very basics. You will be able to read stuff like their names, borahae, and ApoBangpo fast. The language itself is another thing all together 😅😅😅. Japanese, though, is on another level imo. It has three different types of characters, and I have nothing but respect for westerners who can learn such different languages as Japanese and Mandarin. Korean at least has letters that spell things out instead of characters that represent a whole word. And grammar is similar to Spanish, so that part makes sense to me. Everything else is vocabulary and etiquette, and I'm simply 🤯🤯🤯!

"Louder Than Bombs" by BTS is a deeply emotional and introspective track that delves into themes of inner turmoil, struggle, and resilience. It's part of their 2020 album Map of the Soul: 7, and the song touches on the darker emotions that often accompany fame, including pain, fear, and the weight of expectations. The song stands out for its atmospheric and haunting production, blending pop with ambient sounds that add to its emotional intensity. Lyrically, "Louder Than Bombs" addresses the overwhelming pressures BTS faces as global superstars, but it also resonates on a broader level, connecting with anyone who has faced personal struggles and emotional battles. The lyrics reflect a sense of conflict between the internal self and the external world, where smiles can mask the pain, and silence can be louder than words. The song explores how the group's fame comes with both joy and immense burden. While they experience incredible love and support, they also face criticism and the challenge of keeping up appearances despite their internal struggles. They convey that the "bombs" or destructive forces in life-such as hate or personal challenges-can sometimes feel overwhelming, but they continue to fight through it, expressing hope and resilience. The music itself is hauntingly beautiful, with soft vocals, harmonies, and a moody instrumental backdrop that perfectly aligns with the lyrical theme of hidden pain. The use of vocal layering and echo effects adds depth, creating a sense of vast emotional space that reflects the internal struggles being sung about. The song has a subdued intensity that grows as the track progresses, pulling the listener into its emotional gravity. "Louder Than Bombs" is an example of how BTS consistently addresses meaningful topics in their music, speaking not only to their own experiences but to the universal struggles of their fans. It’s a song about vulnerability, courage, and the will to keep going, even when the world feels overwhelming. 🙏💜

The last part of suga , it’s a reference to what the haters or people on the internet started to say about BTS , that they use mental health for marketing and money so that’s why they are hypocrites, they said that specially to suga since he is the most raw to it and the first one to said explicit on his first mixtape (in 2016) even when it was a high taboo, the reason why mental health in the Korean music isn’t that much of taboo anymore it’s part thanks to them. So in another interview when they asked them about why they talk about that on their songs , suga said: if we don’t do it who will be ? Suga on his lyrics, specially on this matter tend to refer to past stuff really explicit, that you can tell who he is coming to, even tho he said he doesnt says names.

Markabusi, your curiosity is commendable! 😂 As a lifelong lover of classical music, jazz, R&B, and rock, I too was full of prejudice and dismissive when I first heard of them, then I watched their MVs… Blood, Sweat & Tears did it for me! The sheer artistry of the video, the literary allusions (to Herman Hesse’s Demian), the musical inclusions of Bach’s mass in the intro and Buxtehude’s Passacaglia gave me pause, and I wanted to know what this group was about. And of course the mesmerising choreo! Anyway, somehow their music really works for healing. Their Live performance of early song “Born Singer” is gut-wrenching. Here’s a link to a 2015 performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpS4gmaie5iShZosi=kRPknyi72aI3R_KX Lyrically eloquent songs are numerous. A hidden track on their Love Yourself: HER album called SEA is an example of this. Here is a link to the Lyrics video on YT. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZvWpaiYfNiZnassi=RQNNGumKTgr8wRgC Butterfly is a moving song about how fragile life and trying to hold on to young friends who have throughts of suicide: This performance has LYRICS subtitles! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXjLgYKmr5iqa9Usi=QAn7gdV7klCq0nYn

You are understanding the song well! I'm adding these comments just to share supplemental info. 4:13 - During one of the concerts, when RM was about to go onstage in this outfit, we have behind-the-scenes video of him wincing in pain. The staff bandage his foot and ask if he can hold out. He puts on his boot and says he will go on, since it is near the end of the concert. The stage is one of his solos, so it's up to him to "fill the stage". It's an upbeat song requiring lots of energy, charisma and happiness, which he delivers in spite of the pain. 7:22 - This is SUGA composing/producing. His voice is the one we are hearing. He might be in a hotel room, on a concert tour, using his portable equipment. He writes and composes constantly. 7:34 - This is Jimin, on tour with BTS. He isn't just relaxing. He has injured his knee or leg, he has it wrapped and elevated, and the staff are telling him he must focus on recovering. They have a 2-day break before the next concert. 9:43 - V is stylishly dressed for the airport, but he's feeling very ill. Staff are asking if he's taken medicine yet. He doesn't even look up to talk, but nods. 9:48 - This may be the time Jimin was exhausted on stage because of his dieting. The two next to him caught him. They all look out for and help each other, especially the elder brothers.

9:22 I love that your appreciation for them is growing! Also with regards to rich and successful equating to happiness, you are pretty spot on . Keep in mind with these guys, no other group in Korea had risen to the heights that BTS did. No other group became envoys for the Korean government complete with diplomatic passports. It was lonely and scary for them. No other Korean group rose to fame through the power of their fans alone. They had no one to go to and ask "hey how do you deal with this pressure of representing our country?" Now others can look to them for advice, but they had no one and the pressure became immense. They even considered disbanding. So yeah you basically got the gist. Subbed btw I really liked your reaction 💜 Eta: you should check out truth untold live, & house of cards live. 9:09 they have actually talked about that pressure to be perfect many, many times. They really try to be open with how they feel with the fans, and they have talked about the pressure that fame and money come with. Many of sugas' songs actually mention his battle with that anxiety and how he thought fame would fix things, and it didn't. In some aspects, it makes it worse. I would recommend you check out his song 'interlude: shadow' from their album map of the soul 7. Bts also has some songs/albums talking about that same topic. Its a sad reality and i wish more people would be more understanding instead of dehumanizing these celebrities because they are successful so that automatically means they are "happy" when in reality that is usually not the case. I think this is why many people love bts and their songs because they are real and they prioritize mental health, etc. Sorry for my long comment, lol. Thank you for giving the boys a chance. They are truly special ♡.

The harmonies are absolutely beautiful, which is something that you will find in many, many more of their songs. I do appreciate your honesty also. You point out what you don't like with respect as well as describe why you like what you do about their music. you nailed the meaning! great job the song belongs on the album Map Of The Soul: 7, the same album that has Black Swan (year 2020), and it fits perfectly to the theme of journey to your true self. as Black Swan tell us the story of their fear to lose passion for music, Louder Than Bombs tells a story of understanding again what is at the core of their love for what they do. it's like finding again that spark, the reason why they wanted to do music for myself i divide the song into three steps first verse i see as a point of pain, and it's said by bts to each other or army lyrics: "Your silent sorrow shakes me", "since I learned that the smile you showed me does not mean your happiness", "The word that perhaps will never be believed: let’s only see and hear good things” They all have their own internal struggles and it's hard to open up, even if you have 6 best friends. It may be just a habbit to keep everything to yourself, like V once said that he used to not talk about his own concerns, or the way to protect other boys, like Jin once said that he tried to be positive and fun to lift others up, but he also has his time of feeling down and depressed. This part reminds me a lot of Outro: Tear (year 2018), a song you've listened to as well, about their possible disbandment that they were considering because the rapidly increasing fame and overwhelming schedule was scaring and exhausting them. if you read some Outro Tear lyrics, it kind of resonates the same thoughts and fears: "Goodbye that ended up coming to me is what I deserve at the end of my playacting full of lies. If someone turned back time for me, could I maybe have been more honest? My bare face that only I know, and my ugly and humble old friends within myself, Could you have still loved me with the smile you used to make looking at me" They were going through pain, they were breaking louder than bombs the second verse is a process of accepting the way their lives have changed, finding again what they want to achieve and who they want to be, and kind of sharing it together without closing off, because honestly they are the only people in the world who can truly understand each other just because their shared experiences are super unique. i want to include this quote from one of their interviews (Jimin): "It might just be because I’m young, but I find it hard to open up to friends other than fellow BTS members. I often feel pretentious, and I don’t like it. It’s nice to be able to be completely honest when talking to other members.” lyrics: "Sorrow and pain, they are never a coincidence, yeah we picked this game. Louder than bombs I say, I will say in front of the world, The times when I looked away from you, the days when I kept running away - they will no longer exist" in some sense i see BTS's path as a path of opening up. it's not that they've been fake before, no, they were sincere, but they were hiding their shadow: the pains, the fears, the struggles, the anxieties, the pressure - more often than not because they don't want to burden us with it. but with time they were more and more often coming to us with the words "we shouldn't hide these things, we should be honest about both good and bad" the third verse shows them standing firm and confident again, with a new found determination and mission for their music. At this point they have fully accepted the gigantic influence they own now, so "If it’s not us, okay, who’s going to do it?". They carry the responsibility with dignity. RM shared multiple times that he is very aware that every fan he sees, who leave letters or comments or posts or just watches and listens BTS has their own life full of sadness and fears and anxieties and sorrows, and that fans come to BTS looking for comfort. There are so many messages ARMY leave that have an overarching message of "BTS saved my life", mine as well. This song is a promise that they will continue singing for us forever, louder than bombs in 2018 Jimin posted a vlog (something they've been doing since 2013, just turn on the camera and speak their mind and upload as is): "This year, passing onto 2018, I think I had a lof of worries on my own. I think I took some time off on my own and thought things through a lot. In an interview at the beginning of the year, I think there was a question like "what is your dream? what is happiness?" and I answered along the lines of "I think we will need to search for that from now on". In 2018 it was a situation where all of the members were quite tired. Both our hearts and bodies were very tired and I think that's why we all had a bit of a hard time. Me too. For some reason when passing over into this year... "Why am I throwing my all into this job? For what am I... Why do I do this, feeling like this is the only job in the world for me?". I think I wanted to sort of realize this once again? It was a period when in order to really do so, I spent a lot of time thinking. While doing this I often felt a little lonely. I'm not someone who tends to rely on other people and I don't really know how to rely on others- I believe that the thing I am even worse at than listening to people is relying on them. And since it was a situation where the people that I actually have to rely on, people that I thought I was able to rely on were having a pretty hard time themselves- I didn't really know what to do. And that's also why I kept thinking about things more, in order to find that reason. I think I had a hard time for around 3 or 4 months, and after going through all of that there was a certain big reason that I became better, for sure. I looked up a lot of our videos. Our music, our MVs, videos of out performances, our photos and so on. While I was looking through all of these, from the old days onwards, by accident I came across a video of Young Forever live performance. It was dating one of our concerts, not us performing, but a video that showed our fans singing it alone, for us. At that moment we weren't singing, only the fans were singing that song for us, and... I cried a lot, watching that. I'm not sure what exactly I thought at that moment, and I don't know why the tears started falling. It sort of felt like "ah. this is it. what was I thinking up until now?". It felt a little like I got hit on the head really hard? I kept thinking, "Why did I forget this?". So I wanted to hurry up and release an album and have concerts again and meet the fans and see them and be together with them and sing together with them" i find that sentiment a lot in their two map of the soul albums that were released in 2019 and 2020, right after the turmoil of 2018 which was a very heard year for them mentally. Songs like Make It Right, Home, We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal and others. It's not that they repeat the sme message over and over again, but one way or another the thought circles back to this feeling of belonging, of mutual solace in each other, of promise to stay i talk so much as always, sorry :]

Just wanted to say all four members of the vocal line (Jin, Jimin, V, & Jungkook) brings different tones & ranges to make this particular song absolutely beautiful. I especially love Jin’s soft yet almost seductive tone he brings that makes it extra special 🫶

At its core ARMYs are music lovers through and through. We came for the music and then realised what cool and genuine humans they are as well. Personally I love that they explore sounds across genres and don’t let themselves become chained to a certain style.

This song blew me away the first time I heard it and I could listen to it over and over and never get enough. You’re right, the vocals, harmonies, the haunting melody, instrumentation, everything is just a masterpiece, and the lyrics are so beautiful and poignant. It’s these relatively “unknown” songs that prove how incredible BTS is. I would give anything to hear this live! Thank you so much for your review and for discovering the magic all of us ARMY have felt from the beginning. 👍👏🫶❤️

The Imogen Heap comparison gave me an “AHA!” moment. I totally see that comparison. I immediately thought of the Frou Frou project she did with that other guy whose name escapes me. Nice. Thanks for giving this army a new perspective on one of my favorite BTS songs.

I see sounds with this song. RM wrote this song for the fans, in the song they talk to them and give them encouragement. RM reads the stories of the fans who tell him many that have depression or anxiety and the group gives them encouragement and happiness to keep going. RM has written many songs with courageous messages like "Love Yourself". That's why he says in the part of his rap "don't give up your fcking life"

Ahhh yes I do hear the early Imogen Heap/Hide and Seek…just more 808 bass heavy but yes. Also oddly more moody sounding in a weird way. So good. BTS’s discography is IMPECCABLE. I don’t say that about many artists. They’re one of a kind humans and artists. Mind blowing.

Suga on his lyrics, specially on this matter tend to refer to past stuff really explicit, that you can tell who he is coming to, even tho he said he doesnt says names.

man if this bts reactions playlist isnt a journey idk what is the absolute glee on your face when you can finally say "i like the song" is very rewarding after all this time haha you're probably drowning in recommendations but some of my personal favorite bts songs are: like, attack on bangtan, spine breaker, 2nd grade, boyz with fun, butterfly, autumn leaves, love is not over, whalien 52, good day, don't leave me, let go, lost, outro wings, spring day, pied piper, go go, outro her, 134340, paradise, magic shop, outro tear, trivia love, your eyes tell, intro persona, mikrokosmos, jamais vu, home, filter, ugh, dis-ease 🧍🏻this list wasnt supposed to be this long but man they have quite an extensive discography.... i dont think our music tastes overlap too much so no promises you'll like the ones on the list haha BUT i do highly recommend their tiny desk performance and their "2021 bts festa room live" both are just a good time, the prior being a live performance of a few of their popular songs, the latter being a medley of several bside tracks from over the years both videos do a great job of giving a glimpse into their on stage chemistry, showmanship and live abilities:D

Love this song it is so good!!! Fun Facts that can help interpret song the song/lines of songs: -BTS light stick that connects to Bluetooth at concerts and changes colors in sync & each kpop group when they reach a certain amount of fans get them with their own design. The name of BTS is called, ARMY Bomb (so it could help with interpret the chorus) -Shadows kind of connect to their theme of their album Map of the Seoul 7, especially Suga’s song (shadow) on it. The album is influenced by Carl Yung physiology. -One of the line says maze so it could connect their song called Love Maze but not everyone would agree with me. -the line that talks abt sea and waves and water, connects to their Hidden track called Sea. It is such a beautiful song but bc it is a hidden track (on their LY:Her album) you won’t be able to react to it bc it will be blocked but feel free to check it out but I somewhat recommend holding off until you get to know their story & journey and hardships. You do you though. Anyways ARMY if there are other connections you made pls share!! These are the ones that I thought might broaden your interpretation of the song and/or some of the lines. Thanks for reacting! No need to like everything, it is okay. Just stay being honest and try and be open minded.

For me it’s more likely that the reference to ‘maze’ relates to Epilogue: Young Forever and its imagery of the ‘maze of life’. But that’s just my opinion, you might be right.

You got it! This song is an absolute favorite of ARMY and it gives you a taste of why the bond between BTS and ARMY is so strong. It's from the Shadow segment of the album MAP of the Soul: 7, which is based on Carl Jung, and highlight's ARMY's shadows and how they promise to be there for us. The song starts with the confession that behind our cheers and expressions of happiness, they can see our sadness and pain (mental health, life issues, etc). And with this realization, louder than bombs they BREAK. Next, they say that they feel like they're nothing special but ARMY tells them otherwise. There will always be darkness everywhere but BTS and ARMY have chosen to be on this path together. Louder than bombs they SAY, that they won't run away, they'll fight for us and shine. The next part talks about how people (the kpop industry and other fans) are jealous of their success and how their songs about mental health/pain are seen as just hypocrisy (basically insincere attempts at grabbing fame/popularity). No matter what they do, BTS always gets criticized. However if they don't sing about it, who will? (Kpop idols for the most part have very little creative freedom and their big companies would never let them sing about controversial topics. Most of their songs may be catchy, have cool choreo, or visually appealing MVs, but little to no true meaning or PURPOSE behind the lyrics.) And so BTS makes us a promise: whatever hardship we may face, they will always keep singing for us. Louder than bombs they SING. And this is why we love this song! How many fans in this world are lucky enough to receive a song from their favorite artist that promises them THIS?
