Tbh I much prefer the rural routes to the town centre ones. I'll take anything over the town centre blocks that involve so many dodgy flats and having to wait to get buzzed in every time. At least with rural routes there's some variety and you get some nice views. Enjoyed the video though!

Hi Auto Hustle, really appreciate your honesty on this channel - you show what happens warts and all - you show good runs and bad runs, and this run looked like a nightmare!. Yesterday I got a 3.5 rural run out of the Banbury Depot - £58 all farms, barn conversions, and hamlets with house names not numbers. Got it done just within the time limit and clocked up 100 miles by the time I got home ( don't want to think about whether it was worth it ) but it certainly battle hardens you for future runs. My run was nowhere near as bad as yours BTW and the thought that you got it done gave me some well-needed motivation.
@autohustles8 ай бұрын
Gotta take the good with the bad! Luckily for me my average is still enough to make it worth it - most routes aren’t as bad as this one and I average a decent amount. Just sucks when you want a chill route and you get sent down country lanes and farm tracks for 4 hours! Glad this video helped man 🙌🏻 keep grinding!
@jackberry428 ай бұрын
Can relate to this. Had a few nightmare routes from Banbury depot, all county lanes and lots of farms. Had a giant twig stuck under my car I had to set free in pouring rain and mud. Some routs aren’t worth the abuse our little cars take 😂

From Birmingham I’ve been to Banbury the country side is so bad there I ended up delivering parcels in churches with cementary’s in the dark. 🤣🤣 or places like chipping Norton and Witney really kill up the miles.
@zafarsyed65458 ай бұрын
Hats off to you to finish this block, some drivers may have given up and take the parcels back to the depo arguing the fact it jeopardises their health and safety. This types of routes affect your mental health which Amazon needs to consider. Did you able to find correct addresses in pitch dark? as to find correct address is also a mission! Excellent video

OMG, I used to live down that way, I totally get your frustration. The worst thing which you never experienced on this one is the tractor coming down the narrow lane, they never give way. I had one down near Crediton, in my Camper (Iveco Daily) and I had to reverse about quarter of a mile and uphill in a narrow lane. The bastard literally only had to go back 50mtrs.

I deliver from DEX2 as well, last block they had me go down an unpaved kilometre long track which the satnav did not recognise (took me the exact opposite direction but luckily I had a drop on the way). It was NOT car friendly and struggled to get back up the hill on the way back. One of the worst drops I’ve done.

At £11.31, that works out at about £9.50 with tax deduction alone plus you have national insurance after that plus hassle of filling in tax returns, claim mileage. As you say, you would need at least £16 per hour and even that is poor for self employment status and can lead to bad quality of life if you need to top up your earnings imho. Thanks for the video :)
@autohustles6 ай бұрын
You’re assuming 20% tax, but that isn’t accurate. For all you know, I could be paying 0% tax if I’m below the tax-free threshold, or 45% if I’m in the higher tax bracket. This is why I don’t include it in my calculations. It’s irrelevant and completely unique to each person. For the record, last year by tax bill was about 9% of my profits, mainly thanks to mileage deductions. Thanks for watching 🙌🏻

Just wondering as from watching it doesn’t appear that you have the yellow “driver aid” stickers from Exeter. I’m lucky enough to have 4 logistics depots within about 45 minutes of me and two of them seem to use them, one uses them sometimes and doesn’t use them at all. I can’t even explain how much easier it made things once I realised they existed. For those who don’t know it essentially labels the products by number in line with the drops so drop 1 would be 1 etc etc, get blocks done in half the time now.
@autohustles8 ай бұрын
We get those driver aid stickers with the simple 1, 2, 3 etc. but only on the same-day delivery evening blocks - daytime ones have the other type (which I think is for DSP drivers) which I find largely useless!

I have seen other drivers have difficulties with Amazons mapping. I’ve seen a video where the app had two deliveries in the same street programmed at different times, and this was absent a time slot constraint. My mate uses an app called Circuit, he says it’s night and day the best for delivering he’s ever used. Driving in rural areas does have its challenges, I’ve had four punctures from thorns from when the farmers cut the hedgerows down with the mechanical arm. I’d definitely make sure I’d a full sized spare tyre with me if I was driving in the sticks.

I already know I’m screwed before I even scan it. But the truth is that keeping us in the dark is the ONLY way Amazon will get people to take these shitty routes without paying more upfront for rural routes. This trillion dollar company doesn’t give one hoot about the damage that some of these routes cause to our vehicles not to mention our personal danger. I’ve had to deal with so many loose dogs in these areas that I try not to get out of my car and instead just drop the package out of my car window.

21:15 I thought I was the only one that had this dilemma. It’s especially annoying being that I have been unable to find a 9-5 job here in the US that won’t pay me a 💩 wage. The job market for good paying jobs is tough right now which gives the gig apps an unfair level of leverage for now.

Did my first Amazon Flex on NYE after being on the waiting list for 18 months and I was pretty happy with the run they gave me as most of it was houses within a couple hundred metres of each other and all except one had a safe place for me to drop the package (so sadly did have to go back to depot) but the Amazon navigation in the flex app was absolutely horrid and I refuse to use it whenever possible.

If you're going to do Morrisons, I strongly suggest you scope out the store that you're wanting to deliver from beforehand or an extra 15 minutes early for your first block because some stores can have unbelievably bad out of hours access to the Flex pickup area that's most likely different from the main entrance and not going to be massively obvious (or just a bad inside layout in general that you'd need to get used to).
