My Worst Financial Mistake buying a Panamera from Copart!

Every car I get for myself is always from Copart. I got no problem with them. However, this time I was careless a bit and ended up overpaying. This Panamera from Copart got repaired back to spec and became my worst financial mistake of my life. When you are looking for a car on Copart be careful not to make the same mistake I made! Thanks for watching and stay tuned for my 240sx build!

I enjoyed your video and I appreciate your honesty. It takes a lot of guts to admit your mistakes. Lots of guys doing the Copart thing and they all try to make it look easy. Everyone wants to make videos of how much profit they make and how smart they are, but you rarely see videos of people being honest about the real costs of repairing a vehicle. On the bright side, you have a really nice car that's been fixed right and should last a long time. There's no shame in that. Good luck !

Its a big thing that happened in my life so why not tell others and maybe help someone make the correct decision. It definitely is not easy and you have to be detail oriented to get that right car for a good price. Take care!

G NEWS I agree with your sayings, but the stralership will rape him harder than co part did, he should just keep it, and drive out his money’s worth, any other options than that, he will end taking more loses, at least he’s the owner of a nice model porch without a monthly car payment, nowadays the stealership organization are a mafia waiting to butcher any customer on sight, anyone buying 2018 models good luck after warranty run out, if you’re not a millionaire, you’re wallet is up for assassination.

The book might say salvage, but the car looks nothing like that. In actuality, that car looks brand new. I made same type of mistake. However, unlike you, the fixing was crappy and it still hurts till this day. I have an advice for you: enjoy your car until the tires literally fall off. Don't sell it; I believe you'd regret it in the end if you did away with it. Don't let a buyer enjoy the fruits of your labor. Beautiful, beautiful car you've got there bro!

Awyatt Mann not in all cases! I know some that are able to sell the cars overseas and even locally for more than what they paid because of how great the outcome of fixing the vehicle was. For the most part I’ll say it’s better to just buy it to keep it not try to sell it. You will enjoy the beauty of some cars for a much lower cost 🍉

Sorry to hear this but you do have a cool ride. I've bought two from Copart here in SA and i totally get the frenzy purchase. I made a rule of having an excel spreedsheet and I have 4 to 5 vehicles on the sheet with my max bid in one column and next to it the total fees and next to that the total cost. My final column is what percentage of the total costs are fees. Not uncommon to get out bid on all of them but I then shut down the app after that to avoid the frenzy bidding/buying. Other thing i have is the time to bid on the cars. I'm finding the quicker the car comes up the better shot I have. Also thanks for your honesty.

This illustrates why high end , complicated cars of today will never be worth fixing. That is also why their values fall rapidly after 3-4 years-buyers know that a single problem can wind up costing thousand$$ to fix. Add to that the difficulty of working on them 9engine compartment packed to the max); i can see why no one wants them.
@4wheelfunBros
@4wheelfunBros 5 жыл бұрын
At the same time, imagine a salvaged high end older car. Now compare that to the same car with a clean title. Most likely all the warranties are out for that clean title car, so when you go out to buy it, why not go get that same car from an auction? You will save some cash say for those future repairs. I understand this is not for everybody though and also this project of mine was how not to do it lol All in all, I agree with you that these high end cars loose value and the only ones that hold or gain value are those rare older sport coupes.

I was gonna do the same thing with a repair shop. The guy found a white 2012 panamara with front end damage, 40k miles and said the work would take about 2-3 months to fix. 6 months later, after it STILL wasn’t done and the guy was very unprofessional, I walked away from the deal. He was selling the car altogether for 21k, financing it for around 30k. I found a guy selling his on Facebook for 20k with 80k miles. It’s a gray which makes the car look VERY nice. I paid cash for it and loved my decision. I love the car, period. Everybody thinks it’s a brand new panamara and it gets a lot of attention. Trust me bro, you did not make a mistake. I’m keeping mines because I plan on getting the Taycan in a few years and the panamara will be my first Porsche. I had it checked out at the dealer and I love the Porsche “lifestyle”.

@@4wheelfunBros I do like the look of the new shape but it’s not a “true” Porsche in my view. Just like all these models like the Macan, cayenne, 718 cayman and boxster. Porsche made these other models to gain some market shares in those markets I guess, but for me, although I have to say are for the large part amazing vehicles. I just could not own one. 911 whether it’s a 911, 911s, any of the GTS, GTRs and turbos are really true Porsches in my view. It just so happens that all the 911s hold their value extremely well, relatively speaking anyway. Aston Martin comes to mind. Dam, those things look massive but when you sit in the thing and drive it I have to,say it’s disappointing for me at Least. I sit in the 911 and although the car is quite compact it felt quite comfortable and extremely exhilarating to drive. I will be turning 50 in November. I am going down to Porsche on Thursday to put my order in. Apparently it takes 18 months to 2 years for a 911. I was told 6 months for a 718 cayman which could possibly interest me. The same for the 718 boxster too. There is no way I would drive a boxster though. That’s just me. Everyone is different! I mean, who in their right minds buys a cayenne turbo. It’s laughable.😄

And that is reason why kids I don’t buy salvage cars and stay away from them. I only stick to clean title because I know if the car has allot to fix but as long as everything get fixes I know nothing will be wrong with it. I don’t want to rebuild a salvage car it cost time,money, and allot of things. I give you credit for admitting mistakes .

Not so bad. Car looks new. Keep it and Enjoy it. All car purchases are losing propositions from a financial standpoint. They all lose value. Don't waste money in cars when young. Buy a reliable used car and keep it for 10 years. Use the money that you would have wasted and invest in mutual funds instead. When you are in your 40's, you'll have over 1 million put away. Then you can splurge and get an expensive car.

Biggest Mistake people make when they get in car business they trying to look good with out making much money but driving nice car but dont have much money in their pocket...I been in car business for 8 years right now have over 110 cars in inventory but never was chasing nice cars just to drive them..I had it all Porshes,X6,M5 etc but always wanna make sure its a good deal..You will learn as you go...Salvage Cars takes to much time to get ready for sale never was in it....Everyone makes mistakes but not everyone learn from it..Hope you did

we all trip up like that lol, with these cars only buy them if you have the parts already, and you gotta ride them for a quick bit and sale them. cant hold on too long or your profit will disappear as the face lifts and new bodys come out.

I wouldn't recommend buy from Copart Unless you can go personally and inspect vehicle..Biggest problem when you looking car for yourself that you dont wanna take your time and wait for good deal because you so ready to buy it and drive it so you would pay more then you would other wise...Just take you time and Make sure get a good deal so when you ready to sell it hope you wont lose much if anything...Also very important what seller are you buying from!!!! i only buy from Big Franchise dealerships ..Good Luck

It's not legal, but it happens all the time through title agency incompetence and a little effort and knowledge from the title owner who wants it to happen. One of the worst states known to do this is Pennsylvania.

Nice car young man I'm in the UK and buy some salvage from copart here. Remember there are three people bidding for the car you me and copart ! If it don't make what they want they just keep entering it back at auction. One final thing. Set a budget and stick to it. Good luck

It depends. 34k isn’t a total bust. It’s a great price to end up with a solid Porsche. The backend value on a salvaged title vehicle is only a downside on the backend. So enjoy that shit lol

buying a car on a copart is too risky. For a $20k car after you add up ~$1500 copart/broker fees + ~$2000 dmv fees, + $ fixing it, it's not that much of a sweet deal anymore. I bought one myself and after all the expenses it was about $3000 less than the salvage market value. Great car but considering the time spent and risk i don't think i'll do it ever again.

I have the Turbo model. Same color. Great car. Fun to drive and gets compliments like crazy which isn't important but it is a bonus. I have no intentions of selling it. But there's a huge penalty for that. I would pass it to my son if it last long enough but this means at some point it won't be worth nowhere what it is today. 147k sticker price and its already worth $105k less than when new. Depreciation has slowed down some but still loses value of at least $1000 a year no matter how good you take care of it. Options: Either sell it within 2 or 3 years or take a loss. Or choose to keep it until the maintenance become higher than the value of the car. For example: If I ever have to replace the Twin Turbo V8 engine say like after 18 years or 200k miles, that would cost about 60K new. The car wouldn't even be worth 1/3 of that. Maybe 20k for a used motor but even if I was rich it wont be worth it. Better to junk it, buy another Panamera (or put a Chevy motor in it and that sucks) but that's the reality of not selling your exotic, racking up the miles and loving your car too much to let it go.
@4wheelfunBros
@4wheelfunBros 6 жыл бұрын
Oh my! For the size of the car its relatively light and with a turbo v8 that thing must pull!! I had the 6 cyl obviously and it had plenty of power for city driving and even cruising on highways. I did sell mine and decided to take the loss since I want something else, just dont know whats in store. Yep, cars are metal at the end of the day and dont hold value like say a house but the turbo Panamera will always be a classic. I know it will never look "ugly" so might as well keep it/drive it! Thanks!

If you keep losing by one bid, that's a scam; its likely the seller outbidding you from another account to keep the product from selling below their desired price.
