Love this - great camerawork - and no talking or music. Just letting the camera speak. Took my first Burma train way back in 1991. Love the rain and the mist - and the background noises. Brilliant stuff.

Train journey extravaganza Mark. Amazing and super enjoyable viewing. To travel over that viaduct would frighten me. So interesting watching the people and the movement of luggage and food snack supplies on the stations.Wot else can I say except thankyou for bringing this 81 year old such pleasure,

...muy interesante el video, me gustó!..., la frondosa naturaleza. el transito lento del convoy de pasajero, a través del profundo valle, hecho sobre el puente, la bruma del bosque..... las estaciones. la persistente lluvia...todo lindo..

Another amazing video. It's so calming to trundle along so slowly, with the cars rocking, except for the bridge crossing, which made me nervous even on film. Thank you for sharing. How did you end up in what is seemingly such a remote area? Do you speak the language? Did you sample the food on the platform? Is there a conductor on the train that's collects tickets? Is train travel very inexpensive there? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to ride that train myself and I'll never be able to.

Hi there, thanks vor the great comment, its really appreciated. Myanmar is a beautiful country, and the people are lovely. Hahaha, yes crossing the bridge should make you nervous, it did me while filming!! The bridge is on the way to Lasio in the East of the country, and it is a lovely scenic route to travel, and easily done, fo you don't mind the 4am start from Mandalay. I don't speak the language, but most people we encountered spoke quite good English. No we did't sample the platform food, and I can't remember about the ticket conductor, but sure there would have been. It is very cheap to travel. Travelling by train in Myanmar is so interesting, not only a great way to see the country. but also to meat real people, who are so warm and friendly, I love it. If you look in my Mayanmar Playlist you will see several other videos of journys etc. Thanks again for your interest and support, take care

Classic video again Mark, as always, it brought some memories back, especially the people and village scenes. I made the mistake of getting the ferry from Rangoon up to Mandalay and back around 25 years ago, disgusting, dirty and smelling of diesel fumes and oil plus cockroaches crawling over you as one tried to get some sleep on the deck or bench seats, not to mention foul and blocked primitive toilets on board! "Upper Class" carriages, very colonial expression from the old days eh? "Wetwun" station, certainly was a "Wet One". Gokteik Viaduct was an engineering marvel in its own. Steam engine water stand at Naung Peng, a relic of the past.
