For over a century, a railway line has crossed Myanmar's Shan province. The Mandalay - Lashio Express connects the hot lowlands with the green mountains of Shan State in north-east of the country. / goran.phuket

The beautiful country following the greatest Buddhist religion of the world. The eternal Sidharth the Buddha had renounced worldly pleasures and comforts to preach peace, compassion and a way out from human sufferings. His teachings are totally truthful and he stressed his followers to pursue truth and asked them to be free to question his belief. Great Buddha who did not talk about false assurances. Indeed the greatest thinker and a man of most holy grace. Gautam the Buddha.

The lady merchant looks like a very genuine kind hearted aunt. This makes me wish I can visit Myanmar. Seems the interiors are stucked in time but Myanmar is also changing very fast. Really worth to watch this video cause Myanmar kept out of the international arena for a long period of time. The production team given a clear message about the struggle Myanmar people are going through without having a proper infrastructure facilities unlike other south Asian countries. It's very interesting to see those people live with in their limited resources and seems to be happy. If is such a beautiful country. Well done production team. from NY.

Such a beautiful documentary. The Burmese people are warm and amazing people. I find it interesting how so many lives are intertwined because of a train. They deserve a much better life without such poverty. How they manage to survive is beyond me. I couldn't survive their lifestyle even if I were healthy. Meanwhile, that family at the end is adorable. They seem like good people.

Lived in Maymyo for over 16 years, the Town was the Jewel of Burma. Very British in its make-up. Lakes, Botanical Gardens, Etc:. Maymyo had it all. All Roads had English Names. Located between Mandalay and Lashio. Garath Steam engine were driven by the Best and Most Senior Personal from the Railway. Trains were run to a tight schedule and people could set their clocks by it. One Big Problem- Insurgents. There were spells when the Trains were blown up. causing Bad Memories. I Loved Living in Maymyo.

Brother.... to be honest, the poor are always content with what they have/manage. I dont deny that poor/we dont have any aspirations, but those are usually legitimate and long term (like education for our children). It is the rich who are never content with what they have. They are greedy, jealous of others wealth and indulge in corruption, adultery and other crimes (which we fondly call free market capitalism). And they usually get away with it using their influence and money power.

If you look from google maps , compare the ggogle earth maps of Thailand and Neighbouring Burma , Myanmar. Am I right to say that Myanmar has a lot more green jungles left compared to Thailand, it seems like Thailand in its effort to develop and provide a living for its people , every available piece of land has been converted to agriculture. In Myanmar there are still unexplored virgin forest , more of it in the high ranges and steep mountains of the foothills of the eastern and central ranges. A clear , depiction of development vs a slower pace of life
