Identifying 80 Backyard Birds! Real video examples of 80 common Backyard Birds Identified by a combination of sights and sounds. All video and sound recordings were made by me - there is no stock footage or sounds these are real backyard birds - mostly eastern half of the US and many migratory. It is not all inclusive or perfect, but you should find plenty of useful information, ideas and examples to pique your bird watching curiosity and other than food, feeders and water - a good bird ID book would be a great initial investment.
Filmed mostly with Canon SX60 and SX70HS cameras available on Amazon at: amzn.to/2QftDPd

My cat loved your videos. He got really sick and could no longer sit in the window to watch real birds. We watched a whole bunch of your videos together the night before he died, and I could tell how engaged he was, even though he didn't have much strength. Thanks for helping me create some last little pleasures for him.

I feed all of my birds in my back yard, mostly inn the winter months,EVERY single morning I go out around 7am , they are all waiting for me,n even tweet my whistle😃 so sweet... I love my backyard , it's full of Carolinas best species. I give nuts to the squirrels,so the littlest birds can eat without those big squirrels being pigs. All sorts of beautiful birds, redheaded wood peckers, robins, cardinals, wrens, blue jays, pine sisken, nuthatches, chicadees, so many varieties!! Fun to watch. I also have a fox, deer n a ground hog...love nature! 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

I live in NC and have recently taken an interest in birds, I installed a feeder outside my kitchen window, had to get a seed catcher because I didn't realize birds could be so picky about birdseed, and so messy! I'll have to try some hulled birdseed. Lately the squirrels have been a nuisance, sent away for a squirrel baffle to keep them away, hope it works. But I love watching the birds at my feeder--cardinals, titmice and chickadees predominate, followed by house finches, goldfinches, bluebirds, little brown birds I can't identify--possibly Carolina wrens--and a red-bellied woodpecker (I call him Woody) drops by once in a while, causing the other birds to scatter. Woody just pecks away, flinging the seeds he doesn't like over his shoulder. The titmice & chickadees fly up, grab something they like, then fly away to it eat. The cardinals & brown birds hang around. I especially love the cardinals, they're so colorful. I hear robins & blue jays nearby, but I never see them & they never come by the feeder. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be interested in identifying birds by sight & sound, but it's really fun!

We have cardinals, mourning doves, House Wrens, titmice , black cap chic-a-Dee’s ,yellow finches, black birds, sometimes a brown thrasher, and some times a Blue Jay & also I know there are more but can’t remember at this time!! We have been doing this for about5 yrs! And still learning everyday !! The past few years I have missed seeing these lovely creatures and missing their voices as well. You have brought back these delights in one hour of watching. I cannot believe how many I have forgotten. I join in the sorrow of losing so many in such a short time. At ninety years of age I must admit MY younger years I spent time watching the different breeds wherever I was at the time but most times as they were plentiful I would take them for granted and listen only to their happy songs. I have always tried in more recent years to put food and water out for them without guidance from anyone as I never met any bird watchers.I hope to stay around and enjoy what you observe and hear and if I find ways to help I will. A difficult chore as most people around me try to kill anything that they think is harmful to their way of life particularly the farmers.

I listened to mourning doves for years on end, never knowing the bird. We heard it when we went camping, especially. Walks to the bathroom in the mourning, it’s comfortably cool, and you hear that dove’s call. My sister asked me about the call a couple months ago, but she couldn’t mimic it. We listened for about 20 minutes before we heard it and she told me “That one. Remember it?” and it brought back every memory. I spent the next two hours that morning, trying to find what bird it was. A sound I hardly ever noticed, and now it catches my full attention. Turns out, a lot of them live in and around the very small city in which I attend school. So I’ll be in spanish, and the windows are open, I’ll hear it call

This is so very nostalgic for me. I go up to Ohio to see my grandparents and I get woke up by 10 distinct birds. It’s a small yellow one with some black crows and the northern cardinal ( that’s my favorite bird ) and I I get woke up at like 6:00am so I just sit up and listen for 20 minutes and then I go downstairs and talk with my mom and grandparents it’s so nice and I love every moment. I only get to go 1 time per year but boy do I love it. We go out side and my grandpa make a cheese board. And we sit out side and just relax and listen to birds. It’s so relaxing and beautiful it’s so green and going to giant eagle is always fun haha 😂

The Black-capped Chickadee is one of my favorite flying dinosaurs!-their curiosity, exuberance, and optimism-they’re brave yet sensible birds! And how you captured the vocal virtuosity of snowbirds-Black-eyed Juncos are a seasonal favorite of many a bird watching New Englander. Blue Jays are confident and bold, intelligent Corvids. Titmice, charming cousins of the popular Chickadees we know and love. Always dapper, Cedar Waxwings, their high-pitched trilling and wispy whistles a welcome ear-full of avian chatter. All the beautiful, lyrical songs of so many wonderful wrens! Delightful images of flycatchers, great and small, and other insectivores, adorable Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and distinctive Northern Parulas, a diversity of finches. Pointy, upside-down Nuthatches! Hummingbirds, the most ethereal of theropods! Rose-breasted Grossbeaks, Eastern Bluebirds, Eastern Towhees, Wood Thrushes, American Robins, Northern Cardinals, Painted Buntings, Indigo Buntings, and more Blue Jays vocalizing loudly, mockingly, triumphantly, imitating hawk calls! American crows and Fish Crows cawing, Common Ravens hunting, Mourning Dove cooing mournfully, Eurasian Collared Doves feeding, Northern Mockingbird mimicking the calls of other birds, Catbirds meowing, Brown Thrashers training for peanuts! Pileated Woodpeckers, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, Hairy Woodpeckers, Downy Woodpeckers, Yellow-shafted Northern Flickers, and Red-Bellied Woodpeckers drumming, nesting, and fledging! Yellow-throated Warblers, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Chestnut-sided Warblers, Eastern and Western Palm Warblers foraging, perching, and warbling! Song Sparrows, Savannah Sparrows, Chipping Sparrows, and Henslow’s Sparrow, Field Sparrow, e’en the intrusive House Sparrow chipping, chirping, and singing! Daytime birds of prey: Red-shouldered Hawk, Cooper’s Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Swainson’s Hawk, Broad-winged Hawk, American Kestrel (Sparrow Hawk), Osprey (Fish Hawk), Bald Eagle, and Swallow-tailed Kite, gliding and soaring! Black Vultures, pausing and purveying, and Sun-bathing Turkey Vultures! Nocturnal Owls and Nightjars: Chuck Will’s Widow, Great Horned Owl, Barred Owl, Eastern Screech Owl, rotating, trilling, and whinnying! Icterids: Eastern and Western Meadowlarks, Red-winged Blackbirds, Grackles, and Brown-headed Cowbirds, Great-tailed, Boat-tailed, and Common Grackles calling, displaying, displacing, ever migrating! And finally the Loggerhead Shrike a songbird with raptor tendencies! And then what comprehensive list of birds would be complete without a Red-eyed Vireo? What a catalog of observable birds! Amazing images and film, capturing significant behaviors, excellent audio and informative captions. A tour de force of birding videography!
