At several points in your video particularly 13:07 off in the distance where the big J is on the side of the mountain is the town of Jerome. Famous for haunting particularly the Jerome Grand Hotel. This time of year is not the best as they're closed down for the season due to weather and cold but if you go further up Mingus Mountain there are some great camping areas and hiking trails. There are a lot of hiking trails around Cottonwood also ranging from easy such as Cliff Rose trail to trails like Parsons Trail which are difficult going down and the rough road getting there. There are several ancient native dwelling national monuments, petroglyphs, and so on in the areas of the Verde Valley as well. Outside of Cottonwood is BLM area too.

Stayed at dead horse 10 years ago tent camping in january at same spot you are in this video. I'd just moved to Phoenix & Dead Horse was the 1st place I ever camped in AZ. I remember It was a pretty cold clear night & the moon was really bright. No other people were in the tent camping area except 1 RV around corner from the restrooms. Was so cold next morning I jumped in car to warm up before hitting the shower. In the 10 years following I camped all over Sedona - oak creek canyon always my favorite place to stay. The sky out there in that area, be it day or night has been always been the most incredible I've ever seen. Magnificent for star gazing (& UFO's as well). Thanks for sharing your adventures & safe travels! ✨💚✨

A new stove!!! Finally! I love those dish washing stations at (some) campgrounds. They are awesome on so many levels - you can dump your soapy water down the drain, the water is warm and plentiful, it gives you the luxury of cooking something sticky or messy or crockery intensive. If only they were installed at every campground that has running water.

GasOne makes 2 burner butane stoves that take the same cans your current stove takes. If you’re headed south, the Parker Walmart has the 1lb propane, the aerosol butane and the pocket rocket style fuel canisters in abundant stock and I’m sure there will be vendors stocked up with stuff once the Rv show starts.

Everyone shops for propane at Outdoor stores , so they are often out. You should have better luck at Grocery Stores , Gas Stations such as Loves or Flying J's , and Circle K's. We have the same stove , used it for years before we upgraded to a Class A RV. Glad to hear you have plans to upgrade. AZ is a good place to start looking for a bigger van as a lot of retirees are either unloading theirs , or upgrading to Class C's or Class B pluses.

I got busey looking over shower stuff for camping and have found the portable camp showers, a foldable bucket, and a little changing room, shower, bathroom all for 65.00 dollars and one may have to heat up some water. This is neat I will get this. Better than the new bug sprayers from the hard ware stores. One will get it together I have faith in one. My list of to do stuff is only three things, and then I got on from here. Have fun no matter what. I watch a person in a bigger van a french Canadian women in a taller van. Take a little bin with a drain, set it by the door and put up shower curtain from a dollar store and use her portable pump and shower. She had long hair and washed this first in another little tub frist. Then it all drained outside via a little plastic hose. So it is doable to do a shower inside the van. Paul in Youngstown Ohio.

Look into getting a 5# propane tank. They hold about a gallon of propane. A bit of an initial investment, but it'll save you down the line. You'll be able to buy propane wherever they refill tanks, and it's so much cheaper. It also saves all those green canisters from going into landfills. You can pick up a refillable canister and a refillable system so you can keep one on hand should your tank run out (or you have that little Isobutane stove). It's a very 'girl friendly' option. Here in Oregon most places sell propane for less than $3/gallon vs over $4/16.9 oz canister-I've seen them as high as $7. Do the math. There are 2 pints/qt and 4 qts/gallon. About $32 vs. $3. I think I paid around $62 or $64 for mine 5 or 6 years ago. You can also get an 11#/2.5 gallon tank that's also fairly easy to handle, but it takes up more room. The 5# isn't much bigger than a green canister. You will also need a hose.
