Thank you for mentioning my experience with Cult Beauty. It’s interesting how many of the issues relate to this company. They really don’t seem to care how many customers they lose with lousy customer service. It’s good that you give people info that they can take action. I think these companies depend on younger customers with less life experience who aren’t aware of consumer rights.

Ever since they sold to THG, I find there to be SO many comments with complaints about customer care. You're right; the target demographic is a younger populace who are just getting into beauty. Remember when, pre-THG, Cult Beauty were all about skincare, and had so many collabs with Caroline Hirons, and so many niche brands? After that, it was all sparkly eyeshadow palettes, and fun products. Space NK have added a lot of makeup lines as well; they used to be all about serious skincare. I think consumer rights need to be taught in school, along with financial literacy!

I have learned my lesson with advent calendars😅😅This year I purchased 2 kbeauty calendars but I know that I will use 95% of items. All products came sealed and with 2027 expiry dates💗💗💗

K-beauty for the win! Now that they're expanding their complexion shade ranges, I'm thinking of moving entirely to K-beauty for everything (struggling to find decent body butters, and eye brow gels). Did you get YesStyle and Stylevana, or was it some other calendar?
@selinvox4643Ай бұрын
@CosmetopiaDigest Hi, yes I know the struggle all right. I got both yesstyle and Stylevana calendars🌷🌷

Renu, I should have realised this so much earlier than I have, so forgive me the oversight. You have missed your calling! Your whole channel should be a beauty ( or even female ) products channel. So many companies get away with pathetic , ridiculous offers / gifts with purchase / terrible service. With a moments thought, I’m thinking monthly subscription boxes, exorbitantly priced single / duo eyeshadow palettes or blush duos / ‘special’ boxes, such as ‘The Spring Clean Edit’ ( I made that up, obvs ) etc. You could also offer better products or alternatives. Just a thought 😊😘xxx

It was lovely to know that brands DO make it work as well - thank you for sharing it!

Oh the cancelling of orders.. now you remind me that I had found a German (I think) beauty website that was selling lots of indie brands from all over the world, they had a great choice of colourful and fun palettes. I bought 2 from them, and then after a few days, my order was cancelled... I was very sad. I found a replacement for one of the palettes in the end, but not the other one.
@CosmetopiaDigest22 күн бұрын
Gosh! The name of the website eludes me right now, but did they close down after that? They had US brands, and even UK ones such as Karla Cosmetics. Rather like what Femme Fatale were doing in Australia (even they stopped doing multichrome eyeshadows during lockdown, and are now only selling nail polish). I feel like the pandemic has changed the world in far more ways than we realise.

After my horrible, traumatic experience with the Cult Beauty calendar with missing items and seeing so many similar reviews. I think they have a big problem with theft from the packing department.
@CosmetopiaDigestАй бұрын
That actually explains quite a lot! I mean, a company that size needs to have cameras in the warehouse/packing area!

Harrods sent me a damaged hair advent calendar but have been a nightmare to deal with and the customer service is pretty much non existent! They aren’t able to receive basic emails with photos and then when you send them a diffent task they request they/don’t respond and eventually when they do have the cheek to tell me to post the entire thing back - at my expense! And they will “consider” whether they give me a refund oh but won’t refund any of my postage costs! 🤬🤬🤬

This is the first year in 5 years that I'm not getting a luxury beauty advent calendar. The whole advent calendar industry has become such a cash grab and not about giving the consumer a great experience in recent years. Nothing on offer was appealing to me this year.
@CosmetopiaDigestАй бұрын
100% correct! They're palming off nearly expired or unsold products on unsuspecting people who buy advent calendars in good faith. They're sending out things VERY poorly packaged. They're refusing to solve customers' problems fairly, and are offering token "pin money" refunds. ZERO thought has gone into designing most of this year's calendars (remember the LF Alice in Wonderland beauty?). They're replacing products with FAR cheaper alternatives, and telling customers they have the right to do so when they complain. It is only a matter of time before a number of these brands are pulled up for false advertising, at the very least.

Thanks for the video ❤. The same with the harrods happened to me. No replay, so I used the whatsapp chat. It was cancelled because the side did not add hazmat shipping automatically. I was able to reorder but with higher shipping costs.
@CosmetopiaDigestАй бұрын
Wait, THEY should have added those costs to begin with - and, when their system failed to add the extra costs, they should have honoured your purchase, instead of cancelling and making you reorder at extra cost. Unfair!
@Wwjj13Ай бұрын
@@CosmetopiaDigestyes. I was a mad haha but I wanted the calendar. Maybe this happened to the other people that ordered outside of UK too. I never got an answer from the support only when I wrote in their whatsapp chat.

I Only bought once an advent calendar in Superdug for my niece, I don't really think calendars are for me because I don't actually need most of the things in there is more reasonable to buy on sale one or two products I really want usually I save a lot this way and sometimes I get a minie for free
@CosmetopiaDigest13 күн бұрын
You are sensible! I wish I had been this sensible - as recently as 2018 or so, I was buying up so many calendars! Now I'm wiser (hopefully), but poorer :(
@kseniiat766Ай бұрын
Oh, I remembered. Last year, I bought H&B calendar, which I really liked but the body cream had the expiration date of March 2024 and I discovered it in October 2024. XD To be fair, people who use body creams daily would've gone through it till March.
@CosmetopiaDigestАй бұрын
I remember; you got it via a third party forwarder! WOW that's a shame. I hope you wrote to them about it, and they refunded you? I think expiry in March is cutting it a bit fine in a calendar that people open in December - products should be valid up to December of the following year at least!
@kseniiat766Ай бұрын
@@CosmetopiaDigest frankly, I didn't even think about it. I realized that when it was almost out and it didn't break me out, so I wasn't mad at all.

You know, you talk about value all the time. If a company offers $10 credit for an item customers were told had a $30 value, THAt COMPANY thinks it's only worth $10.00. Or that they think that the goodwill of a customer is only worth $10. You know what really kills me? That each of these stories is from someone who spent hard earned money or credits. We aren't beauty youtubers with huge viewing numbers who get sent stuff for free. This is a real and unkind attack on not just our money but our feelings toward the industry. And they Just Don't Care.
@CosmetopiaDigestАй бұрын
They only care about the top influencers, or celebrities! They act like they're ENTITLED to us spending our money, and we don't even deserve to get the products well packaged, or sent out correctly, or to get proper refunds when something goes wrong. The time has come for us all to vote with our collective purses. What if EVERY ordinary customer (who isn't a HUGE blogger, or celeb) decided to boycott Cult Beauty, for instance, and went and bought their products in-store at Boots or something? That's the only way to change things. But too few of us will, sadly :(

I've heard that it has become unbearable in store, with snooty staff who only pander to the glitzy money-hurling kind of customer :(
