According to The Irish Times, Live Nation Gaiety Ltd. also bought Rory's AC30 (£25,600) and Dallas Rangemaster (£12,800). Both will be on display with the Strat. Great news and it will be a great display.

So am I.. And I'm a Dane Viking invader... My late Dad arranged Rorys first concerts here in Denmark, back in the 1960's. He took his dad, a Louis Armstrong-fan, to the first one, and that's why I know of Rory: My grand-dad told me: You have to hear this Irish-man!!

Great content as always - those early fender amps are intriguing - they must’ve had transformer mods which will have affected The overall sound and feel… From my research, Fender Amps were only available in the UK to buy new from the late 1960s- Check out the Beatles Let it Be movie - those were Some of the first fender 220V amps to hit UK soil straight from the factory - apparently, the fender rep was hovering around the studio…

Is it me or do the similarity in prices for so many items suggest that they may not have met their auction reserve? I mean who would pay £7040 for an Encore Les Paul junior which you would normally expect to pick up for £100 or less? Even if Rory had played it regularly on stage, which he didn't, it still wouldn't be worth the reported price. My hero in the early 70s so I don't like to see this sort of practice.

He paid £100 in instalments for the famous Strat, from a famous musical instruments shop in Cork by the name of Crowley's. I bought my first set of drums there, a second-hand 5 piece Ludwig kit.
