If you want to be able to fight and recover AT THE SAME TIME, you can use this method of berathing in boxing. Often when we punch we exhale, and that's fine. But, if you are strigging to recover, control your breathing with nice full breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth, whilst still throwing straight punches. They don't need to be powerful, they just need to manage the situation, keep the opponent busy, until you've had your period of active recovery.
