You do much more justice to that beautiful dress than your mannequin does. I admire your artistic interpretation of fabric and patterns.

I am always amazed how you do such a good job with the machines you have. It shows that a person doesn’t have to spend a fortune on fancy sewing machines. The dress is fabulous as always and you are a fantastic teacher.

Very fun dress. I would suggest using a tiny piece of white thread to mark dots on dark fabrics. Easy to see and remove when no longer needed.

I have enjoyed watching your videos! I was taught to use "taylor tacks" for the circle dots. This might help you with future "busy" fabrics.

You’re the first person I’ve seen, who’s also made this dress! I was going to make it to go to a summer wedding with the theme of English country garden. I made a toile of View A, largely because I didn’t have enough fabric to make the version with the frills in the big picture, which was what I wanted for the wedding. In the end, I decided I didn’t love it enough to make it for the wedding, but I did go ahead and finish it, and it’s definitely wearable. That hem drove me crazy with all the petticoat corners, and I ended up doing it three times! I think I need to try it on again and put a hook and eye on the bodice because it feels like it’s gaping a bit. I’m probably going to try and wear it in the winter with tights and boots and a black crewneck sweater underneath it. I have a feeling I might prefer it that way. I love your version much more than I love mine and I think I’d have got a better fit if I’d seen your video first, though we were actually making them at the same time. Thanks for another great video, I’m binge watching at the moment!

Your fabric is gorgeous and the whole dress is beautiful! The color way really compliments your hair and skin tone. BTW, Good old fashioned tailor tacks work well for fabrics unsuitable for marking pens.

That cotton fabric is so bold. I love it! I’ve never seen a gathering foot like that one. I’ve seen that technique before, just not the foot. That was a fantastic way to get all that lace gathered. I wasn’t sure about the lace sleeves, but it looks fabulous. Good job!

I prefer View A, I think. The center ruffle seems too much to me. I also like the cleaner lines without the lower ruffle since it’s got a handkerchief type hem anyway. 😂 Had to finish watching later. Your take on this pattern came together quite well🙌🎊 I agree that a set of pockets could be very handy. Might want to tuck some cash in one of those for the outdoor market jaunt.😉

The fabric print is so cool! You look great in this dress style with your " red" hair. ❤ Lace is gorgeous. I remember you saying the dress took 7yds . With altering how much of a difference did you save approximately? My Fabricland is moving so had to pop in 😂 . I picked up 2 vintage style Buttericks as I've been wanting to try. I don't remember them having Simplicity. Will check my Lens Mills .🇨🇦🤗

Enjoyed my Friday mourning with you. Now you need a gypsy wagon and bangles, and on to the county fair. You always look beautiful in the fun fabric. I have looked at wawak for the foot you used with the heavy top stitching thread to gather fabric and I don’t see it as a choice. Is it still available as I don’t like the gathering method of two rows of basting stitches ?

Hi Marie! I just heard about your channel from Donna. She recommended you because you do tutorials. I want to learn how to line a dress or line a top or line a skirt. I think whining a skirt might be the easiest to start with. So do you have a video you can recommend to me here of yours to start with?
@mybucoliclife Жыл бұрын
Oh that was sweet of her 😁 as far as lining, it really depends on the style that you are sewing, the method that I would use to line it. I will link a recent video where I mind a sheath dress, which is a pretty easy method, and one that you can adapt to skirts and tops hopefully. Hope this helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5ScnqaDmtSgl7s

How did you work the corners of the ruffle to attach it to the dress? I’m having difficulties with the ruffle in the corners.
@mybucoliclife7 ай бұрын
I can't remember exactly, but I would probably stop at the point where there is 5/8" before the edge, Leave the needle down, turn everything and then head back up the other side. I hope that made sense.
