I appreciate your honesty. When you miss something you show us how to fix it without making a fuss over the problem. Showing folks of all ages that it is okay that problems arise (most of the time, in a way, that most folks could possibly come to the same problem) and you show it can be remedied in a truthful and efficient manner. Take a break, then come back and face the issue(s). Being brutally honest with ones self is a plus. Many live in a fantasy world, they give up without facing the problem and never learn from the process. We have young people out there that want to learn how to sew, they can learn so much from you. Thank you for being honest. You help present and future generations to actually sew but, also learn how to focus and work through their problems.

Such a cute fall themed dress! Love the lace trim. I’d have to add a snap to the neckline, because of potential wardrobe malfunctions. As a primary teacher in an earlier life, it was my experience that kids often accidentally found ways to exacerbate this and any other potential wardrobe problem. (I could share stories, but won’t.🥴) I’m personally not a fan of wrap dresses for exactly this reason. 🤣 The floaty sleeves, the upper folds, the sash, and the skirt make this a comfortable and very soft, feminine looking dress. Congratulations on working through the hurdles to complete it.🎊

As you said “trials and tribulations “ are a part of sewing. Sometimes I get frustrated with certain patterns but I’m like you, I stick with it. Hi Marie, you are right about the fit. I made it when the pattern came out and while it was a nice fitting dress the bodice was not the most comfortable thing to wear , my bust is 34b but i don't think it's the fit, it's something about the design of it.

Thank you for sharing your make including all the tribulations and adjustments. I tried to make this dress a few years ago and knew I needed to do an FBA straight away. After 3 toiles and a very messed up front bodice I called it quits. I did buy the pattern again in a sale later on (I’m in the UK so we don’t get sales as often as you guys in the USA) and resolved to try again someday. With the changes you’ve demonstrated her to get a better fit I feel better able to tackle this pretty pattern and will put it on my list to try for next summer! Thank you so much, your dress is lovely and the lace is very pretty and feminine.

I’ve made this dress and the bust height and overall front drape was good as is for me, however I am short, especially through the upper torso. I’ve always had a smaller/higher bust. After 46 years and 3 babies I finally feel like I don’t need to move the bust line up 😂. The only adjustment I had to make for the top was to shorten the waist.
@lindafederer Жыл бұрын
Wow, impressed how you stuck with this pattern, doubt that I will purchase it! Life is toooo complicated to deal with darts adj , lengthen bodice???? But it turned out lovely on you and lace did add a cute detail

Your dress is so darling. Suits you perfectly. Too bad about running short on fashion fabric. Pocket fabric was a good fix. Seam across the back gives the illusion of a yoke. Too bad you didn't sneak an inside pintuck across the other back piece to make them match and look intentional. It was a struggle, but you overcame the lowered bust saga. Huge win. I'd wear it.😁

What a story. I’ve had this pattern in my stash (and fabric earmarked) for awhile. Just wondering, if one were to leave the left portion of the bodice (the one underneath) as is, splitting the bust in half, do you think that would work? Or would the seam line show through to the top side. It might help with the gaping during one’s wild, twisting ways. The dress looks great on you.
@mybucoliclife Жыл бұрын
I'm really not sure how that would work. Lots of fabric yoga happening with layers and connections. Maybe try it on a mock up 😉

Hi Marie, I love watching your channel. I’m wondering if you could have added inches to the shoulder seams on the front of the dress to lower the cross over?
@mybucoliclife Жыл бұрын
Hello, unfortunately that would not have worked because it has a fitted waist, and that would have pushed that fitted waist 2 inches longer... Have used that technique on other garments though. Depends on the design, sometimes it works well 😉

I’ve been enjoying your videos and watching them with great interest. I’ve decided to get brave and ask you a question. Is it possible to use quilting cottons to make this dress? May you have a wonderful day.
@mybucoliclife Жыл бұрын
Yes definitely use a quilting cotton. I think that that's very similar to the fabric that I used. Just make sure that you pre-wash it in hot water and pre-dry it in hot temperature to make sure that it's shrunk up, cuz most quilting cottons are 100% cotton and that could be troublesome if you don't. Good luck!
