@@nirushs8382 Now a days Skoda and VW offer service packs which makes them service vise economical. I own VW polo from last 11 years and such scheme was not available that time . This was first generation and fully German made. Still I kept service cost under control by customization based on actual need and not by service center quote . VW and Skoda are in different league and one should buy it only if wanted to part of it. These cars gives immense pleasure of driving. Others from my family too now choosen for VW and Skoda.

Additional point : The resale may be lower for sedan compared to SUV, but you have to cough up about 3-4% upfront. Not only this the mileage will be higher in sedan compared to the SUV.

It's good and ideal actually coz cars are meant to be kept for 10+ years generally. We don't keep that's different things but most cars are mean to last more than 10 years if kept nicely and unless major fault occurs. And after 10+ years one cant expect good resale in any car I suppose. Never care about others opinion only look for your drive experience

An informative video. But it all depends on the purpose of purchase of vehicle. Still there are many buyers who keep the vehicle for long term. It is my belief that one shouldn't reject the car only considering its resale value. The comfort, ride & build quality, safety can compensate lower resale value.

Although currently Sedans don't have market share, but Sedans will have market in India.. it will definitely bounce back. In my opinion people in India (mostly first time buyers) currently just wants to buy a car by appearance and SUVs seems to appeal them a lot. However, after several years, they will understand what car really means. They will start thinking about Driving dynamics, handling, performance, space etc. A few portion of people are slowly realising that these SUVs are nothing but jacked up Hatch backs. When people start thinking about a car beyond just road presence and appearance, I'm sure they will start considering sedans as they are more suited in these aspects. I've always been a Sedan lover and proud owner (Honda City 5th Gen. Earlier we had Maruti Suzuki Esteem). I never liked these pseudo SUVs. And ofcourse Sedans are more attractive in terms of looks, driving dynamics and performance. ❤

Presently VW-Skoda Cars are offered with Free Maintenance for 4 Years. Inspite of 95% localisation they are expensive when compared to the price they offered T-Roc TBU with High Import Duty. After 5 years owners might experience their Realistic Pricing of Spares & Labour Charges which would be expensive than competition for sure. Most of the European Cars are high in maintainance in India. They are trying hard to survive because of poor Sales Nos. against established Maruti, Hyundai, Tata & Mahindra.

@@srikanthparidala3310 It all depends on the speed & Impact at the time of accident. If on the highway with speed exceeding 80 kmsph than the equation of 5 Star Safety Rating in Crash test will change for sure. Maruti & Hyundai are quite good in City Traffic where average speed is less than 15-20 kmsph maximum & in chaotic driving conditions the NA 4-Cylinder Engines are better than TSI. Because engine Turbo Kicks in only after 18 - 2000 rpm hence it hardly makes a difference in City traffic. In fact TSI or TC engines might not offer good efficiency when compared to 4 Cylinder NA Petrol Engine. If the Car is used for everyday commuting in City conditions I might not spend ₹2 Lacs extra for TSI or TC for sure.

In my opinion 50% of Indian car buyers give more weightage to low cost of ownership and resale value more than the driving dynamics of any car. This is the reason why Maruti continues to lead the market even after 35 years of it's operation though it's market share has come down. Used car markets in India will always have buyers as people will continue to upgrade to cars from 2 wheelers and not all of them will have the means to buy a brand new car. Unless the government comes down very heavily and restricts the life span of vehicles with compulsory scrapping after some years of registration this market will always be there and even vehicles of companies that have folded up in the recent past will continue to sell albeit at a lower cost compared to others. Take a look at the display of any used car dealer and you will definitely find some models which were discontinued or from companies that folded up and left India. People can expect to resell their car of any make but not at 50% of the price they paid when they bought it new.

Biggest mistake of Renault and NIssan was to go with 1000 cc engine. 1200 engine would have got them more buyers. Even with a turbo engine on some models, crawling performance (bumper to bumper traffic) is poor. It only pick up after 1600 rpm
@richarddragon9108
@richarddragon9108 Жыл бұрын
I agree, Renault and Nissan's decision to go with a 1000 cc engine instead of a 1200 cc engine seems to have been a mistake. The smaller engine size affects crawling performance in bumper-to-bumper traffic, with noticeable pickup only after 1600 rpm. A slightly larger engine could have attracted more buyers and provided a better driving experience. Hopefully, they take this feedback into account for future models.

@terrybatman Sedans were more popular than SUVs before 2012. It was the launch of Duster in 2012, followed by Ecosport and Brezza. That made SUVs popular. And that trend continued to gain more momentum. While roads are getting better every year. If it was roads that were forcing people to go for SUVs, the situation would have been completely opposite, SUVs popular initially and Sedans getting popular every year as roads got better. Resale value of the vehicles depends on many factors including their maintenance cost, after market parts availability, fuel consumption, reliability. Sedans or SUVs are choices of people. If we just take as an example Polo, Swift, H-city has better resale value than Xuv500, Duster, Eco sports etc. People made choice of buying the so called SUV's because of the road conditions, If we have proper roads in place Sedans are ultimately the best driving experience with comfort.

Except the video is not regarding whether these vehicles with low sales and the vehicles from companies who have left India are bad. It's about how they have low resale value because of their low sales. For many people in India, resale is an important criteria for the simple reason that a middle class family is going to use that resale amount as a down payment for their next car. If that is not a certain buyer's criteria, then they can simply go for whatever car they like - Jeep/VW/Skoda etc.

While buying a car below were my preferences 1. Milage 2. Features 3. Space inside and in boot 4. Infotainment system. I did a very thorough research and took many test drives (altroz, Fronx, i20, slavia, city, creta, venue, Nexon and hyundai verna.) While there was no perfect car the best value for money I found was hyundai verna. Ride quality and peace of mind was in sedan segment. Space and milage was also in sedan segment only. While I made a conscious and good decision of going with sedan, I did not care to think about resale value. Most of the Indians love their car and do not sell them in 2-3 years. I am also a very proud owner of 2011 model hyundai i10 which I denied to exchange while buying new car.

I have a few comments, and my car enthusiast friends (and the experts) are free to correct me if i am wrong. Firstly, when we say Indians are buying SUVs, it is not true. We are not buying SUVs, but only hatchbacks that have been raised. 2ndly, many amongst us are much concerned about 'average'. I hardly notice people buying a car based on safety. No one asks kitne airbags hain? ABS, ESC, TPMS, Impact Sensing Door Lock... yeh sab toh koi puuctaa hi nahin, in India.
@rajeshkhanna7036
@rajeshkhanna7036 Жыл бұрын
I also read people wanting to buy a raised hatchback (sold to us as SUV) saying Indian roads are bad. But is that not a story of the past!! Most roads we travel are OK roads, highways too are pretty smooth. Haan potholes etc hain, but unke liye I will not buy a Scorpio N. Plus, how often would you go to Leh or Ladakh! Aap delhi se Shimla jayen, Katra, Dharamshala, Nainital, Binsar, or even Goa, the roads are fine for a good, comfy Sedan.

@@rajeshkhanna7036 What you are saying sounds good but isn’t really true. Firstly, a lot of people nowadays buy car based on safety. They also like mileage yes, but now most people value safety and car sales reflects that. They might not know what complex safety systems are but everyone asks for how many airbags there are, whether the car has ABS or not. Second, buying SUVs is not a recent trend. It’s always been like that. People used to buy Innova and Fortuner, Safari, Scorpio earlier also. Now the number has increased because these are the only options left. Sedans kitni kam hogayi hain ab. Civic, Elantra, Sonata, Accord, Skoda Laura, Octavia, Superb, Jetta, Passat, Corolla Altis, Prius, Hyundai Accent, Kizashi, SX4, Renault Fluence, Nissan Sunny aur bhi kitni saari. Jab bikengi hi bas SUVs toh log wahi toh lenge bhai.

Models like Magnite, Kiger , Punch , Venue , Nexon are also called "SUV"s . What most people look for in a vehicle is Sunroof in a hot humid and dusty country like India so that they can stick their necks out when the vehicle is running at 100kmph to take selfies without knowing how unsafe that is.

People don’t buy VW, Skoda , Jeep or Merc etc not to resell. In India still kitna deti hai mentality prevails. These are premium cars and there is set of customers who will buy these not all. For people like us Maruti & Hyundai are good where smaller cars are produced in lakhs. Let’s not compare premium cars with Maruti etc.

All cars you recommended not to buy are actually the best cars in segment for safety, technology, drive ability, power to weight ratio and mileage..but people like you will propose only dabbas and loha.. people like you are worried for resale the moment they buy car.. enjoy the car, you have bought for yourself and use it for minimum 10 years before thinking for sale. But obvious you will suggest to buy Dabbas and Lohas because these will function only for 3 to 5 years.. 😂😂

Consider and test drive XUV 300 Diesel Manual. Super driving experience than petrol. Try to drive in a high way its fun to drive. Mileage average 12 to 16km. W6 + addition accessories cost almost same as petrol W8. Drive atleast 1.5L km. XUV 300 petrol comes with 3 cylinder engine and we don't know the condition 3 cylinder engine after 50k kms driven.

I had to cancel my booking with the dealership because they were imposing exorbitant charges. Despite my attempts to negotiate, they postponed the delivery until after Dashera. Unfortunately, I couldn't accept the delayed delivery because I was traveling from Karnataka to Maharashtra, and Maharashtra's BH numberplate requirement further complicated the situation. I booked the car back in may 2023 with dealership. I was in top 5 persons.
