Back when MTV was still relevant and played videos, this music video came on one morning when I was staying with my grandmother for a few days. I’d never seen her cry before but she shed tears watching this video....For context, my grandma was engaged to a man who died in WW2. These emotions are what music is all about.

I never said I'd lie and wait forever If I died, we'd be together I can't always just forget her But she could try At the end of the world or the last thing I see You are never coming home, never coming home Could I? Should I? And all the things that you never ever told me And all the smiles that are ever, ever Ever get the feeling that you're never all alone? And I remember now At the top of my lungs in my arms, she dies She dies At the end of the world or the last thing I see You are never coming home, never coming home Could I? Should I? And all the things that you never ever told me And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me Never coming home, never coming home Could I? Should I? And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me For all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me If I fall, if I fall down Woah, woah, woah, woah Woah, woah, woah, woah At the end of the world or the last thing I see You are never coming home, never coming home Never coming home, never coming home And all the things that you never ever told me And all the smiles that are ever going to haunt me Never coming home, never coming home Could I? On Nov 19, 2024 my best friend and I traveled to France to see the D-Day sights. It was cold, raining, and a low overcast cloud layer. It was an eerie wet day. As we approached the round about in the city of Les Moulins which gave full sight of the beach I had played this song. It gave me a very chilling tone to seeing a place where real humans gave it their all that day. Many unaware of what sacrifice they were about to make in the face of real raw terror. 18 year old boys who would never grow up to be fathers. As we approached The Dog Green Sector of the beach I envisioned everything I could imagine that happened on that day. This song will forever be an experience that will always remind me of that day I visited Omaha. May God rest their souls. Thank you for honoring them through expressive music.

Exactly! It kinda reminds me of that one part in filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, where Fred dies and of course George is just devastated, but their actors were seriously really emotional because you can't just watch your closest friend die like that. This is one of the best and emotional music videos. I think I was about 17. I got my grandpa who was in the war to listen to it first. He seemed to like it, strangely. He asked if there was a video for it. Reluctantly I showed it to him. It hit him hard but he appreciated our generation still admired them enough to include it in "new kids music". To show respect. His words. I then later cried because seeing his hard ass cry to a music video I already cried to was just too much. He's gone now. But I think of his cool badass self everyday.

@@tylerp3327 he did say his grandpa appreciated the current generations respect for all that occurred in his generation. There is a level of respect that goes into making these kinda music videos real and powerful too. I think MCR nailed it and I think his grandpa appreciated the realness, even if it brought up hard memories. He asked if there was a video for a reason don't you think? If the man lived to tell his stories and asked to see the music video I would be reluctant too, but id still respect his choice. you dont know how much it could have meant to him, even if it hurt. MCR respected his fight with this music video and I hope thats what he got from it. May he rest in peace. I salute you till I see the grave myself

Should I? And all the things that you never ever told me And all the smiles that are never ever... Ever... And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me For all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me If I fall If I fall down At the end of the world Or the last thing I see You are never coming home, never coming home Never coming home, never coming home And all the things that you never ever told me And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me Never coming home, never coming home Could I? Give gerard an Oscar for acting. Though i think he actually made himself believe it happened amd didnt act. Like the behind the scenes he legit screamed his name. That hurt me ouch.

elisavet that’s literally what acting in the highest form is, reacting, if you ever go to a play and maybe some movies where a character breaks down, it’s probably because the actor/actress found something that truly evolved those emotions and built on it.

I pulled numerous deployments cause I kept volunteering, I didn’t know anything else and I didn’t wanna come back unless it was a body bag. I had numerous friends lost overseas that came back in body bags. Lost my best friend the first deployment, grew up together and went through boot camp together, A school and stationed together. People here don’t see what we see, people don’t wanna see it. People don’t understand that we do things we don’t wanna do. We do it anyways....1988-2001 was my time of enlistment. 66yo US ARMY RETIRED, this band and so many others in their genre in the 2000s were more than just punk-emo-or pop. They delt with subject matter that pretty bands wouldn't. I love and hate this song- but it was a song that needed to be written, needed to be sung, and fit to a part of a military person's life the civilians have no idea about, and nor do they want to. When you live a life where death is always there, Soldiers, Police, Firefighters, you know what's real, you know what's important, and you savor every day you can the ever-present Reaper from. And if you make it out, you look back at all who didn't and at a society that never will. So many heroes forgotten for so man fakes. A talent not forgotten in a music world of today where original music is castrated by untalented performers ruining the pure form so many iconic songs were written in from 60s to the 90s. I sure miss this and so many other bands from my better days. Bless the soldier and the families that support them.
