MyChess (TRS-80, 1980) - Let's Play!

MyChess is a chess program that apparently kicked Sargon's butt, and was the precursor to the famous Chessmaster series - let's check it out! We'll also check out the April 1982 issue of CLOAD magazine! WOOHOO!!! :)

I mean, at one point you both had both rooks and all pawns still on board, with the remaining pieces gone. Rook endgames are notoriously drawish, so a draw would be the expected result. And they can drag on quite a bit, but I guess you know that at this point :-) Maybe you had a chance when you had more pawns, but when you missed that he could take f3 with check followed by f4 it was already a dead draw. As for the Chessmaster series: A good way to see the lineage between Mychess and Chessmaster is to look at the C64 versions of Mychess II and Chessmaster 2000. Mychess II takes the Kittinger engine and adds a board and proper UI. Chessmaster 2000 takes the same UI and engine, and expands with more polish and a bunch of new features. After that they changed the engine a couple of times. Some versions of Chessmaster 2100 actually uses a Spracklen engine (i.e. Sargon). Then they went back to Kittinger (Mychess) in 3000, before changing to The King in 4000, and they used that for the remaining series.
