Thank You so much for all your valuable tips on how to take care of my Bird of paradise. I live in New Jersey USA and She was growing so nicely outside for the Summer! As it began to get cold, I brought her inside and placed her too close to a radiator in my corridor!! Her leaves began to curl and dry up. I removed her immediately, I checked soil, and of course it's dry!! Thanks again🙏🏾 hopefully she'll recover soon.

I found a sad little BoP with a "free" sign on it next to a dumpster this spring. Literally just left it outside all summer and kept it watered, looks great now! Been wondering where to go from here though, thanks for the longer format video covering everything. I know the video is a couple years old now so maybe you've discovered the magic of the tapener by now, but watching the staking/tying segment, I couldn't help but thinking a tapener would've saved you a ton of time.

I loved your video. I've been a plant freak all my life. People (mainly my kids) give me their broken down terrible plants for me to fix. Now I have a son whose partner tries, but just doesn't do the trick, so I'm trying to wrestle it away so I can nurse her back to health. She's got everything bad, so watching your video gave me super good thoughts as to what to do exactly as ive never cared for a bird of paradise plant. Thank you !!

Thank you for your very informative video! I got my bird of paradise from A group of office co-workers 2 years ago after my mother died. I've had it in this excellent spot with the indirect light and it has been flourishing! It has grown tremendously and toppled over one time because of the weight of the leaves. Hi! Congrats on your new plant! Please thank your friend for the recommendation. Make sure the plant has a good light. Do not water unless the soil is dry enough. Get Soil Meter bit.ly/2yuXVpc to test the soil before watering to make sure the plant is ready. Meter reading should be down to zone 4-5 before watering. Green Luck! 🌱

Beautiful transformation Juliette, without your help Phoebe would have needed to move into her own apartment soon. What are the best propagation methods, will cuttings root?
@Mycityplants3 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, 😀😀😀 If you have multiple stems, you can separate them and pot each in an individual pot. Pruning roots is ok! The plant will go into shock after pruning/repotting but will recover and stabilize. When pruning roots (if needed) make sure to use sharp tools and clean with rubbing alcohol before using. Green Luck, and thank you for watching! 🌱

I've had my bird of paradise for four months and it has not grown one new leave 😢. I love in an apartment with only south facing window. Im afraid it's not getting enough sunlight. The dirt retains moisture for weeks; could be because not a lot of sun ..... i can stnd that about this apt. I may have to give it away😢 or move out. In winter climate with the heat on, it's a crazy situation. I appreciate yourvinformstion, and your BoP is absolutely beautiful and Huge!!!! 😊 Tyfs!!!
@MycityplantsАй бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching! A south-facing window should provide plenty of bright light for your Bird of Paradise plant. Keep in mind that four months might be a bit early to see new leaves, as the plant needs time to adjust to its new location. During this adjustment period, growth and water intake can slow down. Additionally, plants aren’t in their active growth phase right now. In spring and summer, during the active growth period, you’ll likely see more new leaves. ** You may learn more about how to care for your plant in my Bird of Paradise Ultimate Care Guide: mycityplants.com/plant-care/bird-of-paradise-care/ Green Cheers & May your plant grow happy and healthy! 🌱

First of all, I appreciate how you answer all of the comments. Second, I know this is a dumb question, but when adding a humidifier, do you use cold or warm mist?
@Mycityplants10 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for your kind words. Both types of humidifiers are suitable for plants, and the choice between warm and cool mist comes down to personal preference. *** Cool mist humidifiers are more electrically efficient and can help keep your electric bill down :) Green Cheers!

I’m having the issue with the leaves not entirely opening so I appreciate the tips and will get right to it after work today! Also, I had mine out in full sun last summer and the leave’s curled up! I couldn’t understand it bc I’m used to seeing these plants around in PR with no issues under full sun, but the watering makes sense so I will keep an eye on that this Summer, ty!

Hi Myriam, Thank you for watching 🌱 1. Bird of Paradise plants that spend winter indoors are not as hardy compared to plants that grow outdoors all year around. When moving your plant outdoors for the summer, it is best to place it in a shady location outside first for a few days, then move the plant to a partially sunny location for a few weeks before finally settling it under a full sun exposure. *** I would recommend to keep your Bird Of Paradise in a partially sunny or shady location during summer times. 2. Leaves might not fully open if the plant is not getting enough light, if it is root-bound, over or under watered, lacks nutrients or due to low humidity. *** You may also take a moist soft cloth and wipe an unopened leaf with it to help it to unfurl. Green Cheers and May your plant grow happy and healthy!
