Did you spray the workable fixative on the page before you began using the colored pencils or at the end? Sorry, I'm a newbie and am just trying to figure out pastel backgrounds. I'm so afraid I will ruin one of my coloring books by not doing it properly.

I sprayed it after I finished the pastel background but prior to using the coloured pencil so the pastels didn't smudge. Make sure you use a workable fixative though. I also sprayed the entire page at the every end to fix the pencil work 😁
