I was not taught it in home ec, that I can recall ( fellow student of the 70s 😊) so I'm with you, I was super stoked to learn this today, and I love the hem technique she is teaching .

WOW, I'm particularly excited over a couple techniques in this video. I look forward to creating a project wherein i insert lace. But what im really stoked about is learning this new, to me, way of sewing the hem, and learning to make that style of seam ( as found in denim pants). Ive a sewing pattern and fabric for such a project but had never before known how to sew the hem. I have attempted a similar seen on a shirt which was executed differently and did not turn out nice like this, so yes, im really excited about what i have learned in this one, today!

Great ideas, many thanks. I’ve tried masking tape but I found it sometimes pulls at fabric. Now I use painter’s tape and no problems. Thought I’d pass info on.

What type of sewing machine are you using? Great tips. I use blue masking tape called painters tape as it’s not as sticky as the white one and is easier to pull off. I also use it to make a marker on the machine bed for a straight line guide.
