Kim Seonho’s case was so absurd that the ex’s friends had to come in his defense. Can you imagine? Her friends had to come out and expose her because she was being a psycho. People from the industry had to come out to defend him too and of course his friends too. He had so many people on his side willing to receive backlash because they knew everything the ex said was either a lie or heavily distorted. He got some of his advertisements back and one movie out of three but he loss too much. He lost 2 movies, he was kicked out of his variety show, he lost a few advertisements still, he doesn’t interact with his fans on social media anymore, variety shows/radio shows don’t dare to mention his name anymore like before as if his name was cursed or something. Netflix Korea is trying to erase him from his own drama and denying him and the entire cast of their well deserved achievements, he was edited out of his variety show, he was blurred in a tv cable. He continues to be disrespected by so many companies in the industry even thought he was proven innocent. He’s being treated as if he has been blacklisted. Korea’s cancel culture is deadly. They changed this man’s whole life because they couldn’t wait and listen to his side of the story and wait for the truth to come out. Then they wonder why their celebrities k word themselves.

Why are actors and idols so heavily persecuted for things that happened when they were kids? I don’t know of any adult who doesn’t have a past. I also think that bullying is so deeply ingrained in Korean society, it has become the “go to controversy” whenever someone is attacked by the public, because it is so believable. Bullying is also shown in most dramas, whether in school or in the workplace, on a regular basis. Funny thing about it is, in dramas, the bully always changes in the end, gets the girl he bullied to love him, and becomes a hero. How ironic.

It’s sad how some of these actors and dramas get canceled over something very minor or trivial. When is a work of fiction distorting history when it’s fiction. How about innocent until proven guilty? They are canceling people at a drop of a hat. I don’t like who they are dating I’m going cancel them. They didn’t follow protocol I’m gonna cancel them. It’s bad enough the dramas already depict a lot of what’s wrong in Korea and all this just further proves the point. It’s sad.

Timing is not enough ground to dismiss an allegation. Lets think of it this way u can easily forget a nobody but if that nobody becomes famous u will be seeing his or her face everyday, listen abt them everyday to the point that reliving past trauma could become unbearable, people cry when the pain becomes unbearable that is why an allegation can not be dismissed solely based on timing
@nanalexia67062 жыл бұрын
@@gamesong6600 However you can't always take the side supposedly victim in this case as it would be unfair to these actors and idols. Most of these claims were proven to be false however the damage had already been done and those people lost the careers they worked hard for. if the bullying was so bad at the time then it could have been reported then. Most of those actors didn't even have influential parents so reporting those cases wouldn't be hard and would actually serve as an example that bullying is not okay. Let's say it was too unbearable and you had to wait a few years do it then. But you still chose to let go of it and go on with your life. What I don't like is when these actors are at the peak of their careers, you suddenly found the strength to report that case ? And on top of that a case that happened in middle school (more than 10 years when they were still kids ) ? If you had changed from how you were all these years, why assume the person who was responsible for the bullying had stayed the same ? Now tell me didn't they report it out of bitterness when they saw them being so successful while they were still struggling in their lives. If they were happy and were also successful in their careers would they have bothered to report it ? In no way I am making an excuse for bullying. But it's also an act of bullying as these actors will face death threats, harrassment and will lose everything they worked for, especially if what the victims claimed were false. And most of the time when it happens, people would say smthg like "At age 13 I could tell right from wrong" however at that age you also did questionable things you regretted as you grew up and learned more. Be grateful for your parents who taught you a lesson as there are kids who are doing things much worse because that's what they had been raised into. And be grateful there weren't hundreds thousands of people berating you for the actions that you had done a few years back even if you drastically changed from then. The only thing these actors could do is find them(even though it would still take a while to find them)and apologize for what they did. But I am sure even then they would still make it public to ruin them. That's just how people are.
@cassiereroni2 жыл бұрын
It's utterly ridiculous that any of these actors have their lives ruined just on the say so of someone else before it's even investigated to reveal the truth. And even if the allegations are found to be lies that actors life is still shattered. And I agree with many here that bullying, while devastating when you experience it as a child, should not be a reason for someone to lose their career over. Unless, of course, the bully never stops bulling even in adulthood.
@emillys2 жыл бұрын
They were bullies in their childhood and got cyberbullied in adulthood. in these cases the actors lost their jobs because of things they did in their childhood which is wrong in my opinion . who in the world has never made a mistake , bullying and being a bully in schools is a natural phenomena across the globe that most adults went through . I'm not saying it's ok but it happens and most kids see it as having fun with the victim and once they grow up and understand its danger they stop. but what these netizens are doing is cyberbullying which is more harmful than the traditional bullying because it targets one's mental state plus most of them are adults which makes it worse.

It depends on the severe amount of bullying and if they changed, but I can not say that the K-netizens are right either because they often involve the families which is out right wrong, as for all we know they are often innocent and blameless people. So basically all you have to do to end Korean actors and actresses careers (include K-Pop idols) is say they were bullied by them when they were in middle school. I wonder when elementary students are going to do the same thing? One of my favorites Ji Soo no longer has a career because of something he supposedly did 14 years prior to being accused, really??? Stories like these make me feel bad for the actors. Actors are people too. They have a past they may not be proud of, but that doesn't have anything to do with their acting. Cancelling or reshooting shows just because they have a not so nice past is a bit much. I get that it might be a culture thing. I understand to a degree. I am just one of those people that judge an actor on their acting, not on their personal life.

@apoetsbrain67942 жыл бұрын
I started but dropped the video after the first actors case. Too toxic. The actors could have done bad things as they are humans. I am not tolerant of such behaviours either. However, i find that the cancel culture is more toxic and damaging. Additionally, it is completely unforgiving of people who have changed their lives. A confirmed bully 15 years ago unless proven to still be a bully now is already a different and transformed person. Thank God for Jesus who asked the crowd this; 'he who has no sin should cast the first stone.' Actors are just basic human beings. Some so-called fans or haters judging them harshly have probably sinned worse than anything these people could have done. Sad.

Excuse me but false accusations of abandonment & neglect when he still took care of her after the lies (KSH), or false accusations of R (JS), that's beyond evil. I completely agree! Financial compensation should be introduced in Korea to stop these false accusations. Trying to sabotage a person’s career is no small matter. South Korea’s zero tolerance when it comes to bullying is great but what good does it serve when bullying gets reported at such a late stage? It should be dealt with in school not at the height of someone career. Kim seon-ho’s ex is bitter shame. I get her frustration though and we all make bad decisions in our lives. She probably agreed to the abortion and hoped that he will stay with her but now his career is flourishing and nothing is holding him back, she felt the need to expose his ‘true colours’ with the efforts to tarnish his reputation. Such allegations shouldn’t destroy someone’s career. I think he is a good person because he came out and apologised respectfully. 🤗

Bullying is part of cult and culture in SK. Nice to pass laws: how about protecting the innocent! Many accusers are simply jealous, plain and simple, and will explore any option they can to profit economically from their stories, not to mention lawyers who think they will profit from the lies being told!

Cancel culture seems to be everywhere. Remember Kim Hyun Joong. It's been 8 years since the accusations against him and despite it being proven that his ex lied, the viewers still boycotted his 1st tv programme after returning from military service (personally I quite liked the show but I'm from the UK). It seems actors are held to much, much higher standards, to the point they can't have any personal life. Such a shame. If it's something serious like r*pe, m*rd*r, assault etc sure everyone should be held accountable but it seems stars are vilified before the evidence is in. Innocent before proven guilty and all that.

For ksh case, i followed this since day one and looked after all the details and sources, he is a good person who met a "psycho", the definition of toxic relationship! The only thing he apologized for is hurting her because he broke up with her through a phone call and told her that he basically stopped loving her because *she kept repeating the same mistakes again and again*. How selfish!! Like didn't she think it was hard for him too, that HE WAS HURT too because of how he kept finding about things too late? that he had to take a break way from her for a whole month before he's able to let her go, how much she hurt him and how much he had to let go (he dropped out of a movie when they were dating) because he wanted to be committed, yet she didn't show any kind of responsibility or commitment. She's smart but dumb, she used screenshots she took to prove her claims and it's funny cause all those screenshot were in favor of him, but she covered them with lies, stuff thet nobody would know about and there's no way to confirm bcs it was between the two of them. Did she forget that she send those screeshots to her friends bcs she want to brag and "show off"? Her obsession to the point of taking photos of him unknowingly, imagine how terrified he must've felt when he discovered those recordings of him in her device! There's so so so much to say after going through the whole articles and following those anonymous acc that kept "throwing the truth" here and there about what happened actually. I'm a big KDrama fan from the USA - I knew very little of Korean culture before I started watching KDramas - understanding that they are dramas and may not be 100% true to life - but I was shocked at the physical and verbal assaults in some KDramas - if ever an employer here in the states kicked an employee in the shins or slapped an employee or screamed at them, threatened them, or discriminated against them because of their gender, or sexually harassed them - HS - you'd have the Labor Commission and so many government agencies that would prosecute and fine that employer - in short - it appears to me that there is an element of "bullying" in the Korean culture that needs to be admitted and addressed and intervention/education should begin in the schools - I have yet to view a School-themed KDrama that DIDN'T include bullying. Where were all the teachers, principals, counselors, and parents while all this "alleged" bullying was/is going on in these schools? It's not fair to "pin-point" only those who went on to be successful when it appears you ALL do it to some degree or another.

If that is really happening in everyday life in S Korea I will never watch an other series or want anything to do with the place. I don't care if that is their culture. We are not in the middle ages anymore. Any sort of violence towards an other human or animal it should be punishable by law anywhere.

If it were that bad then the people at fault are the teachers and Heads of School who failed their pupils. To raise issues to end someone's career is just plain wrong. That is true bullying.!!!!! I really wish that Jisoo will return to our screens his talent is too valuable to loose. As a Western woman in my fifties, I find this bizarre. It makes a mockery of real suffering. During my lifetime I have witnessed my sons at War and deal with Terror attacks. As an Army veteran myself, I have seen young men and women fight and give the ultimate sacrifice for their Country. Something that since 1950 has never happened in Korea. (Thank God). What makes the headlines? I was bullied at School! I was sexually abused. If the case then it is for a Court of Law not an Employer to deal with. I think public shouldn't "cancel" celebrities who are accused of alleged bullying so quickly. It's so easy to make an accusation but hard to verify/prove. Usually only have the "word" of the accuser, what they call bullying often turns out to be not bullying actions and many bullying accusations are later found out to be fabricated. Plus, alleged bullying usually occurred during early school years. Why should something you supposedly did over 10 years ago when you were an immature kid affect your adult life?
@elaineforan47512 жыл бұрын
I just can't understand how shows can be cancelled just like that because of netizens. What about the jobs of all the crew members and cast? I really appreciate history and I love watching historical dramas because they introduce new history that I may not have heard of but I never expect them to be accurate. Complain about a documentary if necessary but not a drama with zombies and time travel in it, those are obviously not historically accurate. If I was a producer in the industry I would steer clear of expensive historical productions and stick to the same old formulas hoping that there would be no controversy. Do these witch hunters not realise what they are doing with cancel culture?

Late and, many times, wrong accusations of bullying are a worse form of bullying, mainly out of jealousy and spite and shouldn't be taken at face value before being investigated. Other things that are portrayed in Korean series that I don't like are violence, rigid hierarchical structures where younger and poor people can be abused and disrespected, forcing people to drink in social gatherings, ridiculous overreacting, putting food on everybody's mouth with their own sticks, going to bed fully dressed, etc. All of this, and much more, makes me appreciate my European culture much more and may explain, in part, why the suicide rate in South Korea is so high.

Most Korean/ Chinese (and many Western dramas) are historical distortions. There'd be no Chinese dramas if this was not the case - unless you think that female heroines were able to so freely go out socialise etc, as portrayed in these series. There were a few episodes on Taxi Driver which told the story of a severe bullying done by a group of high-schoolers to their fellow classmate, and long story short Lee Je Hoon's team taught them some unforgettable lessons, including Pyo Ye Jin's role. Just how baffling, pretencious & ironic the whole series would've seemed and felt, had 'the other person' who was supposed to portray someone who couldnt stand bullying turned out to be the bully herself in real life. Good thing the replacement was done before the production team finished filming Go Eun's (Pyo Ye Jin's character on TD) scenes.

Ridiculous that someone has to have a clean image from kindergarten on. Like your life is ruined because you colored outside the lines. It’s that ridiculous. A 5th grade bully can rehabilitate themselves and lead a responsible adult life. Holding someone responsible for mean things they did in school is so severe an attitude that it says more about the people judging others. Did it ever occur to them that their are people who benefit from spreading rumors about rising stars? I won’t be surprised if it’s others in the entertainment business with a stake in knocking someone down and use these anonymous sources to get rid of the competition. Or some envious ex schoolmate. It seems to happen right as the accused if reaching some real star power. Think about it.
