Thank you ...I have watched several how to's and no one ha ever mentioned the space between the fog machine and the back of the container. I plan to make my first chiller this year. Have always had 2 small foggers but never tried the chiller. Thanks again.

Not been a hater but... i belive the plastic hose didnt cool the fog maybe removi g the hise a d let the fog pass thru the ice cubes will give a better resolt or use alluminum pipes..
@mygame5954 жыл бұрын
If the fog goes thru the ice, it will condense it with water and the fog will not last. The hose keeps it dry.

If you're isolating the smoke from the ice with a tube, you want to keep the cold water in your cooler. It will improve better conduct heat away from the tube; which ideally shouldn't be an insulator (as that vacuum line is.)
@mygame5957 жыл бұрын
spblackey not draining the water will cause the ice to melt faster.
@spblackey7 жыл бұрын
The only way that happens is because it's keeping that tube colder. The water+ice stays at 32 degrees. With draining the water you're losing thermal mass right out the bottom. If your tube connections are sealed tight I would say give it a try and let the water fill up. Hell you could even throw some rock salt in there and get the mixture down even colder.

@@spblackey just wondering, have you experimented with this type project and if so, would dry ice work better? Just wondering.

The vaccum line is not insulated. It is thin plastic. The pipe keeps the smoke dry. If it goes thru the ice dirextly, it gets too heavy. I have do ne it both ways.

All that work for the same result of a fogger with no ice hmmm

Just use frozen water bottles in the cooler and attach a small CPU computer fan powered by a 9volt battery to your pvc pipe and suck or blow out fog then there's no need for a drain or hose inside the cooler . it's what i did works good .

Instead of all the couplings and reducer and hose why not just run a 2" pvc pipe through it by itself and silicone up the pipe at the entrance and exit locations? What purpose does the hose provide that the 2" pvc couldn't?
@mygame595 Жыл бұрын
It gives length. Thus allows the smoke to cool for longer. Pvc doesn't have the thermal properties of vinyl tubing either. Smoke needs to be cold

Has anyone compared the 2 types of chillers? Passing through a tube entirly through with ice around the tube and out .. VS .. out of the inlet then actually through the ice and back into an outlet. Efficiency output etc?
@BrandonElliotSmith3 жыл бұрын
The latter seems to work better, based on this clip kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYLXmX2Grb9nkMU . Far less work as well & the last part of this video clearly shows the fog quickly rising, which defeats the purpose. To each his own tho.

If used out door's,,mist the grass/ground with water.this will further chill the fog, and it will cling to the ground..

No, what will condensate the steam amd weigh it down. The water is warmer.

I am just now researching fog machines , and i want a low lying fog for sure... Whats the advantage of doing all this work vs just buying a low lying fog machine? thanks
@mygame5957 жыл бұрын
Ryan LaBarre dont know of a machine like that. The oil has to get hot to become a steam. Once its hot it floats. Blowing through the cooler will drop it to a temp less than the ambient air which will cause it to fall. The only way to do fog without this is to blow across dry ice.
@tomfarmer82577 жыл бұрын
What I've found in the past is that the low lying fog machines usually have a small area near the fog output area that is designed for you to place ice. The fog machine will then pass the fog through the ice container to achieve the low lying fog effect. The difference is in the ice container area. In the low lying foggers, the ice container is very small (typically the size of a quart bag), and the ice is used up (melted) pretty quickly. Because the fog chiller has a lot more space for ice, you don't have to add more ice as frequently. So if you use a chiller instead, it does 2 things - 1. lowers the temperature of the fog a lot more than a low lying fogger & 2. allows you to pass through a lot more fog before you need to add more ice to the fog chiller.

Tom Farmer no such thing. The machines all vaporize oil. Dry ice blowers are what yall are thinking about.
@tomfarmer82577 жыл бұрын
Actually from a consumer-level machine, there is such a thing, and they heat up the water-based fog fluid into a gas, and then eject it as a vapor. For example, on the FrightProps website, they list an Antari 1,000-Watt - Low-Lying Fog Machine (www.frightprops.com/fog-bubbles-snow/low-lying-foggers/1-000-watt-low-lying-fog-machine-0718.html) and it specifically points out that it uses standard water-based fog fluid and that you can use either dry ice or normal ice cubes to cool down the fog when it comes out of the fogger. On page 5 of the manual, it reiterates this information in the operating instructions. On the Spirit Halloween website & in stores, this a 400 Watt Low Lying Fog Machine (www.spirithalloween.com/product/decorations/fog-machines/400-watt-low-lying-fog-machine/pc/1005/c/0/sc/1012/48272.uts?thumbnailIndex=5) that also uses standard water-based fog fluid, and has a container at the front of the low lying fogger where you put the normal ice cubes. If the discussion is instead focused on professional level fog machines (which are a great deal more expensive), then yes, there would be a different process and benefits between the two approaches.

The fog is not sticking on the floor outside. I would of recommend the dryer type tubing that is like aluminum foil paper material. Also Froggy’s freezing fog juice is better for a chiller.💨💨💨💨💨

Very well done, awesome skills, good job on keepin it dry, this will probably last long....- But your fog doesnt last long and isnt thick! you gotta use more intense fluid to make a real "walking on the clouds" experience....
