The ancient population from Siberia that carried y dna haplogroup Q and from which the native americans split to migrate to the Americas also mixed with the incoming indo europeans and thus their DNA migrated westwards towards Finland and Scandinavia in smaller amounts. Haplogroup Q peaks in certain places in Fennoscandia at 4%. EDIT: got so caught up mentioning not particularly relevant Paleo Siberians that I forgot to mention that Finns carry Volga Ural admixture, since they came from west Siberia originally (N1c), and are 8% East Eurasian on average. Finland is 61% N1c due to a strong genetic drift.

The Baltic percentage is not that surprising since the Finns and the Estonians are culturally related so no wonder your Finnish ancestors mixed up at one moment with some Estonians. I'm French and I sent my dna sample last month. I'm very excited !

Baltic genes may be Russian
@danbaltic9678
@danbaltic9678 5 жыл бұрын
@@aleksandrvasilev6723 actually Russian genes are Baltic as Balts lived in these regions long before Slavic speaking people's came. Some 2000 years ago Baltic tribes used to live even around Moscow. There were just Balts in the south and Finns to the North
@timomastosalo
@timomastosalo 5 жыл бұрын
@@danbaltic9678 Slavic people lived more south then, when the Balts lived up to the Moscow area. But there's is no separate Baltic gentic backrougnd. The Baltic people are genetically a mix or the Scandinavian, Finnic or Uralic and the Eastern European - often near 1/3 of each. Interestingly the Lithuanains ae those who have the greatest percentage of the Urlaic inheritage - up to 40%, Estonian have nearly 1/3 of each, and the Latvians have the most of the Eastern European DNA. Which could have come during the Russian ruled centuries, because Riga was the most interesting place in the Baltics for the Russians. But the whole Baltic language family is in ancient relationship with the Slavs - so the Eastern European gene pool likely started to be part of the Baltic inheritage very long ago, maybe in the stone age already. The languages later drifted apart, so likely the contacts very rare for awhile. Like if some Germanic people like the Ostrogoths came to live between the Slavs and Balts for some centuries. Maybe the Eastern European genes deminished for some generations then. But very probably didn't disappear altogether. I wouldn't be surprised if the researchers would find a very old subclade of the Eastern European genes found only in the Balts. Same with the Uralic genome. German background brought some Western European blood - but they are a quite mixed nation: so often they brought only more of the same that the Balts already had - except the Uralic, of course. When the Slavs came to the Baltic they also went to Poland, for example. The Polish are the purest eastern European nation aka Slavic. Of course in the border areas they are also mixed with other backgrounds. And there has been a lot of population movement with n the last century or so.

@@timomastosalo I can agree on quite some of yours points, but other points are totally incorrect, it seems you are interested with this but do not have much connection to the region. Balts, especially Lithuanians have almost no Scandinavian and Ugric admixture. You can check the site of the biggest gene testing company in Europe Myheritage for this information. Balts like Lithuanians or Latvians on average are overwhelmingly Baltic. Most of the Myheritage results of Lithuanians and Latvians I checked have 80-100%Baltic. To see how a 95-100%Baltic person looks like you can check KZbinrs: Ben Mitkus (scored 97% Baltic ) and Sv3rige (100% Baltic). Often Baltics have Balcan or Eastern European admixture , but usually it's no more than 1/3 and 2/3 Baltic. Up untill the Slavs came from the steppe Baltics inhabited most of North East Europe. It is agreed by researchers that most of hydronims in North East Europe are of Baltic origin. Baltics are also a distinct group from others as it historically was one of the most isolated European groups. Last pagans in Europe, also speaking oldest living Indo-European language. Genetic admixture of Lithuanian peasant hasn't changed much for the last couple thousands of years. And ancestors of most current inhabitants of the Baltics are offsprings of peasants

@timomastosalo
@timomastosalo 5 жыл бұрын
I'll continue here in English - I don't speak French very well :) That Asia Minor could indicate your haplotime N comes from Turkey, they have a bit of that. But my main guess would be it's Finnish, who are the main representatives of that haplogroup in Europe. Though their's only 5 million of them. Of course the Balts have 30-40% of that N too. So that direction of the world, is what I bet - Finland or the Baltics. For example, in the 17th century there was the Great 30 years war in Germany and around. It's enough that your ancestor made a baby boy there with German lady, and one of his sons or grandsons moved to Switzerland.

I do not speak very good English (almost not born) Fortunately my friend google translation is here :) yes the German hypothesis seems to me most likely because there is an important German communoty in Switzerland. Besides, certain parts of Germany were part of what was Prussia. There is surely a genetic influence on them.

My Heritage is terrible, I advise you to upload your DNA file to other companies. They said all my European ancestors were Iberian. So they took all my Scandinavian, Greek, Scottish and even African ancestors and called them "Iberian". I told them it's not the same a person from Norway than a Greek person and they (or their volunteers) called me a racist. That's all I can say. So I compared it on Gedmatch and Gencove. So there is an Asian component in Finnish ethnicity...??
@jokemon9547
@jokemon9547 4 жыл бұрын
Of course there is. The ancestors of Finns brought the paternal haplogroup N (most common paternal haplogroup in Finland at around 60%) and the ancestral language of Finnish from the east thousands of years ago. Even today, the average eastern Eurasian admixture in Finnish people is 5% to 15%, higher in eastern Finland. This person might also have Saami ancestors in her family because they are from northern Finland. If you don't know who the Saami are, they are people in northern Scandinavia and northern Finland who speak a language(s) that is related to Finnish and genetically they are also somewhat related to Finns, but they have more eastern Eurasian admixture than Finns do. Interestingly however, the Saami actually have less paternal haplogroup N than Finns do with only around 40% of them having it. The Saami also have 21% R1a haplogroup, while Finns have only 7% of that. I1 haplogroup in both groups is about the same, but the Saami have more I1 subclades that are closer to I1s found in modern Scandinavia while Finns have predominately the specifically Finnish variant (also found in Saami) of I1. The "Finnish I1" is further away from the I1s in Scandinavia, because it branched off quite early and developed into it's own thing away from the rest, mainly in the areas of modern Finland about 2000 years ago, give or take a few centuries.

@jokemon9547 4 жыл бұрын
@@cariocabassa Yes, Finns genetically are very isolated when it comes to Europe. This is the result of a relatively small original population, little mixing with their neighbours like Scandinavians and Russians. As a matter of fact, the Finnish population is one of the most genetically studied in the world. But Finns are also very different among themselves. For example, a Finn from western Finland is genetically more further away from a Finn from eastern Finland than a French person is from a German. This site illustrates quite well the genetic diversity of Finland (before the 1950s) with it's maps: www.fimm.fi/en/research/projects/finnpopgen
