MyHeritage uses tons of marketing trace results. Basically just random 1-3%'s of "exotic results" that create attractions for customers. So the 1% Papuan is almost certainly wrong.

@wodenravens5 жыл бұрын
@@futurez12 These results are not very accurate. My Heritage in particular is pretty notorious for throwing in false positives. Firstly, My Heritage is not the best for British (and Irish) ancestry; for that you should use LivingDNA as they use the largest sample size of modern British DNA and that makes their results more accurate (down to the county level). Also, these tests are not telling you where your ancestors are from; they are telling you the modern populations with which the DNA markers (alleles) are most commonly associated with. The DNA of English people in the west country is often much closer to Welsh, for example, than to DNA from Norfolk or Lincolnshire. Because My Heritage are not very good at picking up on these differences they seem to assign 'Irish, Scottish and Welsh' to people who are in fact English. Because they are merely looking for 'markers' of ethnicity, it is also very common for levels around 1-4% to be assigned to quite exotic ethnicities when in fact they are nothing of the sort. Many English people will carry genes that are associated with Ashkenazi Jews even though they have no Jewish ancestry. These kinds of tests see that ancestry and immediately assign you to that ethnicity as they regard it as a 'marker' of that ethnicity. In fact, you could just be an Englishman who carries an Askenazi Jew 'marker' within your DNA. It is very possible that the Iberian, Greek and Jewish results on this show are false positives. It is also very possible that they are accurate, but in my experience (I have done many of these tests) they often throw up false positives. They are pretty as a gimmicky bit of fun than serious science.

Bob el Silencioso Yes, there is cultural ethnicity, too. But, of course, DNA testing certainly could not pinpoint that. Another possibility is that an ancestor escorted Lionheart's army to the invasion of Cyprus island and returned back home with woman and children. Fascinating, right? My father is Scottish and my mother is German. On both sides I can trace many branches back 5, 6 or even 7 generations. Most of my ancestors stayed put where they were born. So I have expected to have about 50% Scottish (Scottish/Irish/English) and 50% German. But I am about 80% British (43% Scottish/Irish/Welsh and 36.2% English) and only about 20% "East"-European. I wonder if the result is acurate.

Actually did 3 tests and got different results. Always thought I was mainly German and Norwegian, but had less Scandinavian and German and more English and Irish and more Eastern Europe, and one test showed 6.5% Sardinian and 2.8% Italian! Who knew?

@Scott - I thought that also, but I had someone else look at my brother's results when 3% French/German came up and they confirmed definitely French.

So far have done 2 different DNA tests. both quite different results. One showed 55% German and only 2% Scandinavian along with a bunch of other European ethnicities ; My Heritage shows 47.3% Scandinavian and 39.4% North and West European (I'm assuming it means German) + a bunch of other European ethnicities. It must depend on the algorithms each company uses along with the number of people doing the tests and where they are from.
@21_f_aus3 жыл бұрын
With different company's you test with the results will differ from one another... It's based on the algorithm and how they do the tests... like I could be 50% English with Ancestry and 45% English with 23andme and 65% English with my heritage... I done a test with Ancestry haven't got results back yet...

The name Wallace may come from the Old French word 'waleis' meaning a 'welshman'; Richard Walensis was from the Welsh border area. But the Scottish form of the name may refer to a Strathclyde Briton - early records show the name was common in Renfrewshire and Ayrshire

Does it matter for two reasons. You are who your mother is. M a t h e r cause to be the agent mother the route the origin. The main cell cell dividing a canoe being pick your patter is really a donor of alternating DNA. Still more importantly. You're adopted you had someone care for and nurture your body into the best shape it can be. You had someone who raised you and helped hone in your skills. Someone who taught you and shared his wisdom with you. Your dad is more important than your donor

I took the ancestry DNA test looking for viking and found none. It took me 2 weeks to follow this rumor told by my dark age nobles and found these busts that the Romans have 3000 years ago and my family look like twins of these guys still today and my last name means the eyebrow bridge of the Sarmatians. We were the very first horse people and the only tribe the Romans feared and forced us to be their cavalry. Which forced the daughters to be the warriors and defenders of the tribe. The Amazons didn't marry until the men would return to the tribe, they had arranged marriages. They didn't kill the boys but sent them away to hide from the Romans. All Slavs have Sarmatian DNA but we Poles have the most we are 50/50 Sarmatian/Slavic. I wrote THE FIRST HORSE PEOPLE because I was shocked who I was actually decended from. I tell all Slavic girls they will fall in love with their Amazon grandmothers. Did you know that king Arthur and is knights were actually Sarmatian knights patrolling Hadrians wall.

My brother is 56% english and 44% scandinavian. It's a strange result because there are absolutely no englishmen in our family for many generations back? Only danes and swedes. Makes you wonder what it means to be english?
@marchaco7 жыл бұрын
My family are "purely" English going back to the late 1700's. However, my dna results show me as being only 52% British, 11% Scandinavian, 15% French/German, 1% Iberian and 21% undefined North-Western European. Following successive raids into Britain by the Romans, Angles, Saxons, Normans etc, it would seem that there are probably very few English people that are 100% English. The Welsh are probably the most British as their communities were less exposed to foreign invasion. But yes, in summary, and in agreement with you, to be English is a mixture of many European influences. Strangely, your brother is more English than I am!!!
@BigBirdCEO7 жыл бұрын
