Another tip you might like to try that works really, really well: I tape off the outside perimeter of my ScanNCut mat with painter tape. Spray the grid part of the mat with Odif 505 temporary fabric adhesive. Once it's dry, it's good to go for many, many cuts without needing to spray each time. Works like a charm!
@_MyInkieFingers3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the Tip. I think I'll just stick with my Aleene's. It doesn't leave any residue, there's no maintenance, and when I need to cut I can pop on the paper and just cut without hassle. I'm so lazy with things like that so this hack suits me so well. Spray n Go! Haha However, I certainly appreciate you taking the time to comment to let me know what you've found. Sharing is caring. Happy Cutting ❤️😁

OH YAY!! Happy Day! IMPORANT TIP: DO NOT put regular cardstock on a brand new mat. You will be scraping it off. Pinkie Swear. Place a nice clean pillow case on top of the mat to remove some of the sticky. Trust me. These mats are TOO STICKY out of the box, and then within a very very short amount of time are NOT sticky at all. It's a nightmare. Have your Aleene's spray handy and all your issues will be solved. xo 💗

It truly is amazing how many confusing videos there are out there. I think they are confusing because the person doing the tutorial pushes the wrong button several times, then stumbles upon the right one, then regresses because they forgot a step they should have done. It is extremely frustrating. Now, I have never filmed a tutorial so maybe it is easy to make those kind of mistakes, but isn’t that what editing is for? I've said it before about your other hacks and it applies again here ......GENIUS! I actually stopped using my Scan N Cut because I got fed up with cleaning the mats off and reapplying sticky, then finding it was worse than just leaving it alone and using masking or washi tape to stick my images to the mat. This is a game changer. I only have Pixie Spray here, but I just tried it and it worked a treat without leaving any residue. My old mat has one advantage though - I used Eucalyptus Oil on it about a year ago and removed all of the sticky off it, so now mine is just a plain (printed) plastic sheet, so it doesn't collect so many of the artifacts from previous cuts as a sticky one does. (I hope all that made sense.) Anyone who is adventurous enough to try this themselves, just a wee warning - don't go outside of the cutting part of the mat, it is possible the Eucalyptus Oil might smudge or remove some of the black printing. It did on the first old mat I tried it on, but didn't on the new one I later bought....go figure eh? I love your vids, I always learn something new, or get inspired. You're a great teacher. 💕
@_MyInkieFingers3 жыл бұрын
It is a game changer isn't it?! 😎 I'm sorry, but all those people that say to re-stick it with this, that, or the other don't think about us stampers that just finished coloring an image only to find our mat isn't sticky and need to cut it out NOW! Not in 3 or 4 hours after I've cleaned my mat and tried to re-stick it, then let it dry. . What a total P.I.T.A!! (Pain in the ---) 🤣🤣🤣 So glad it helped you Annie 😁💗

Does anyone cut fabric primarily and scan in printed material such as juvenile designs, then cut out the design of choice and applique that to whatever project? Again, am so happy to have found you. BTW, I contacted AllBrands and ordered the material blade kit and an additional mat. My first "cut out project" made me super happy. Just sharing.

What I have been using for the past year now is an elmers glue stick. I rub some on the back edges of my project and sometimes in the middle if I'm using the entire mat and stick to my matt, it works every time. No sprays, no fumes no mess. Try it you might change from thoses expensive cans of spray to just a simple glue stick. When cutting the test cut is to test the blade depth and pressure this is particularly important when you are doing a kiss cut for stickers.

I have a cricut machine not what you have but the mat on mine also lost its stickiness, I finally bought another mat, wish I had seen this tip for the spray tacking before but its good to know for future.

Well now you have a backup! For those larger projects you can now be prepping a mat while one is in the machine cutting. Win Win 😉😁💗

Hi there, just found your u-tube video about finally sticking to the brothers scan&cut, AMEN it worked. SO, I have a question, Do u have a good way to get that blade sharp. I need to cut my items 2x it will not go through the 1st time making me nuts!!!

Sorry a dull blade is a dull blade. I buy these knock offs and they work great! geni.us/nZdB Be sure to install them correctly and ignore the comments of the people who say they don't work. I have an SDX85 and they're perfect! 😉😊

@My Inkie Fingers What about things that you can't spray due to the glue residue which these spray's leave on them? I have many materials that I can not spray , what is your recommendation?
@_MyInkieFingers Жыл бұрын
I don't have one. Other than have a dedicated mat for those things? Sawrie. 😒❤️
@SlowPCGaming13 жыл бұрын
All DX machines can only feed their mats in one direction. The edge with the arrow is the feed edge. The cutout triangular shape is for hanging the mat. Usually how it is marketed in stores. Test cut simply makes a small cut in a portion of the material that you select on the screen. There are different basic shapes to choose from. It lets you know if your settings will successfully cut the material you've loaded before committing time & possibly wasted effort if the settings aren't good enough. The plastic stylus they include isn't really necessary. You can use your finger or finger nail to control the menu options. You can even press and swipe up or down to scroll the screen's options but only if there is a series of menu arrows presented on the screen. Be careful not to roll your mat too much because once you get a crease in it good luck flattening it back out.

Could you use Aileen's in a thin film, instead of a spray? It would be messier, but would avoid the spraying and inhaling part.

Not at all. I've been using it A LOT! *Pinkie Swear* Just spray lightly. One quick mist. You will be fine. Then you can also use it for other stuff like I do in my videos (i.e.. gluing small tedious things lol) 😁🤣💗

love this tutorial, I have had my machine quite a while, ruined my mat by paper sticking to it. I don't quite remember what it was, it has been so long. but your video gives me confidence to pull the machine out again. Thank you
@_MyInkieFingers3 жыл бұрын
Oh please do pull it out! Dust it off and use my light spray trick and you will be so happy! Not to mention the money you're going to save on dies! I have many other videos coming for the SnC so be sure to watch for them 😊💗
@donnas23753 жыл бұрын
Hi Dawn, I wash my mats all the time & you can gently soak & scrub-brush off any paper residue. I usually restick them with the blue zig glue (wide tip) watered down, so it's ok to do that on a wet mat, avoiding borders. Let dry 36 hrs or use blow dryer. If they are too sticky, blot with a t-shirt & remember to dilute more next time. However, I LOVE Cindy's spray tacky glue idea! Must shop for it ASAP! Your mat isn't ruined ;)
@_MyInkieFingers3 жыл бұрын
@@donnas2375 You lost me at "I wash my mats" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 💗💗 Pick up the spray and you will never wash them again 😁
@createinspain3 жыл бұрын
Any re - positionable spray will work, I used them a lot with my other cutting machines. The snag here is that the sprays are pricey, if you are looking at branded ones, certainly. However, dilute Tack it Over and Over in a spray bottle also works:)
@_MyInkieFingers3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it really gets much cheaper than under $10 for this huge can without the hassle of mixing yet another thing! lol 😁😉💗 (If one can afford the machine they can afford 10 bucks 🤣🤣🤣)

@@_MyInkieFingers Ah, but I don't live in the USA, I am in Spain - and aside from the fact it would be dearer here, it isn't sold on Amazon (Spain) and probably won't be as things are more likely to be classed as prohibited (aerosols) in the EU. No local craft shops either!
