I love that you are teaching your daughter that projects like this are not just for guys!!

Of course! She's my fishing buddy too so I like to keep her involved. :)

This was really helpful as I've never used a rivet gun. Thanks for listing the products you used in the description.

Great idea and engineering. I also commend you on involving the young 'un in the process.

Foam and flooring coming next, starting to see some progress! Taking suggestions for floor coverings. Carpet, eva foam, rubber mats, etc. What do you guys think? I'm hesitant on the eva foam because it stains so easy.

Thinking about maybe doing something like this to my Lowe 16/48. What thickness flooring are you using
@mvboutdoors2 жыл бұрын
@@dewaynewebb3467 It's 0.1, little less than 1/8th
@dewaynewebb34672 жыл бұрын
@@mvboutdoors I was pricing some 1/4 inch 4x4 and it was over $400. Maybe I’ll need to go thinner
@mvboutdoors2 жыл бұрын
@@dewaynewebb3467 Yeah it can get real pricey real quick, shouldn't need thicker than 1/8 if supported. This was under $300

Do you worry the the metal on metal supports could create holes in the hull from flexing over time?
@mvboutdoors Жыл бұрын
That was definitely a consideration when doing the supports, I made sure they are only riveted to the ribs so nothing is rubbing on the hull.

@@mvboutdoorsI’m glad i read this comment because on my deep v i was just going to cut small pieces from angle rivet to ribs and then go up with other angles. problem with that idea is i would have to drill holes in the side of the hull to attach the deck . Unfortunately my boat was a closed bow up front that i cut open so i need to put side supports in and drill some holes into the hull

How much did the aluminum for the framing cost?

Enjoyed the video. I am laying a new sub floor in a mod v as well and am curious how far you were able to run your floor with the severe angle toward the bow? Is that why you added the front bench seat? Thanks
@mvboutdoors7 ай бұрын
I stopped about a foot after it started to angle up. I figured since I couldn't walk on the angle it would make more sense to turn it into storage.

Thats what i figured. Thanks!@@mvboutdoors

I’ve been following your build videos. About how many feet of angle aluminum did you buy to complete the floor bracing?
@mvboutdoors10 ай бұрын
I want to say around 3-4 8ft pieces

Did this reduce flex? Im trying to reduce flex as i have a couple rivets that only leak when im mobbing in rougher water
@mvboutdoors Жыл бұрын
It stiffened up the boat for sure. I would rebuck the rivets and seal with epoxy first.

How stable is it for a big guy? Mine flexes and I’m looking to do this to mine
@mvboutdoors Жыл бұрын
It was more than stable for me, you get two or more big dudes y'all have to watch each other but myself and kids were fine

These are built using 1/16 aluminum angle. You purchase it at your local hardware store. I believe I used 1.5"
