Always brings me joy when I see us (Black people) openly enjoying things that "we're not supposed to". As Black man who's into pretty much any genre and who absolutely adores rock, the "girliest" of pop music, to yes also hiphop, r&b, etc. I really hope we, as a collective, embrace different types of things. I've met so many closeted fans of "outside" genres who keep it to themselves because of fear of judgment.

I’ve never cared. But yeah, this does happen: the judgement. Especially in HipHop. If they see that you love things like Evocation or TOOL, then your HipHop opinions are disqualified. Smh, it’s always annoyed me.

Even though I don't listen to this stuff I like watching you talk about stuff you like. It's interesting.

Yeah I feel like Myke also has the talent to make you want to listen what he likes or recommends. Lots of passion in there. I remember his backpack classics reviews. As soon as the reviews were finished and I heard Mykes opinion on these albums I had to dive into them again.😂

1:15 Being from the CD Era. I can relate. Getting a new CD when I was a kid was automatically the best day of that month. Booklets inside with the lyrics use to be seriously important too

Yes to all of this! This album was/is hugely important to me. Someone brought a cassette to school and my mind was blown! It was the first time I'd ever heard anything that heavy, and they are still one of my favourite bands. As you get older and perspectives change, and become clearer, Body Count is still the gift that keeps on giving.

There Goes the Neighborhood absolutely slaps. There's some almost Rocky George sounding solos on this album too. You can tell Suicidal were a huge influence.

You said it, this album is fucking important. I had to order an original CD off Ebay because I was only 13 when it came out. They wouldn't sell it to kids and 3 weeks later it was replaced with the alternate version.

1992 might be my favorite year in metal, so many classics from that year alone.

The only couple Ice-T albums I've heard are Rhyme Pays and Power. I've been meaning to check out OG but this has me interested too, even as someone who's not really into metal at all.

Nice video as always! As a hip hop head I remember bragging in front of my metal friends with this album and thought it was the shit back then hahaha..yeah good times. To be fair it is still a dope album to me, still can go back to it.

Ice-T did for us as Mike Muir did for latinos, gave a voice for blacks and latinos to openly embrace other genres that may be seen as weird or counterculture.

I totally remember when this came out- my best friend and I were really into Ice T and I was into metal, so it was the best of both worlds. We wore this album out.

Going off what I’ve seen in the past, I’ve noticed that you like black metal. Some good black metal came out this year. I’m sure you know Abbath dropped. But there’s a some underground stuff that’s great: Vertige by Türst and Blackest Insurrection by Sidious. That’s my favorite black metal albums for 2022 so far. And here’s another that dropped around 2016, it’s like a psychedelic black metal band. Check out Värähtelijä by Oranssi Pazuzu. Skin Tension is also dope. Their last album is like experimental extreme black free metal lol idk how else to explain it

got this on vinyl 👴/ irrelevant: you should do a 10min retrospective about, what was then called, "funk metal" (if you can be bothered)
