A pleasant surprise to hear you once again, sure as hell will stick along for the ride with your solo takes. Damn DEHH, the end of an era. Still remember the 'good ol' days' of flaming Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Lil B, Drake & Yeezus already a decade ago (times flies). A damn shame I couldn't catch the sendoff live, to show the gratitude in the moment. Mad funny to see your former band Dawn of Orion catch a stray completely out of the blue. All the gratitude, love & mad respect for Myke 'The Kid' C-Town. Thank you for being you, Myke. Best of luck for your future ventures from the Netherlands, ya absolute madman.

Glad to know you will do more videos. Your channel is a great source to discover new music for me. I recently find this 2023 album CYRM by ØXN, check it out. There are some members of Lankun involved, and even if not a metal album, is one of the darkest stuff I ever listened lately, but at the same time so emotional.

Bro I can't believe I was in high school when I found DEHH 12 years ago...coming home and watching your stuff was the perfect solace for a Black kid that felt so out of place back then...which was pretty frequent since I was typically the only Black kid in a class or a friend circle. This might sound weird, but back then, I always related to you the most out of the DEHH crew. Don't get me wrong the other guys are dope but your eclectic music tastes and your unrelenting nature to call out disingenuous bs in the industry made me feel less alone and more like I could be myself. Not to mention growing up being into metal and punk in the environment I was in ....well let's just say you were one of the first adults to give me confidence and conformation that being fully myself was okay. I didn't have a ton of adults to look to for that back then, so if it wasn't for people like you and DEHH I wouldn't have the media and cultural literacy I pride myself of today. Hell, It's safe to argue the cultural currency I gained from DEHH probably helped me in a few jobs and relationships one way or another...anyways this is getting long now. I just want to say thanks for being there for 16 year old to 19 year old me before I went off to college and got preoccupied with the college thing. Safe to say, I'll be tuning in for the new journey. One!

hey, wanted to ask if you will still be doing an end of the year best of for hip hop? and i would have wished you would have stayed for the what i listened to each year of hip hop (50th anniversary vids) 1993 was the last one.......also i am not sure if it was the same one you went to but did you hear about the death metal record store in norway that burned down. i dont know if thats the same one you visited in your european trip, but thought i would comment
@mykectown6 ай бұрын
So, as far as the Year End lists, I haven't talked them about that, but I'd be down to keep doing those. Yeah, the what I listened to by year videos were fun, but they just weren't moving the needle. People weren't watching them. And yeah, I heard about Neseblod burning down. Big bummer but super glad I got to go! The reason I went last year was exactly because I was afraid this would happen and I'd never get to see it.

I fell in love with Ebony Pendant because of your recommendations! Do you think you'll be talking a bit more about hip-hop on here? I always liked checking out your year-end lists on here and on DEHH, so I hope you'll still give us your opinions on hip-hop new releases.
@mykectown6 ай бұрын
I'll def keep covering the random more underrepresented hip hop stuff here. And, who knows. Maybe I'll still do the Year End lists with the guys. Those are always fun. But yeah, I'm just not gonna be covering stuff that I have no interest in listening to. So you won't see me talking about Drake or Rick Ross or some shit on here.
@Crashking4167 ай бұрын
Myke, do you listen to any bands on the 20 Buck Spin label? If not, I think you'd really dig them. Tons of old school death metal bands with tinges of black metal as well.
@SanskarWagley7 ай бұрын
he definitely does
@mykectown6 ай бұрын
I don't really. I wanna support that label because they've been kind to me in the past and I've heard on good authority that they're really good people. But I'm just not super interested in their brand of death metal. Outside of Hulder I don't really keep up with many of their bands. When it comes to death metal I mostly like the really gross underproduced stuff (Incantation, Fossilized, Phrenelith, Father Befouled, etc.). The more old school stuff that just sounds like Death or Autopsy doesn't really interest me. But maybe I'm missing the right band.

@@mykectown well thats shocking cause that sounds like something you would be into. The band is great cause its a melodic death metal band thats the closest to sounding like actual death metal. Heyo Myke. Hope you're doing good 🙏 I just wanted to ask if you've ever heard of an artist of the name of Ichiko Aoba? Shes a Japanese artist that makes extremely serene and fairy-like folk music and shes maybe my favorite artist of the last 10 years besides Kendrick Lamar. Her latest album, "Windswept Adan" (2020), is her foray into chamber folk, and it's probably the most gorgeous album to have come out of this decade so far. It'd mean the world to me if you at least checked it out. Much love ❤
