I saw the Bandcamp Daily article on the Atlanta metal compilation a few weeks ago and I thought, “Oh, I wonder if Myke’s old band is on there…” and lo and behold! And that new Avmakt album is a much, muuuuuch better Darkthrone album than the one that the actual band released this year. Sorry, Fenriz and Nocturno…

Hell yeah, Avmakt is tight. Best Darkthrone album in years, love the logo too. BTW, you could just include those rap albums in Vinyl Updates rather than do the rap up thing.

Have you heard Forensic by Mortal Decay? It's my favorite death metal album of the 2000s outside of Intestine Baalism because of how creative it was both lyrically and riff-wise. It has old-school death metal influences but goes on a very experimental direction and is genuinely unsettling to listen to.
