Oh my goodness! Thank you for this! I've been trying to find a proper way to practice my Chinese and Japanese and after I downloaded this today I was finally able to get some speaking practice in as well as find some Polish people that needed help with their English. It's always been difficult for me to find a group that can handle those 4 very different languages but they are all on there! Fantastic!

Comment for Taey Ladi (can't reply directly to you because you don't have replies enabled) - you can have your profile not show to the opposite sex, if the opposite sex is being a problem. Have a closer look into the options on HelloTalk to customize it and make it a better experience.

I use HelloTalk!! I love love love it!!! I was able to met a really good language partner that lives in the small rural town where I live.. This app really is the way to go when you want to learn a new language but don't want the drama of other "hook-up" apps...

I've been using hellotalk for 2 months now and it's hard to find people that's serious. There's a lot of guys there who just want to flirt and I can bearly make out what they're even saying. I get asked for photos a lot. I'm just there to learn:/ sigh

+Elle Thomson You can try to choose the "Same Gender" option as Nichola said. And language learning is a long term thing. There is time zone difference, people sometimes are busy or not interested in talking. But given a bit of time (usually 2~3 week), and patience, eventually one will find some suitable language partners.

I'm using the app since u introduced me to it. And I already met some really nice korean people who want to learn german. No awkward situations yet. Just talking and having fun. But I think the app is disconnecting my phone from my wlan often... that's kinda annoying. It's a really good app for learning a different language! Thank u guise for sharing it! :)

Rachel from Rachel and Jun talked about this about a month or two ago? maybe longer? I tried it out.... but a lot of people kept asking to leave the app VERY quickly. Like to move to kakao or to meet in person or have skype calls. I don't know if this is something unique to Korean people... (I doubt it) but it really turned me off the app because using the translation service is useless if all people want to do is beg to switch to kakao... and when I say no, they just ask again in a day or so.(and this is even when I set the app to only show same gender, to eliminate weird dating service men)

I have been using Hello Talk lately but I'm not sure if I use it right. My conversations are either completely in English or completely in Korean. I don't mind helping people practice English but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that. I have used Korean to help clarify when the person didn't seem to understand what I said in English but still most of the time it is completely English or completely Korean. I really like when I get someone willing to speak completely in Korean to me though because it helps me improve a lot. edit: Also I've never used any of the features to correct the other person. I just use it for a normal conversation, haha.

Hi guys / Hola /Salam , what about a big challenge : " 1 year & 2 languages" basically, it's two people who are gonna teach each other in the languages they want to learn. They record their conversations and then at the end of the year we will see how fast they learned and their fluency in those languages. I m 23 y. french man looking for spanish and arabic people (If possible the morrocan or Egyptian arabic) to do the challenge. let's do it !

There was one on HelloTalk who wanted to see me, but when I told him he joined a language exchange group, he apologized, which was really nice. I sent him a bye bye smiley. I still have to see how things go. I will not answer those who want to know my name. I got a Japanese language exchange partner through a different community and he's a really nice language exchange partner. I feel that I have to put his English language need before my Japanese language need, however, because the English is really necessary for him. I'll see how the other Japanese language exchange partners go, and I have one female partner by e-mail. Our e-mails are bilingual, and I might have the chance to meet her when I go to Japan later this year.^^

So it's any language? Because I would consider using it to relearn all the French I've forgotten since high school, and if it's just casual chatting then it would be easy to do in my spare time. Learning Korean or Japanese has always been an interest of mine but I have to focus on college studies so starting an entirely new language might be a bit much.
