Another podcast video where we just talk about a bunch of stuff! Easiest to ones to edit at the moment! haha. We see a lot of discussion about certain topics and this is just how we see things as people who live in Korea. Please also remember it's just our opinions and feelings at the time, there is always more to be said on a topic that doesn't fit into a video.

MyKoreanHusband I agree on so many of these topics, especially Trump (the hothead). The news in the US has been flooded since he’s been in office (and not in a good way). So many would like to see him removed from office.

Thank you so much for this video!! One of the reasons I have loved following you guys for so long is that I am one of those people who used to live in Korea, about 15yrs ago, and then I visited again just for a month 9yrs ago, and even in that short time so much had changed within Korean culture......so I love watching videos like yours, because it keeps me regularly up to date with Korean life ☺️✌🏻 Lots of love!! xxx

It's great to see this type of videos because it let's people really learn what Korea is actually like to people who actually live there and kind of of opens our eyes from the fantasy that we've built in our heads. These kinds of videos have actually gotten me to learn more about the culture, the people, and the place itself. And not just live in our non-existent fantasy world. Sorry if it didn't make sense(: Oh and I'm sorry about our "President", we don't all agree with his mindset....

I just happened to come across BAP performing outside of Odaiba's shopping centre (the one where the giant gundam used to be) while in Japan. It was so random, but considering how hard kpop groups/people work, I guess it's not surprising there's a group performing somewhere.

If I could give this two thumbs up I would, if only for the talk on North Korea, Trump, and American media being worried only about American casualties. I lived in South Korea for 8 years and family in the US thought we were in imminent danger on a daily basis based on the American media.

There are so many parallels between North and South Korea and the former GDR (East Germany - a dictatorship back then) and West Germany. The reunification of Germany was not legally a merger, but an absorption of the East German states into West Germany which propably would be what most Koreans think would happen to their country. Furthermore, both german sides desperately wanted the reunation back then (like Koreans do now I guess). The reunification was complicated procedure though. Mainly A war obviously is no option, but a reunification is just as unlikely to happen (even if Kim Jong Un "dissapeared")

I loved the conversation about the houses and apartments. In Dramas the bathrooms look western. Then I research renting an apartment for my move and THERE IS NO SHOWER/BATH! Lol that concept is so different for me. I was like soooo I sit on the toilet to shower? 🤣 I showed my mom she was like...won’t the toilet paper get wet lol
@MyKoreanHusband
@MyKoreanHusband 7 жыл бұрын
Haha yes... there are some places where the shower is right over the toilet. Don't worry, not all are like that. We have a big space for our shower and the shower head is attached to the wall. But many Koreans shower holding the shower head and washing themselves that way, rather than standing under a stream of water. Unfortunately that's why there are some places with tiny bathrooms because they didn't feel the need for a proper shower space. Also because Koreans go to the public baths as well people don't feel the need to a bathtub which takes up space. However, newer apartments and some houses will have bathtubs.

I don’t believe that the everyday normal American people worry about just America. That is so false. I have travels and met many people from many country’s, and we are all trying to be good humans. We don’t want war... but we would like to see freedom for the North Korean people. To have no freedom, I could not image... Love watching your videos. And your beautiful son❤️

さんななし Many Japanese have Korean blood (including emperors) due to migration of Koreans to Japan in the very distant past. Japanese are genetically more heterogeneous than Koreans. Some believe the only true Japanese are the Ainu.

I hope so many people watch your video in regards to the North Korean situation. As someone living in the U.S., I can tell you it is clear that our government is getting their rocks off on the idea of war in Korea, and itching to start a fight to prove they're the "big boys" with the big guns. There is so much propaganda here about how dangerous North Korea is to the U.S. and that something really needs to be done about it. (Part of me even is suspicious that the false alarm in Hawaii was deliberate, with the purpose of increasing fear here, and support for a possible war). It is scary because, as you said, Trump and his advisors care absolutely nothing about the Korean people and how many young mens' lives there might be lost. I'm so so sorry about all the idiot Americans who voted for Trump. Hopefully, he will be impeached or involved in some scandal before he can do any serious damage and start another war.

But of a odd question, I am a bit of a curvy girl- I weigh 220. If I were to travel to korea, would I have any awkward encounters? Like refusal to be served from food stalls/restaurants? I read an article that said there is a culture issue with overweight women in korea. Just want to be aware If there is. If there is not and I am totally wrong I mean no offense, trying to figure out what is actually the truth! Thanks!
@jellyrolly
@jellyrolly 7 жыл бұрын
I doubt you would be denied of service - businesses want money from you more than anything. But your friends or peers might directly tell you to lose some weight or that you look overweight. Their comments usually will mean well (not malicious at all), but it will sting for especially North Americans - you guys don't have a culture that openly comments on looks unless it's positive.
@mr.b7004
@mr.b7004 7 жыл бұрын
jellyjay I think what you're saying is true. I am American and I've lived in Korea as a larger girl 210lbs and 5'2". If someone does mention your weight in Korea, remember they are saying something out of genuine concern. In America it is rude to comment on someone's appearance, especially their weight, but Koreans have a different attitude towards appearance. Generally, they think if you can 'fix' the issue, then do so. That mentality goes into their care for their skin, the commonality of plastic surgery, and so on... There are things that Koreans are sensitive about that Americans don't feel are a big deal as well, like age difference. So, just keep in mind the culture is different, and that very rarely will Korean people try to be mean to you about your weight. I never had a Korean person be mean to me about my weight, although some did say things like, "Oh, you should loose weight; you would be more beautiful," and from gym or diet advertizers on the street, " join our gym/diet; you should loose weight." It can sting if you are sensitive about your weight, but it is not meant to hurt you. Again, it is a culture difference, and you must consider those people's intent.
@mr.b7004
@mr.b7004 7 жыл бұрын
Jennifer Gillam Right, of course being unhealthy is looked down upon in America, these days. There is a huge health probelm with being too large or too skinny. But it is rude to go up to a person and say, "You're fat; here's a flier loose some weight," right? At least it is were I live. I see where you're coming from, though. There are alot of diet shows and diet ads, but I meant person to person chats about weight.

While US might not see overweight as a positive thing either, I don't think it's not taboo to comment on people's weights unless it's a literal bully wanting to make one's life miserable. I lived in Chicago and Maryland, and no one dares to speak about someone's weight unless it was a doctor or a mean person.

I feel like in a lot of KZbin videos, I find myself apologizing for Trump, as an American. I neither supported or voted for him, as well as half the country too, but I still apologize. (Btw Yul is so cute. I kept watching him as u guys talked 😆) what a good baby. 😊 Also- idk how to feel about North and South walking together in the Olympics. How do South Koreans feel? I'm just so suspicious/doubtful bc of Kim Jong Un. Like he's up to something. I pray it goes peacefully but there can never truly be an alliance with that monstrosity of a regime unless they step down from power and u know he'd never do that... so in the meantime it's this precarious balance. I just read that in the 80s North Korea actually had a plane bombed to protest the Seoul Olympics. It just makes me uneasy

his head is flat in the back don't you have a crib for him? maybe set up a go fund me page( or do you want him to fit in and have a flat head) laying on flat surfaces like hard korean beds or the floor will create a flat head in the back...are you trying to do this...something like cultures that bind heads to creat certain shapes? he is precious and seems to have a nice disposition...just wondering if this is a cultural thing in korea...had a neighbor once that took her baby to a doctor and he was fitted with special helments as he grew to make his head round (he had been laid on flat surfaces to much) is this a korean thing wanting flat heads in the back

@sophiesong8937
@sophiesong8937 7 жыл бұрын
Rebecca Garrett there's so much judgement in your question, but not a lot of fact. It's none of your business, ofcourse, but I have seen Yul personally and his skull development is quite normal, although babies that have spent long periods in nicu may have increased risk of flatness of the head, his head seems pretty normal. It will appear much rounder as it develops up and beyond his first birthday. Flat head is not a desired feature in Korea, generally, and is not cultural, however traditionally in Korea parents don't place infants on their tummy until the baby learns to roll onto its tummy naturally. That may increase the risk of flatness of the head, but Nichola gives Yul tummy time, which will help him become mobile faster and reduces risk of flatness. You asked a question and didn't wait for the answer before making impolite comments about a BABY on the internet. I hope it makes you feel important to pick on someone so defenseless.

+Sophie Song really did have a neighbor with a baby that was fitted with a helment every month, and how would i know it wasn't a desired feature...it is noticeable in south korean heads...i had no idea it was a complication of being in a newborn critical care unit...didn't have any idea it was a cultural thing to lay babies on their backs until they can turn over (i have never heard of that) i wasn't attacking a baby, i was asking questions (people will do that when you have informational channels) but you are right i won't ask anymore questions of them...i've watched them for years but seeing that you are a freind of theirs and this must have been more upsetting to more people than you i will leave off watching this channel and apologise... i am sorry...
