Un des grands classiques de Mylène ! The moment she mimics the pistol shot at the audience, it makes reference to the pistol duel in the intro of the song clip ;) Il faut vraiment s'attarder sur ses clips, celui de cette chanson (et sa suite) fait plus de 10 minutes, avec des costumes d'époque etc. A voir absolument !

To understand the gun thing, you have to watch the music video! This one, "Libertine", and "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces", the sequel, two awesome music videos with huge production, two short movies, really. With a naked Mylène in it, but hey that was the 80's! And basically in "Libertine", Mylène says that she's a whore! "Je suis libertine, je suis une catin" = "I'm a libertine, I'm a whore".

Another thing that Mylene Farmer is famous for are her music videos, because some of them are like mini-movies. I mean the music video for this song is over 10 minutes long and the production cost for costumes and everythig must have been substantial. And I don´t believe you have seen any so far. :-)

Libertine was an ENORMOUS hit , in 1986. The extented version is great. Mylène talks dirty , in this song. The translation of " Je suis libertine , je suis une catin " is " I am libertine , I am a whore ". " Catin " is an old French word to say prostitute. However , the other lyrics are sweet.
