Thank you for your tribute I am just now learning of his death, I thought of him today, looked him up and found this. I am surprised his death did not make news here in the US. I have followed Peter from almost day 1. Like you we communicated back and forth, not sure I saved those, with the Google changes on the Tube, I was at one time solorguy, I never posted vids but just enjoyed the Tube and Esp. Peter. I was amazed when he hit US TV. and I really enjoyed his gentle talks and enjoyed his ventures into a the choral group. Shame he will jot be posting at 100.

It's funny how things come around because if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have started Vlogging 3 years ago. Although I stopped for various reasons I've always come back to your channel because of what you inspired me to do. So in a respect Peter inspired me, through you. KZbin is a wonderful thing and I hope Peter's videos are kept for more new KZbinrs to be inspired by. It kind of makes me want to restart Vlogging again. RIP Peter Oakley.

I feared this might be the case when I saw that his last video was months ago. I will miss him tremendously. One can only take solace in the knowledge that the Internet enriched his world greatly, just as he enriched our lives with his stories. It's some comfort that his videos should be there for all of us for a long time to come.

All old folk are technophobes is such a sweeping statement. Granted the digital age seems such a new and shiny thing, and it has changed our lives completely in the last 10-15 years, but it's getting on for 70 years since British tea and cakes pushers Lyons first used computers to do office work. Which means there are plenty people who have worked their entire lives and now retired from IT careers, which is something that young people don't realise. Most of what is around now was first invented and thought of back in the 50's, 60's and 70's, none of it is particularly new, it's just that it was been perfected miniaturised and packed better in the last few years. The basic principles are the same as the very first fully digital machine Manchester MK1 which first ran in 1949.

Watched peter, basically since he started I suppose, I miss him, wish I would have met the man. However, I can say, that (I wish I saved it though) I got a letter from him on KZbin here :) I asked about girl advice when I was younger. He gave some excellent advice, not only did this man take time to read what I said, he replied with like an essay-like message, lovely. :) Miss you, gone but not forgotten, with all the cool people in HEAVEN NOW :D

Your comment shows how ignorant you are. First the extra ad revenue + algorithm advantage (I’m almost positive) didn’t even exist back when this video was made and second, even if it did, the extra revenue comes from a mid roll ad, which wasn’t in this video, plus it is likely that this video doesn’t even have ads on it meaning that this video would only be more likely to be suggested to people by the algorithm. Which if you think about it, it would be a good thing for this man’s fans since there is no official statement on his channel other than the fact that he suggests in his last video that it might be his last. Peter Oakley never mentioned the potential of his death and it was quite easy to miss his final statement on KZbin. Potentially leaving his fans either wondering what happened to him or thinking that he chose to quit out out of wanting to; not because death was looming.
