We’ve been using a simpler solution for electrical cords: reusable shopping bags. Coil the cords, put one cord per bag, hang the bags on a piece of plywood mounted on the wall with as many nails as needed to hang the all bags.

As I watch this video I can imagine how special and rewarding this is for all involved but especially for Gary and Shelly who can now kind of sit back and relax seeing the marvelous young men and women their kids have grown up to be. To see Garen and Ellie now well on the path of parenthood, to see Bree and Jared starting their life together, to see Shae and Skyler planning and working towards their marriage. There's still Bryson to keep them from the empty nest syndrome but he's such a fine and intelligent young man I wouldn't be surprised if some lovely young lady comes along and sweeps him off his feet in the not too distant future. It's just so amazing seeing how much everyone has grown and matured over the past several years I've been watching (since just before the MusArt Studio). I can only conclude that Gary and Shelly are filled with great pride and satisfaction with how all their children have turned out.

The out house door needs a star along with the moon cut into it. Originally the star was for men's and the moon for women's. Both meant for all. It also Provided a way to say occupied at night. As the lantern light would show through. Just a little trivia. In Europe outhouses had a heart in place of the moon for women's.
@earthwizz3 жыл бұрын
The problem of moving from desert to forest, it's difficult to see the wood for the trees. You could catch water from the outhouse roof very simply and it would be completely automated. A bit of guttering and a downpipe that extends below the top of the bucket with a screw cap on the end as a first flush system. A T junction level with the top of the bucket feeds the bucket. When the rain starts the roof is washed and the first bit goes to the bottom of the downpipe, when it fills to the T junction clean water goes into the bucket. Leave the end cap a little loose so it just seeps a bit and between rains the first flush will drain leaving it set up for the next rain.
@CosmicGorilla3 жыл бұрын
You could run a pipe from the roof into the bucket to naturally refill it when it rains. You could add an overflow and gravel pit to the bucket as well. Love your creativity and the way you all work together. Keep the live flowing chaps.

My family has a inherited extension cord storage method too. We basically crochet a long chain out of it. I used to think my father was just clever/weird for coming up with it, but then one day my aunt freaked out when she saw me doing it. Apparently my grandpa used to make them all wind up their extension cords the same way.

Oh Shelly, don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes it's hard to wrap our minds around how a thing is done. Because I worked in a college tech department, I had to learn how to do my cords and cables like that. I actually got really good at it. BUT my parents tried to teach me to tie my shoelaces using a Zimmerman Knot. I was 35 and my son was 2 when I finally got it figured out. Let's just say it took me 30 years to learn that knot. It's actually very easy and won't come untied until you pull the end of the shoelace, so I really needed to learn how to do it. Very clever hand washing station. I love all the little details...even a privacy sign.

Impressed, love this family. Thanks for inviting us along to camp out! ⛺🏕️🤪 At the moment I was watching the towel hook being placed, I think it's a grand thing. However, if you have a spare jug/ or something water repellent that could cover the towel: it would be dry longer. 💡 Make another skinny shelf above the towel hook, then the vacant/ occupied could sit on the shelf.

Love the new wash station. But, come on! I was raised in the west and I know how hard the wind blows! How long will that towel remain on the hook? HAHAHA! A clothespin, or two, might come in handy. Also, I'm smiling at some of the comments about "catching rain water," and putting some sort of awning over the towel to keep it dry. Here in Tennessee we get more rain in a week than some areas in the west get in an entire year! Southerners cannot fathom the difference in the climate. Although I've lived in the south for over 15 years now, I still am amazed that I can put decor on my front porch and it just STAYS there and doesn't get blown away, and the amount of rain and humidity is truly mind-boggling. I love the simplicity and nod to the past of drying my sheets on the line, but it takes FOREVER in the humidity and you can FORGET leaving them overnight because they'll smell like mildew in the morning. It's a different world, for sure. The footage of the family around the campfire is so soothing and relaxing.
@catreader97333 жыл бұрын
UPDATE: Using a ball (I originally said gate valve, in error) valve at the wash station would allow a fast change from zero- to full-flow, saving water and making it easier to operate with mucky hands. Admittedly, it wouldn't be as picturesque. Maybe Bryson would want to cast a custom replacement handle, or you could find an unusual one somewhere.

I soooo love hanging out with friends and family around the fire. Mostly great memories. Except one. We had a weekend camping gathering with friends and the day after we got home from it, our son had a horrible asthmatic attack and almost ended up in the hospital. He was in the ER for about 15 hours. Since then, obviously we are leary of having him anywhere near a fire. And it's especially hard where we live in Florida where there are controlled burns every so often. So, enjoy your time around the fire for us!!! God bless

You should plant some nice flowers to absorb the water that comes out of the sink. Something the grows easily. Then you would be really making that water work for you. Also you could use a rainwater catch basin to provide water. Next will there be a solar outdoor shower too?

It reminds me of when we were girl scouts and we had to get a milk jug, poke a hole near the bottom and put a stick in it to keep it from dripping water out, and then used a stocking and put a bar of soap in it, and tied it to the handle. Then they just put a string through the hole of the paper towel roll and hung it nearby.

That outhouse is so cute! Maybe if you turn the lid upside down, make a hole and a screen filter to funnel water in and release air... Options. You have many. The outhouse path, the outhouse would be so cute with solar lights, says a person who stubbed a toe far too many times on an outhouse path Also!!!! Dad!!!! I spent thousands in garages for my favorite Chevy station wagon. Had my dad been alive then I suddenly, I mean my mouth fell open!! My dad would have told me vapor lock! I forgot that possibility and ended up selling cheap to someone " willing" to deal with the problem garages charged me to fix three or four times but down the road, it quit. Finally! I am reminded what my dad tried to teach me. I feel both dumb and grateful for you.
