Just thought I would point out so people don’t get confused: for most English speakers, when we say “super glue” we mean the “3-second glue” you used on the threads. The glue you used to attach the feathers we call “contact cement”. Beautiful work as always.

Try douglas fir, it is the king of arrow shafts. Great for warm and humid climates also. Really the best choice for wooden arrows.

Вместо 5-ти струбцин можно было использовать одни столярные тиски. А можно просто резиновым шнуром обмотать. И общая производительность труда поражает воображение! Если бы так готовили стрелы к войне, то боезапас так бы и не понадобился - война бы закончилась до готовности первой партии стрел!

There is an easier way to cut the slot in the main shaft You do not need to cut a V shape.It you just cut 1 slot in the center you can put a clamp on the shaft just near the cut and wedge your footing in the shaft After thr glue dries it stays in position and makes a better joint.

а враги стояли и ждали, когда самурай надрочит свои стрелы.... красиво конечно, но смысл так изголяться ради стрел - не вижу, стрела - расходник, и она должна быть максимально простой и дешевой в изготовлении, иначе смысла просто нет в ней, представьте сколько нужно стрел, хотя бы на десяток лучников, если делать их по такой технологии, да еще и без современных инструментов, уйдут месяцы, а если их не десяток, а сотня, или две, или 10 сотен лучников.... и каждому надо хотя бы пару десятков стрел иметь с собой.... это сколько мастеров нужно, чтобы обеспечить такую ораву стрелами? при том что эффективность лучника в реальном бою - не сильно большая, и только имея их большое количество, можно нанести хоть какой то урон противнику, в общем - как вариант зае..аться на неделю - две, и потом красиво повесить на стену - тема годная, а если нужно в короткие сроки нагнать два - три десятка стрел, то проще через плашку прогнать и потом шлифануть, ну или через фрезер зажатый вместо стамески, кому как удобнее, без склейки и прочих изысков, чтоб тебе не жалко было ими пользоваться

Wow Awesome performance, pretty much what everyone should be doing definancing the Archery Industry by making everything your self.. I made Arrows in the 80's,....still have some,....I made some recently but I'm not happy with Bear shafts? They had grain run off, knots,...and only 4 were close to spine weight. There is so many variables. But wood shafts are what I still prefer.

If you can gain access, these are a few good woods for arrow shafts....No. American Willows (natural shoots) Chestnut ( also natural shoots) Wild Roses, Tamarack No. America, Chokecherry, No. America ( also natural shoots) Dogwood, Cedar, River Cane (shoots) Cedar always a good choice tuff , lightweight..... You're a good Craftsman....!!!

Знаешь, древесина не важна, Попробуй из пластмассы. Для охоты же, скажем, на оленя имеет значение острота стрелы, её способность поражать. Животное отличается от людей размером, скоростью, а древесина твой первый шаг в этом деле.

Thank you for such a very informative video, sir. I am a professional Traditional Archer in building Custom Reflex/Deflex longbows from Hickory, Brazillian Walnut and backed with Bamboo. My arrows are built from Port Orford Cedar and they are all match-graded to the draw weight of the bow. I also weigh each arrow to where they are within 10 grains from arrow number one, to arrow number twelve, on a jewelers scale, as I build them in lots of a dozen (12). It is almost exactly like shooting the same arrow throughout.

You're doing it the proper way. He's very artistic but his groups at such a short distance are very poor. His bow is very slow, doesn't generate any arrow speed and he probably doesn't know how important it is to match spline and weight of a set of arrows.

As a shaft wood for arrows. In the Neolithic period, shafts made of woolly snowball, Virbunum lantana, were used. Also false cypress, Camaecypsris lawsoniana are good arrow shaft wood. You can also use Red Cedar. Anything better than ash. Thank you for your heart.

You must hold your draw and eyes on the target until 2 or 3 seconds after the arrow hits the target. Also the feathers shape size and space will effect arrows flight path. Also type of head.

you could have used half round bit instead of quarter corner round. then you'd have a perfect round rod. no need for dowel jigs.
