For those who may not have used microns before: 08 micron = 0.50 mm (pen tip) 01 micron = 0.25 mm 005 micron = 0.20 mm When you showed your binder full of manga pages, it brought me back to when I was 12 years old drawing comics. Fun times!

I love this video. I wish this advice was around when I was 12 years old. I still remember that I drew my comics in composition notebooks, made the panels with a school ruler and made the line art with black marker and black pen. Obviously it wasn't perfect but I have to agree that it helped me a lot to learn. I'm hoping that you consider showing us your old comic books, it's always nice to see how an artist has become better on their own art.

Speedball ink is also my favorite ink. I buy it in the big 16oz bottle size (which runs about $10 at my local art store.) This ink has almost supernatural properties. The longer you let it dry the more indestructible it becomes. According to Speedball, the ink isn't actually waterproof until at least 24 hours of drying time, but it even becomes marker resistant when dried longer than 72 hours. I've found that letting it dry for 5-7 days is usually sufficient for Copic coloring. Good to know if you're not working on a budget of time.

For my school art fair thing, we made comics for my drawing and painting. My teacher was great and allowed some of us who were more into comic book art to make comics. She gave us like a whole semester for our comics. She was going to use a book binder machine to bind them for us, but I decided literally last minute that the whole thing was trash to I redrew all of it and bound it by hand using thread, a needle, and glue. :3 those are my humble comic beginnings of sewing at school

I would have also added cardstock to the beginners list. It's fairly cheap and you can fully color with markers with little to no bleed through. At Michaels you can get almost any color you want for $2 and it comes in packs of 50. That's the only place I've found white cardstock so far, but on eBay you can get a pack of, like, 100 for $6.
@MyMangakaLIFE7 жыл бұрын
Thank you, but this video isn't about making illustrations and art supplies; it's about supplies for making manga and comics on a budget ^__^;; Cardstock would be too costly for young people after buying 200 sheets to complete a book, and young people may need to re-draw pages numerous times for practice. Messing up artist-grade paper (or the fear of messing up) can cause them distress, but computer paper (being so inexpensive) will ease their minds. They'll feel more free to experiment ♡ I feel computer paper would be more cost effective for them too♡ Staples sells packs of 300 sheets (and more) for $2 (and $0.01 during their "back to school" sales LOL) +Sebastian Sean Crow
@ellyettepaige7 жыл бұрын
Sebastian Sean Crow I think that's a great suggestion. 😊 Do you know that Michael's is having some of their biggest sales ever right now? I got so many things there the other day for absolute steals. Their papers n cardstock are the lowest they've ever been right now. Just thought you might like to know, (if you didn't already), so you can stock up. x 😊

+My Mangaka LIFE that's real cheap! I was just thinking about using a whole lot of ink to fill in big areas and all the bleed through I've experienced whenever inking heavily on copy paper. I know there are places to get cardstock even cheaper but I haven't found them yet unfortunately.

We watch your video's together and though she lacks confidence in her work, seeing some of your older video's showing your work around her age and how you are now has done a lot for inspiring her to keep at it. (This weekend she won 3rd place for art in her age division at the county fair, she was hyped!) She creates her own stories, has her own OC's, and has chosen manga as a path to follow! Any advice for a very young inspiring artist? Or maybe a video for young artists if you're looking for video ideas!
