You can try to fix battery. In there is ic bq30z55 which need to recalibrate if battery goes flat. To do that you need to short sda and scl contacts to ground for min 5 sec (yellow and white wires on battery connector) Also that chip has fuse pin that will blowup fuse if he detects that something is wrong with battery. You can find that fuse at the middle right side on battery board. Keep in mind that fuse have 3 pins and all need to have continuity.

Well done vince :-D That chip (super io) near the keyboard connector starts the machine, reads the bios, does the keyboard, keeps an eye on the power side and lots of other things. Its programming for that particular machine is in the same chip the bios image is in. A lot of the pins on that chip are definable by the programming. Never look at a diagram for a different machine that uses the same chip. The pins will be doing different things. It connects to the power on button.

One thing to note about laptop batteries, most modern ones from reputable manufacturers have a controller on them that keeps track of the battery's health. If a battery drops below safe voltage, that controller will prevent it from charging until the status bit is cleared. You need special hardware to read/write to the battery controller.

Please charge your batteries using a bench power supply. It is not hard not dangerous. Apply voltage appropriate to the cell count. 1=4, 2=8, 3=12 etc. There is protective circuits on many battery packs. You can reset or replace the BMS chips in the packs. No need to trash the cells. Deep discharge reduces their capacity a bit but most are salvageable.

hey My Mate Vince, watched a lot of video's from the Cod3r and he talks a lot, mentioned you quite some times. so i have subscribed, i did hear you mention the slow loading times in your video at the end while loading a you-tube video, possible power related, but it is not the power for sure, you have windows 10 installed, and the minimal requirements of win 10 were not up to spec. If i remembered you video correct, it was 2 gb memory chips and 4gb is minimum for lag free windows. it works with 2gb for sure, you just have to be a bit more patient while browsing internet or loading a program, or search for a minimal win 10 setup online, you could make your own win 10 build, so lots of bloatware is not around in win 10. good video thanks

Excellent =D Regards the keyboard not working after you "did some stuff" (spoiler saver) - if it has been used with a USB keyboard previously, that is probably the default. Sometimes just removing any other keyboards listed in Device Manager and doing a scan for hardware changes is sufficient to get it to default back to the built in keyboard! PS: I spotted the left hand side of that IC miss aligned by 1 pin lol, just as the hot air came out! ;)

52% bismuth 32% lead 16% tin solder melts at 95°C. It's probably not using that, but that's the worst case. A good number of lead/tin mixtures melt below 200°C, too. Adding silver often makes it melt at even lower temps. You may well have resoldered the CPU by blasting it at 200°C. Either way, I guess that's what it needed.

That chip is called the SIO (Super Input/Output) it controls the startup of all the power supplies, the battery charge control circuit & keyboard if it was faulty the computer wouldn't work also the battery won't charge if it's below it's threshold charge voltage the SIO will say NO! The VERY 1st thing you test on a non-working board is the input MOSFETs which are also controlled by the SIO then do you have 3.3V on the SIO if so you then check all power supplies for a short to ground & Vcore power supply will always be very low resistance. The SIO is the startup control chip & can in some/most cases on a laptop have the BIOS in them so you can't just buy a new blank IC & install it, it won't work unless it's been flash with the bios! Just a little knowledge for a VERY obvious noob who has NO idea what they're doing!

There are some cheap charging circuits with micro usb ports that charge any battery even if it's voltage is at 0V And btw, regarding the batteries, some times the batteries need to be disconnected from the circuit so it accepts the batteries again and the circuit allows them to charge again.

I am in the process of getting a similar laptop to this for very cheap, it is an HP and though it has some pretty decent specs, the SSD is much too small to support Windows. My plan is to buy an optical drive to hdd adapter and install a second drive, then to put it in my collection as a decently specced laptop, not one with a crippling issue like low storage.

I could also be a battery protection thing in the battery (like a software fuse) but normally that is not the case on cheaper stuff. @@Mymatevince Hallo Vince, this super IO chip or KBC (keyboard controller) or EC(embedded controller) have a program inside. Some types of this chips can download a program from bios chip, but same types must be programed by an external programmer like a SVOD v3. I'm not sure how it is with this chip, but it is possible that without programming a new chip will not work for you. Since I can find the IT8568E in any database, it is quite probable that the chip is non-programmable, so it will download the necessary firmware after connection. So good luck, hopefully the work will succeed.

The fact that the EC/SuperIO chip died only partially and kept the laptop still mostly functional was quite surprising for me, usually when they fail there are no signs of life as they handle power button and lights, keyboard, some I/O, charging and the whole bootup sequence before the BIOS takes over.

I had a similar battery problem with an asus ux305. I charge low-volt lithium cells with a CV/CC buck converter typically set at 4.1v but 50ma until they reach 2.5v and then at C/2. I also found the laptop rejected the charged battery but I had a small 2 cell bms which I fitted in place of the one on the battery. I connected the bms output to the laptop battery connector +ve and -ve but left the third wire at the connector open and found that (with PSU connected) the battery would take a slow charge but the laptop always thought it was at 0%. If I start the laptop from mains it will keep running from battery but, without the mains PSU, it will not try to start as the laptop cannot communicate with my new bms.

When you've been charging the batteries, did you have the bottom covers on? mainly ram cover, some laptops have a microswitch under the ram cover that prevents the laptop turning on with a battery and charging if the microswitch isn't pressed by the ram cover. May not be the case here, but one I've been stumped on before.

@RWL20123 жыл бұрын
32GB seems an odd size for an SSD - they went from 20GB to 30GB to 40GB back in the day. it's far more likely to be an eMMC (embedded multi media card) drive which is like a memory card acting as the hard drive. so technically it is "solid state", but won't be fast like a real SSD, rather more like hard drive speed if not worse. I had a weak laptop before I moved to desktops, but it came with a hard drive that died after only 1 year, so I replaced it with my first SSD, but the CPU was too weak to actually benefit from what would've been the faster drive speed, so I'm guessing it's a similar case here.
