Just wondering; is there metal that is colored all the way through? I know you can blacken metal with coatings and stuff, but that doesn't seem like it would work in this. Is there metal that is black/dark all the way through and not just on the surface?

The Ancient Egyptians were known for some pretty crazy stone carving abilities though, there's one statue of a Pharoah carved out of a stone that is second to hardness in diamonds, if I'm remembering all of that correctly and nobody knows how they did it.

Ive been watching alot of machinist videos lately, and the amount it takes to center everything, zero everything out, making sure theres no wobble... its insane. He doesn't just lock it in the chuck and start cutting, theres faaaarrr more involved and that makes me love this channel even more.

@@jmc8583 It was always going to be decorative. No one is going to use a steel 8-ball in real pool game. It probably outweighs the other balls by 5-10x. But I was also surprised that he used a file at the end. If he had taken the nub and put the ball into the chuck at an angle, he could have used the shape of the rest of the ball to maintain sphericity.

Stainless would dint if hit with more stainless. Harder steel ballbearing would be better, more round and could be laser engraved or chemically etched for numbers and colours.

There is also the problem that since he inlaid the ball with brass, the density is not uniform and the ball would not roll consistently. You couldn't make a functional set of billard balls in this manner. That being said, impressive display of his machining skills.

I had a friend who had a machine shop and I stopped in to talk to him and he said wait I cannot stop. I stood there watching him for about 12 minutes. When he was done he said thanks for waiting and in that time I just made $7,200 . He told me it was an obsolete part that he just made for some type of aircraft. I thought hell that's pretty good no wonder you have the house you have .
