Always nice to see someone with skills enjoying themselves in the woods. I've made several stoves and i like the large cooking area on yours.. Not sure how much your stove pipe weighs but if your interested McMaster Carr has 12"x120" SS shim stock. Super thin. Once you've rolled it up and had your first fire it then has memory rolling out and back when needed.. wire rings for holding it in good stove pipe shape use to be had from Titanium Goat. Just checked, they still do, plus titanium stove pipe material but not the ss.

Neat stove, dinner looked delicious. 40% is the bare minimum for ethanol to catch fire, 50% or higher is probably what you would want for flambe cooking.
@Swedwoods5 жыл бұрын
Yeah but 40% is standard if you dont want to use like..rum or something. Got the answer above. You need a really hot pan
@satyakama0015 жыл бұрын
@@Swedwoods You should have burnt the alcohol before you put in the cream. Won't work like this! And only with open flame

Looks like the stove was a success, I'm sure it kept you warm as well. Surely it was much easier to pack in than the ammo box stove, but there are tradeoffs, I'm sure. Bigger stove, more heat obviously. I like the smaller flat one, adjustable heights off the ground as well it looked like.

Hi - here's my sub. Your moovies become my great inspiration to back to camping in wilderness. It's possible to ignite cognak or any 40% strong alcohol. You have to heat up frying pan to maximum temperature you can achieve and while you pour your alcohol on a boiling fat (oil, animal fat) lean a pan to your coocker torch to ignite alcohol fumes. Trying to ignite alcohol on your stove will be nearly impossible by yourselve because whole flame is covered by your nice looking stove, because alcohol evaporates from the pan almost instantly. My hint for you - avoid using alluminium parts of any kind in your stoves. Alluminium when heated releases toxins to air and dishes (i'm a proffesional welder, i work with alluminium alloys and i know what i'm saying). Better replace it with INOX steel (look for mark AISI 308, avoid AISI 316). It's also pretty light and fire resistant.

Thanks a lot my friend. This is the answer I was looking for. only used alu for the flag holders at the base and they dont get specially hot. if they did this would get crazy dangerous. I looked at steel fittings in a boat shop...damn they very 3 times the money for the rest of the stove...

Wow...great video. Love that stove as it’s got a nice large surface to cook on. I’ve had the same problem with trying to flame meat with cognac. I’ve used 45% ethanol liquor, but it’s expensive here. I did find that the long handled charcoal lighters work ok. Super stuff you’re doing!
