I had a '65 Coronet 500 many years ago with a 383-4V and factory dual exhaust. That car MOVED!!!! Still have the '516 heads from that engine, too...

My family had a 65 Coronet with the 318 4 barrel. It had quick acceleration and was very dependable. My Dad always said it was the best car he ever owned.

Its cool to watch these old videos, knowing what we know now about cars, and the advancements that have been made, compared to real videos of real people selling cars back then. These old videos make it very apparent that people didn't just buy cars - they were involved with their car. They wanted to know everything about it. Todays commercials only showcase gas mileage, safety ratings and awards. Who cares? Why can't we have commercials like THIS anymore?

My parents had the Coronet when I was growing up. It was a very good car. The engine was very quiet and smooth.

I actually find all three cars attractive to look at on the outside, but on the inside, particularly from an engineering standpoint, I like the Coronet features.

Yup. But the video is a comparison for car dealers and salespeople. Not the public. It’s a training film for Mopar dealers and it’s a great one

As far as appearance is concerned, I find all three cars attractive. But naturally, there's more to a good car than just its outward appearance.

'65 Fairlane just never looked right to me. Almost like a cardboard fold-and-insert-tab-A-into-slot-B model. Too square.

I had a '73 Coronet. Went out of alignment backing off the alignment rack. Never got more than 3500 miles on the front tires. move the rears to the front, new ones on the rear, and do it again.

From what I gathered the 65 Coronet could be had with a full race Hemi. I'd have that one!

Christopher Wyller....or you could opt for the 64 Fairlane Thunderbolt with the 427 Sideoiler and blow the doors off that Hemi....

The 1965 Coronet could be ordered with the 426 CID, 425 HP, HEMI engine. However it added about $1,000.00 to the cost of the car/about 45%, before you included ANY other options. That HEMI also had only a 90 day warranty, NOT the 5 year/50,000 mile powertrain coverage included with other engine choices. Beginning in 1968, you could order the 440 CID + 6 BBL, Six Pack (3 x 2 Holley 2BBL carburetor) engine, CONSERVATIVELY rated at 375 HP (actually about 500 + HP) for less than half the cost of the HEMI. It WAS covered by the 5/50 powerrtrain warranty, AND would "blow the doors off" a similarly equipped HEMI car!

@@dr.kennethj.sacchetti2765 I knew about the Hemi short warranty. Just not sure why. And the price was astronomical back then when money still had some spending power. I suppose the Coronet along with the Fairlane side oiler would have been dedicated race cars. Still, it's fun to dream.

The chevelle body was 'unitized' as well AND had a frame. '65 Coronet was far better looking than the '66 - especially as a convertible or hardtop two door. Marks the beginning of the 'full size' intermediates of Dodge - really just efficient full size cars more than stretched out compacts like the fairlane.

In 1979, the reverse of 1965 occurred when the "B" intermediate was reworked into the downsized full size R-series (Newport/New York/Fifth Avenue/St. Regis).

" Plain Jane" Coronet had full drag race model availabe, if optioned right - it could dominate street racing - a SUPER "Q"SHIP disguised as a "mild mannered" basic ugly car. It fooled many unwise drag racers - underestimating them!
