Just finished reading all 118 comments current to today. As an owner of not one, but two 1969 Super Bees, the B5 blue one bought after the green one (F9?-medium metallic green) purchased new was stolen is the best car I've ever owned. That's why I've kept it and it's still going strong. The always fading drum brakes were replaced with disc brakes all around and a Flaming River electric power assist unit added as at 76, I'm just too old to manage the man-powered, oops, woman-powered manual steering. The beast and I have traveled 52,300+ miles together and I'm only on my third clutch. @Walt Darnall who said his 69 340 Dart Swinger wiped out bigger-engine cars never met me. My boyfriend at the time taught me how to drive a 4-speed in a race. When he bought his hottie Swinger (it was bright orange) and challenged me, I blew his doors off. Our relationship didn't survive much after that. Guess I should have let him win......NOT. @Dawn Metsala: your Coronet topped out at 137. How did you know that speed? The standard Coronet speedometer was a slider that ended at 120 MPH. In the Super Bee with either stock engine option, you could have buried it The speedo was circular and calibrated to 150 MPH. I had the needle back around to zero. I've had more fun in this car than anyone should ever expect to have. It's outlasted several boyfriends and outlived my late husband by 21 years. Oh, I let him drive it maybe five times in 22 years but as a consolation, I DID buy him a 72 'cuda. @CAMAROZ28STAN, I like the Super Bee too.

Bought a '69 Super Bee with the special 383 magnum super commando, Hurst 4 speed and Ram Air with the twin hood scoops when I was 17. Found it in a corn field and bought it off the farmer for $550. Loved that car like no other. It bucked and snorted like an angry dragon and could smoke the tires going 70 on the freeway. There are a few specs on THAT motor that they didn't make public. Damn thing was only a few tenths off from a Hemi in the quarter mile. Wish like hell I would have kept it. Worth a fortune now....

I just purchased a 69' 500 Conv - the same color combination as the one in this video. Mine has a console and buckets. This video is extremely helpful as my car has 49K original miles on it and I intend to make sure I keep everything stock looking. My Dad had a (new) 68 that was also white, but the W1 in 69 seems to have a slight yellow tint. You can tell by the door shot that contrasts the interior white with the exterior color. I will keep this video bookmarked.

CC Ryder Well “CC Ryder,” did the upper areas get so much rust because the motor company’s “Seven Step Dip and Spray Body Treatment” may have failed to give the bottom eighteen inches its full-fledged attention. I remember reading or hearing a motor company presentation which touted the servicing of the bottom eighteen inches. Additionally, was Chrysler’s sheet metal worse than the sheet metal used by the other manufacturers? Did the motor company intentionally build cars to wear out quickly so you’d have to buy more cars sooner rather than later? (I knew people in the ‘60’s who would trade every two years.) Was this a case of cutting corners? Did the engineers refuse to improve the bodies with a arrogant stubborn streak of power and pride?

@@fairfaxcat1312 I don't have the answer to any of the above& I doubt anybody does. You are right though, as I recall in the 50's & 60's most people did not keep cars beyond a half dozen years or past 100K miles.

I always like the '69 Dodge Super Bee and RT better than my stripped down '69 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 (that I bought new in July of 1969 for $2600). But on the street, my stock (with only 3:23 gear) would beat the stock 383 Super Bee and RT (also Road Runner and Charger) all day long, as my Swinger had the better power to weight advantage, since the 340 engine was underrated approximately 50 HP by the AHRA.

Here we have another dealer information film-strip authorized by the motor company to provide information to the dealer to help the dealer sell the car. The dealer will be selling the 1969 Dodge Coronet and Super Bee. The more cars the dealer sells the more money everyone will make from the shop garage custodian who cleans the toilet to the dealer who sells the car to the manager who arranges loans to the line worker in Detroit to the outside supplier to the motor company executive to the shareholder and everyone in between. Everyone wants to sell the 1969 Dodge Coronet and Super Bee. Here the motor company’s presentation emphasizes that the car can compete and win against the sales competition. About a quarter of the market is occupied by the intermediate product and apparently the motor company has increased its market share to ten percent and it wants its share of the market to continue to rise. The motor company knows that its share will rise if the dealer sells the car. If one looks closely one may notice that beautiful female models are used to attract the male employees who will be selling the car. The feeling is that successful selling will bring about advanced relationships with beautiful women and the other accoutrements of consumerism. Additionally having beautiful women in the showroom will help sell the car to young men. Young men tend to gravitate to beautiful women and, most importantly, to the sporty cars the motor company is trying to sell.

This was another giant size car from 60s. Just imagine just one person driving with all the space empty.

These were the cheap used cars that us young guys in the late 1970’s and early 80’s could easily afford. They looked and ran better than the new cars of that era, and the price of gas was low. Today we have huge pickups and SUVs, many being occupied by only the drivers.
